Man, that looks like you all had a BLAST on the Jolly Pirates cruise! We totally should have done that. I mean my son really wanted to do seatrek but DePalm Island turned out to be such a total bust for all of us really... hindsight 20/20 because now I see we should have done that excursion instead! Looks like you all had a lot of fun on that excursion!

...and we have the scars to prove it...

I don't suppose anyone looked to see what sort of pillows they have on the Magic? When I got home, I noticed immediately that I liked the pillows there better than what I have at home! I didn't think to take the case off one and look :lmao: Does anyone know?

Right now we are sailing at 16.9 knots in "moderate" seas (waves only 4-8 feet in height). But, I think I hear her humming! Who, you might ask?

The "fat lady."

You know what they say, "It's not over 'til the fat lady sings."

Well, she's not singing yet, but I sure think she's humming.

The reason I say that is because of the captain's announcement through the entire ship right before leaving Nassau. He says that they, of course, are continuing to track Hanna as well as the storms that are behind it. He said that Hanna is "expected to affect Nassau and Castaway Cay Thursday and Friday before moving to the east coast of Georgia on Saturday." He also promised that he would keep us informed as to the storm and our itinerary.

Well, if Castaway Cay is going to be affected Friday, we will be well out at sea to avoid the storm and effectively today might well have been our last port for this cruise.

So, we might have one sea day or we might have two. Who knows? Only Hanna, and she doesn't appear to be talking! :)

I will keep you posted whenever we hear more news from the captain.

Hi everybody, we have survived the first two days of school and now I can unpack and start on the laundry!

We had a very unusual cruise, nothing went according to our "plan". I had a stomach virus that just made me feel blah for a couple of days. DD then got super sick, throwing up EVERYTHING even the advil I was trying to give her for a fever of 103.8. On Panama Canal day we ended up taking her to the medical center because she had not gotten any better, for 36 hours the child could not keep anything in her.

Doctor gave her IV fluids, a shot of something to make her stop throwing up and a suppository to help with the nausea. By this time we had already missed the first set of locks. Doctor put her on cabin restriction for 48 hours, thank god we had our verandah! We did get to take turns getting out of our cabin but DD missed it all. She was feeling better by evening but still just very tired. Disney was great about it and brought a DVD player and some games up to tour room. Concierge did my laundry and made sure we were well taken care of. Our dining room server came up to our room with menus, took our order & then delivered it to our room for us - AMAZING! ...........we cancelled our Cartegena Tour knowing she would not be up to it. We were able to get a refund on our excursion. We ended up just hanging on the empty ship. DS and I went up to the pool and hung out for awhile.

By Wednesday she was definitely ready to get out. We had a nice day but she still didn't want to go to the clubs - she never did go back. We had a great day snorkeling in Aruba then that night DH had some "issues". Not throwing up but ya know...... that lasted for about 24 hours.

Had good sea days, an awesome day at Castaway Cay, that night ds13 complains of a major headache - gave him some advil, figured too much sun.

He gets up the next morning with the same headache and feels warm. Of course we are in the dining room for breakfast and he is not hungry at all. I knew at that point, he was getting sick too.............we walked out of Animators and sure enough he throws up all the water he had drunk with the Advil. Cast Members rushed over and cleaned it up, he went to the bathroom and finished his business and off we went trying to get off the ship BUT there was a HUGE back up so we waited until we know we could get through and made a run for it. DS made it through two flights and we got 5 minutes from home and again he threw up. After that he was just running a fever. He did miss first day of school but he is feeling better and went to school today.

ANYWAYS, I missed out on a lot of activities we really wanted to do BUT I am glad we are all home and better. Honestly, I feel our trip was a bit too long for us - too much family togetherness. We really banked on the clubs and the kids spending time there but they did not enjoy the clubs this time at all.

I want to say thanks to all the fish extender participants, we really had fun checking it each day to see what we got. Hope everyone enjoyed the Advil and the Princess Chapstick, DH is the Plant Manager at the Wyeth plant here in Richmond.

Have a great rest of the week everyone and I hope all that sayed on for the 5day is enjoying their trip in spite of the weather.

I would bet you will head closer to Ft. Lauderdale to be able to take refuge by keys if needed.

OMG Sue! I'm so sorry about your family getting sick. My DH and I both got Montezuma's Revenge (or something similar) after Puerto Vallarta and were in isolation for 48 hours as well. Concierge service was great, but I would have rather been up on deck. We managed to get a cold/upper respiratory illness at the end of the cruise (like many others), so now we're battling that too. I'm glad everyone is starting to feel better now!

We're supposed to get hit this weekend too with this hurricane. I don't know if it'll still be a hurricane by then, but there will defintely be major flooding. Great.

Hi Everyone!

Brendan and I can't thank you enough for enhancing our vacation! We had so much fun with all of you that we met and hope we can keep our friendships...

Hopefully everyone got home or to their next destination safely!

We got home last night and Brendan's car wouldn't start! Battery gone...had to get a new one (at least it was under warranty!)

And on a sad note..came home to find out that Petey our younger cat had died:sad1: last Friday he wasn't feeling well and they took him to vet on Saturday..cancer was all throughout his body....it was a shock because he NEVER showed any symptoms...we are all heartbroken including my Peanut cat,,he misses his buddy....

Chrissie

Oh Chrissie, I'm so sorry to hear about your furr baby! Kevin and I send our love.

Hi Sue!
I don't think I ever met you (did I?) and I guess this is why... well BOTH of us were having a bit too much family togetherness (minus our stinky teen that we barely saw the entire cruise) for the same reason. How old are your children? Just curious. I'm so sorry your children were sick. :( Well that stinks! Glad they are feeling better now though!

Yep the FE gifts were great. We also appreciated the Advil (had a few headaches going on during the cruise and couldn't find the Aleve and Tylenol I could have sworn I packed!) and Rita still loves her princess chapstick! :)

I must admit that it's us(L to R)Renknt Sarangel(Mike & Sara) and the darling girl is Lexi at La Popa.

Oh yes, we enjoyed it very much! I miss when Rita used to dance around like that (all the time). Tell her we think she's VERY talented! :)

My family is randomly in the background of that picture, lol!
LOL Yeah Rita is randomly in the background too.
I looked at the photos on the shared photo site (the ones there so far..) and see I'm in some random photos undressing! :scared1: (well, taking off -or putting on, not sure which- my coverup over my swimsuit) I'm not really fond of the backside view of me bod. LOL

Our first cruise was to be a 3day. Hurricane Jeanne was coming closer. It wasn't til we left the port they announced a 4 day cruise and we were off the Cozumel. So I can totally see your concern. Hope you have calm seas.

So sorry you were cooped up in the cabin. we got the headcold in PV due to the rain and getting into the a/c. I am still coughing and DH is seeing DR tomorrow for his checkup and I will probably have him see me too. The Advil came in handy. Cheryl found hers as we used up the Tylenol and DH pulled his back a bit so he needed something. Than k you

Ummm the rumor was you guys had put yourselves in Mickey Jail.:lmao: :lmao: Glad it didn't last long. I don't think I met you. Lots I never got to meet.

In cleaning up the goody bag, I want to thank everyone for the great FEs. I never got a good look at some of them and they are so inventive. Back to the clean up.

After P. Vallarta is when our whole scenario started too................we were on the pirate boat sail and snorkel that day. They fed us lunch on that excursion and we weren't too sure if we should eat it. Basically about a day later is when it started. The doctor on the ship classified my daughter as norovirus with a question mark after it. He said that I probably didn't get it as bad since I had a flu shot. I didn't realize that you would have that high of a fever with the norovirus either....there is no way to know if that is what it was but either way Disney was great about it. At any rate, we will file for some type of $$ on our trip insurance but not sure what yet.

After the IV and the medicines they had to give my daughter I figured we would have to pay about $400 in expenses but Disney covered the expense since they were confining us to out cabin so that was a relief at least. I felt they handled it well - as well as they could so I am not complaining.

I have to say though, I have NEVER seen one of my kids THAT sick. DD could not even hold down a sip of gatorade or water. She would heave it right back up and then have dry heaves for a couple more minutes. I really felt bad for her. I was really scared for her too, she was getting dehydrated fast. After the IV though, no more throwing up which was good, she still did not eat for another 24 hours after that!

Oh no!

I don't think I ever met you (did I?) and I guess this is why... well BOTH of us were having a bit too much family togetherness (minus our stinky teen that we barely saw the entire cruise) for the same reason. How old are your children? Just curious.

My stinky teen just turned 13 right before we got on the ship. He was really excited about not having to go to the stack but that he could hang out with the "younger" preteens. But the times he went to the club he just wasn't impressed. It wasn't for lack of not being there becasue he went a lot the first few days but just didn't like it. He really wanted to play Guitar Hero in the tournaments but said ther was always some kid hoggin the game LOL.

DD is 9 and she was enjoying the club and was all set to spend the night the night of the character camp out but that was the night she started feeling bad. She did not eat dinner but seemd fine, we packed her up checked her into the club and went to the show. We got a page about 45 minutes later that Ashton had a "protein spill" and I would need to come up and get her. It took me a few moments to know what a "protein spill" was but I finally figured it out LOL. I think after that night she never went back to the club, she never wanted to. She said it stayed really hot & stuffy in there all the time and she didn't like the "smell".

My kids had more fun hanging with us and tormenting each other for kicks!

I know someone had posted the directions how to correct the colors in underwater photos. Can someone please direct me to these? Thank you!

We finally made it home a few hours ago. We can't walk through the living room as it is wall to wall suitcases here.

Reality will hit hard tomorrow. The kids have school, I have to cram for a test on Friday that I was supposed to be studying for all throughout the cruise. (Deanna, that day you saw me studying on deck was the only time that I did!) I go back to work tomorrow night, and rotations start on Monday. Linda starts back to work with 3 back to back to back 12 hour shifts this weekend.

At least we'll be able to daydream about all of the great times we had and the great friends that we made on the TOAL! We can't imagine a better bunch of pirates to have travelled with. Can't wait to see everybody's pictures as they show up on the photo sharing site!

Glad to read that people are arriving home safely. Hugs and prayers going out to anybody coming home to issues. Also keeping our friends on the 5 day in our prayers for a safe remainder of their journey and a safe trip home.

Hey folks, I hope you can bear with me through another post like this, but looks like I'm in for some rough times ahead. Trevoy is really depressed over being home. This is beyond the normal post vacation blues. He's really down. Added to that is the stress over going back to school, which is his main trigger for his depression. And he's afraid of my brother again. Trevoy was talking to his grandma about the trip and admitted that he got into it with me. My brother overheard and pretty much went off on Trevoy. Unfortunately I wasn't around and don't know exactly what happened.

We've got an appointment next week with the therapist, but I'm going to try to get him in tomorrow after school. I'm seeing the same symptoms as in the past and I fear that another hospital stay may be coming on.

Monica, it was such a pleasure meeting you and Trevoy. Sorry to hear that Trevoy is having some bouts of depression again. Please let us know if there's anything you need.

I think that weather hit a lot of people hard. Our excursion was cancelled that night but they actually took the teens! We went to walmart expecting their teen cruise to be cancelled also and returned to call to see if she was in the stack and they said they actually took the kids out! It was pouring rain when we got back on the ship like a monsoon or something. I was shocked! Our teen was in shorts and tee with swimsuit underneath from our dolphin/sea lion excursions that day... she was freezing to death and ran a bit of a fever that night when she returned but fortunately never got sick other than fever that one night (no other symptoms).

It does seem like I'm hearing more about others coming home with a cough here and there. So far it's just me (which is just a joy let me tell you. I'm the one person in this household that still gets no rest or pampering even when I'm sick! woe is me LOL) -but I'm glad no one else seems to have brought a cold bug home with them.
