I called the camp this morning and asked if they could make an extra toy for him to get on Monday. She said that they people who come from Build-a-bear ask for a head count of who's there that day and will only make that many, but that they'll ask if they can do an extra one for him. I also told him that if they can't do it that we'll go to Build-a-Bear after we get back from the cruise.

Don't know what your schedule is like...but there is a Build-a-Bear in Downtown Disney.

My husband gets his hair cut every week. He's complaining because it will be 3 weeks without a hair cut. Who knows - he may find someplace to go while we are at one of the ports.

Penny

The spa has a very nice hair salon. I had my hair cut last cruise and they did a fine job.

OK guys...I need some more of your experienced help. For those of you who have travelled with door signs, once they are dry, are they ok to pack stacked, or do you put some paper between each sheet? Don't want to ruin all my work. ;)

I put a sheet of paper between each one.

:thumbsup2 It's DIS Lime for Canal Day....right :confused3 ;)
:lmao:

It'll be white Captain Jack TOAL T-****s for a few hundred of us.

Andy
Wow- a few HUNDRED will be wearing the white shirts? I guess I better make SURE I wear my white coverup that day.. since I didn't get the shirt. And poor DH only has the black t shirt, not white! Poor poor DH will feel all left out. LOL

I wanted to catch up- I really did... but I don't know if I will. I was 10 pages behind last time I came to the thread and see another 20 or so past that! ack!

Today wasn't a "good day".
First my hair didn't turn out as "great as it could". I had a feeling that would happen since it turned out GREAT the last 2 times I got it done- so I was due for one "not so great". Just put a little too much highlights and not enough lowlights- so it's blonder than it's supposed to be. Which is okay..... for now. As soon as my hair starts to grow out during this cruise (and it grows fast) it will show dark roots MORE since there is more blonde highlights.. since now my hair grows out so darn dark nowadays! With more lowlights it's not as noticable when my roots grow out some. *sigh* I figured this would happen. I mean what are the odds of THREE times in a row turning out perfect? not good! LOL

And then Ruby.......... ugh
BAnd camp all week and was SUPPOSED to go to this little waterpark we have in town now (used to be the city pool but they changed it to a mini-waterpark with a couple of slides, kiddie squirt/splash area, tiniest lazy river you ever saw :lmao: etc.) on Friday night. But then they changed it on Thursday to just having a band "party" on Friday night instead (in anticipation of POSSIBLE problems with crypto although it didn't happen- I guess they just wanted to be safe about it.)
Ruby said they'd be playing games and some stuff like volleyball/softball. I expressed my CONCERN about her participating because it seems like every single time she does this sort of thing at our church gym with the youth group she always leaves saying she hurt her ankle and limping for a week or hurt her wrist (falling, someone pushing her, someone falling on her, etc.) and I was worried she might get hurt right before the cruise.
You see where this is going, right?
Well she swore she'd be "careful" and apparently our definition of careful differ quite a bit.
Turns out they also had these HUGE jumping slide things and one was like an inflatable wall/slide thing and it's velcro and you wear a almost head to toe velcro outfit. I did not know they were doing all this stuff....

Needless to say I go to pick her up and she's not outside when she said she'd be so I have to go hunt her down.... and see all the stuff they had up and started thinking uhoh...... then can't find Ruby and finally the asst band director says she'll show me where Ruby is (off in a back room where they were playing video games and guitar stuff/etc.) and asks me if Ruby really called me earlier like she said (she hadn't, but had told her band director she had!) That's when she told me Ruby broke her toe.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Well she didn't just break her toe- she lied about calling me so she could continue to play while her toe was broken and apparently ended up SOMEHOW having someone else in the velcro suit FALL on her and her hair get all tangled in it- (even though it was in a ponytail) and it took 3 adults to untangle her hair from the velcro clad band member and Ruby was in the back "game room" brushing thru the tangles.... and tearing her hair up into bits in the process!
Loverly.......... oh so loverly.......

so I was worried with good reason apparently- she returned home with a broken toe and her hair just a mess now- broke off at all various lengths from getting tangled in the velcro suit the other band member was wearing when he fell on her (and apparently struggled to try to untangle her hair until some adults told him to stop and helped her get her hair untangled) and from brushing furiously thru the tangles herself afterwards.

This is my life...... my oldest is giving me gray hairs.

Can they do anything about toes? It's her "middle" toe (LOL) on her right foot. Am I thinking right that they can't really do anything for that toe anyway? Ofcourse Ruby says she's FINE FINE FINE (cause she wants to go on the cruise and swim with dolphins/etc. ofcourse) but she is limping some.. what fun we'll have walking around DL and since it's just me and the kids it's not like we can divide up (me and Jeff) if Ruby's foot starts hurting too much. Since it's just me and the kids that week at DL- we're ALL going to be limited by how much RUBY can do with her broke toe. I'm so frustrated with her. If I'd known all this was happening I'm totally serious I wouldn't have let her go.. I know her... I know how she gets hurt in some way everytime she does stuff with the youth group at church so I would have known she'd end up hurt if I'd known they had these huge inflatable jump things and velcro wall/velcro suit. I guess I should count my blessings that she didn't hurt herself worse- could have been much worse! :scared1:

I need that emoticon where the smiley face is banging his head against a brick wall. *sigh*

Oh and apparently my body decided right now would be a good time to start swelling up (hands and feet and ankles) for some reason. I have no idea why. the only time I've ever swelled up like that is A) when pregnant with Rita and B) towards the end of our last cruise- that's it. So why now? why? tell me!
(and now I can't be pregnant! :lmao: )

I knew my fears weren't unfounded (fears of someone getting hurt before the cruise... I really meant it when I said I'd like to put my kids in a bubble when I said it last week!)

Have a safe trip!!:wave2:

As for me...

I have FINALLY booked our flight!!
I had to get DD to push the continue button. I was starting to have a panic attack just thinking about it.:scared: SInce we are not leaving until the day before, there is no chance for me to back out and drive since I cannot possible get there in 24 hours.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Yes, I have to try to get myself to just laugh about it...:rolleyes1

Caroline, you just might have to do what some of us here do,get some Happy Pills from your doctor! I can't/won't fly without them!!

odd question...
does anybody know if the medical center onboard has a nebulizer to "use" for breathing treatments? or how to find out?

It would be so much easier to just pack meds & tubing, if we could use their machine on occasion, if needed.

Thanks!

I bought myself one of the new Travel Size nebulizers.

Sorry to hear about Ruby's mishap today. The only thing I know to do with a broken toe,is to tape it to the next toe,it acts like a splint.

I've skipped a bunch of pages as I've had a really incredibly busy and stressful week at work - its all sorted now but I'm glad that week is done!

4.5 work days to go, we finish at lunch time on Friday and our flight is in the afternoon on Friday.

Mum saw the cardiologist last week and in his opinion she hadn't had a heart attack and can not find any damage or cause for concern. He thinks the machine was being over zealous in its readings. Good news definitely!

Today we did a bunch of chores and I got a couple of books from a charity shop to bring along for the book exchange.

Our house sitter called today to go through things, she seems lovely and the dogs liked her. I hope she treats my babies nicely and that they behave for her.

I finally saw Mamma Mia today and it was a great feel good movie. I'll definitely see that again on DVD. Even Mum liked it and she doesn't like Abba music.

Tomorrow we have a few odds and ends to finish up but are mostly "done" from our list of stuff to be done. I even have written out a meal plan to get us through to Thursday night so we don't need to think about it. Robert's Mum is cooking us dinner tomorrow so that'll be nice not to have to think about it.

Night to those still awake and morning to those just getting up - I can't wait to see you all in person next weekend!

Safe travels to all and a huge THANK YOU to all those who have arranged, helped, planned and joined in the fun to truly make this a TOAL!

quoting myself to add:
I forgot to also mention that in one week of band camp she somehow managed to COMPLETELY CRUSH all the stupid styrofoam molding inside her stupid SOFT sided clarinet case. ugh I knew that case wasn't a good idea! But she thought it was "cool" -much cooler than the old hard case I already had. I should have known she'd need something more durable! So now when I have a ton of other things to do I'm browsing online to buy another clarinet case. She can not carry her clarinet around like this- it's completely demolished inside so it's like the pieces of her clarinet are just -well imagine all loose in a case just banging and clanging against each other- not good for delicate keys and such.
sigh..................................
I'm gonna try to get some sleep though. registration/fittings is tomorrow and I'll work on ordering the case online tomorrow and maybe it will be here by the time we get back. LOL (yes mail is on hold while we're gone- I mean arrive to the post office while we're gone LOL Closest music store here is about 45min away so I might as well buy it online! shipping cost the same as gas plus takes less of my time too LOL)

For thoose with family following the Magic transit of Panama this is the schdule from 2005, I would think it will be very clsoe to the times for this transit as there isnt a lot of scope for time changes as it takes a full daylight transist.

In 2005 we were at Dinner at 6pm when we were in the final locks and didnt clear until 7.30pm.

Okay ... Here is a classic night before vacation story. I finished packing tonight, as I am leaving tomorrow afternoon. So I'm weighing my luggage and I'm not really sure how it happened, but I managed to stub my toe. Not just stub, but pulled the toenail partly off. Now I am in pain, and have to cancel my pedicure. Someone feel pity for me ... Pleeeaaaasssee

:headache: :headache: :headache: :headache:
Oh I'm feeling more than pity, I'm feeling sympathy pains with ya:scared:
I've done that several times to both big toes, what a bummer:sad2:
Make sure you bring very comfy sneakers (or closed toe sandals) for walking on excursions:hug:

Can someone enlighten me as to why I am taking 3 ungrateful children on a TOAL?

Because, like me, you can't leave them at home and you're going no matter what!

Now I said I would only do this if I was the first to board... so who can make this happen?:rolleyes1 :worship: :rotfl2:

Don't say that! Wheelchairs go first!

Okay, I no longer feel sorry for your long flight which is 2x the length of mine.

Furthermore, I will try not to think of you while boarding and heading toward the back of the plane with 4 kids and a car seat. Have one of those free drinks for me, will you? :goodvibes
