:yay: ...when i was almost done packing, then....it hit me....:scared: ,

........i forgot..to leave..room for my nakey-rugby...jeserys, :scared1:

....hympers....if i could just make..a card ~ board cut out of mike &

..his ears..speedos...then i could save..valuable space....by pasting

...that copy..on all my nakey jerseys? top  's  ?!

ms. dahuffy...i have to say...you make some..of the sweetest..observations,
anywhere. & you love dogs?! , :thumbsup2 ...what a lucky fella...finding a
real dream~maker. kindness is always ..in style. & very :cool2: way...
to leave...an impression, in my opinion.

pixiedust:
what an amazing story...of faith changing fate, lisa. :flower3: . [ alot
of disney's magic that has my most interests...come from the things
my children experienced ...and repeated back..when i have least
expected it. ]. 99 was our first cruise..& i had no desires to go. it
was seen as a burden...but i had made a promise many years..prior.
[ while the magic..did set sail 98, it took my wife.. that long..to nagged
me...into...going. ] :lmao: . sooo the real reason...of having to put up
with me...is all my wife's fault. oh, & maybe...the things..that happened
on our last 5 cruises, :rolleyes1

..so what you're saying?....your husband...is alot smarter than you gave

him credit? [ i can imagine..my wife..thinking the very same

thing].

comin here?...i never imagined..keeping up or reading...but everyone
stories....have been "pleasure reading"...even working thru life challenges.

* @ my work...we have developed...our unit....into a "life support"
system...but our greatest..gains..has came..from "tapping" into our
persoanl resources....& evualting...the lack of progress...[ making
alternations]. that is our challenge. the "art" of teaching human beings
..."being" the best they can be with the time they have left. ha! the
same factor..we're all under. anyhoo...one of my most sucessful
area..has been from the time..i used to be a paperboy & all the
"facts of life"...my customers..used to share. [ including most of
my most sucessful accomplishments in life]. especially coping skills,
and interacting..for positive outcomes. often..the solutions for some
of our most preplexing problems...are defined..by common sense &
family values....& they just need a lil' faith to suceed. :thumbsup2

just the other day..the history channel...did a show..about hilter's
"superior race". by nature...they're doing dino shows...& if history
repeat itself...the lessons...gained by extinction......has a say....
about human dynamics..too.... , so when i compared the 2, i
felt...the values of many cultures...is our best hope...that our
superior race...is supporting all races..living in harmony....creating
...an immune defense..against microbio. , that shields human
beings...from being wipe out.....by germ "warfare"...interesting, it
is in our best interests...for chosing tolerance...over intolerance.

to me. this is why..dcl cruises..are exciting...meeting different people
from all different..backgrounds...& sharing our ways of life.

i used to read books on geography..and dream of visiting those far-
off places...who'da thought..i be bringing....the family..with me?
 however, the aspect..that even more "out there"...are those
..i met.....in the begining.....that offered guidance & support. all
of my sucess stories..in life...are connected to those intrapersonal
encounters.

sometimes..the things..going on here..have reminded me of those

dear persons..caring enough in life..to share..their remarkable insights.

"door magnets"...some have inquired about them ...on the main boards.
* what they reminded me of....when we used..to "hang our worn~out
baby shoes"....on the review mirrror? [ of course, the special one
crash invented ...with the ladies...bloomers...flapping in the wind,
may..left another impression...:rolleyes1 ].

m&m's..roller backpack...story....took me back to our lil' princess: ,
and our christmas trip. she still took ..her minnie's rollin' pack...
but...she had made...a new & more mature...cartoon that she
covered minnie with. it was sooo :tink: lil'miss attitudes...&
:sad1: ...@ the same time. when she was a baby..i used to whisper,
don't you dare grow up. well she listens...like every other kid.

"us"?..iam jealous..some are laready..getting to leave, by..pirate: .

so i poted..the only..i kno how, complained..to my lil'miss. :wizard:

..heck..i didn't even kno...when or how, . i think...we are
leaving.....on the friday evening before...& flying out columbus....
[ i hope..we have some sorta..of car arrangments...or... i better
get looking...for the "hitchhikers' guide..to the galaxy, or { the
second star...to the right, :tinker: ..or is that left? }

* can you imagined..us wearing..grass skirts..& all sticking our legs

out? :scared1: ...makesone wonder..if thats where..elvis..got "return

to sender". pirate:

I
I keep thinking I am finished shopping and DH says "when we stop by ABC this weekend I need XYZ." He leaves all the planning, packing, etc. up to me. He does carry the luggage, which will be 4 bags for the 2 of us. Nice to have a pack animal along.:lmao:

\LOL I asked Dh this morning if he needed anything for the cruise.. he said no he is just fine... that is until Friday night 8/15 at 10 pm.. then he will suddenly need socks or something... :confused3 since we leave Saturday 8/16 at 6 am.. nothing I can do about it.. I keep telling myself.. there is a walMart in PV..so for what I forget, i can run to walmart at PV..

I just wanted to show everyone how talented our Little Miss Chrissie is with her artistic talent. She made this for me:hug:  and I will be hanging it on my Mickey Wall in the kitchen. No time to have John make a frame or mount it before TOAL.

tn.jpg

I tried resizing but alas my photobucket will not work.

Thank You Chrissie!!!

So sorry Laura!!! I pray for you & everyone here that from now on, all goes well so that we can board the TOAL with no problems, stress, etc. :wizard:

So true.. and well put.

. I'll remember you in my prayers Laura..

My neighbors take our Cockapoo, Rosie, & good thing because she doesn't do well in the kennel. She is so neurotic & afraid of other dogs that she just sits & shakes the whole time & doesn't eat. :guilty:

My cat Sweetie is being watched by the boys..I am paying them for scooping and feeding and brushing.. but I am having a terrible time finding someone to watch them.. no one wants to watch ST

ITA! It isn't a vacation unless I forgot a couple of things. Last time it was dress socks for DH! Not a big deal, he just loved those $40 Mickey dress socks! Plus I forgot my Tums & all they sell in the shop are those teeny weeny itty bitty packages so I was buying them every day for about a dollar a tablet!

Very nice! :lovestruc

yep i know the drill.. everytime we go away it is such fun to see what i forgot..

Wow! Did anyone else see the stock market today? Up 331 points!!!

dow100.gif

That's only 2.94% up...

... the current level of 11,615 is only 2215 up from the 5 year low of about 9400. This represents a TOTAL 5 year gain of 23.56%. This translates into a 5 year ANNUAL compounded return of slightly under 4.4%. This excludes dividend reinvestment - which should add abit over a point or so ... give or take a little.

Of course, we've had a lot of changes over the years in the companies that comprise the DJIA. Companies change in the DJIA group - and this makes this index subject to unnatural change. Indexes like the S&P500 are subject to less manipulation... supposedly.

At any rate... I tend to not pay much attention to the daily swings of the DJIA... except as a narrow and simple measure of market activity. The movement of a few companies and industries which I tend to follow - now THAT gets a lot more attention from us... naturally. And bear in mind ... as a small potatoes investor - what I follow is nothing that should concern anyone seeking to follow the smart money. On the other hand ... if anyone were interested in what the "INNOCENT" money was doing... < wink >

By the same token... I just happen to have a good friend from bible study who recently landed a job at a hedge fund out here. Thier clients start with a minimum of 10,000,000 clams and... my friend - although well credentialed - is young, painfully inexperienced and seems to confide in me with questions posed about what I think is happening with the market as opposed to thier technical approach. I tend to scoff a bit at thier technical rationalizations a bit - and more so at thier general investment performance. Given thier resources - as with any multi-billion fund - I am constantly amazed at how the majority of these funds UNDERPERFORM the average performance of the market! Hah! IE, you'd do better than the majority by NOT choosing thier investment advice and instead investing in an INDEX (Indexing) of the entire market! Not to say we exclusively index our holdings.... < wink > Alas, my friend is still learning... and must be credited with not revealing too much in the way of his company tactics and strategy.

At any rate... I could not resist. I'm always fishing for like minded souls with occassionally contrasting opinions in industries and fields not typically followed. Get my drift.... ?;)

OK... I'm now off for the Ventura County Fair! Today is ... you guessed it .... a special FAMILY day with admission of only $1 per person. Free parking and kids under 6 get in free. SO this is costing me TWO BUCKS... plus gas which is costing me a lot more. I figure it's about $12 in fuel to get there... but after the FAIR I'll take the kids to the adjacent beach for an hour or so... shoot video... pack my own lunch for us so the FAIR food booths will neither get our time in line of pocket change. Unless I spot a short line for a yummy confection... that might get my attention!

I will try to post a few pictures later tonite... after I attend a mandatory AYSO team manager meeting.

Hope everyones' day goes well... cheers!:surfweb:

Oh I'm stressing on this packing thing. I'm working on it but I can't make up my mind what to do!
I can't decide if I should cram as much as possible in our carryons to try to make sure we don't lose anything in case our luggage gets lost- but I can't fit it ALL in carryons so then I'd have to have checked luggage too and that would be a pain to have both carryons and checked luggage when it's just me and 3 kids (most of which aren't much help with luggage so that might be more trouble than it's worth)
or
If I should just cram it all in checked luggage, not worry about having to mess with more luggage/carryons with the kids- and just cross my fingers that none of our luggage gets lost? I just get so worried about that happening because it would be a nightmare to arrive and be missing luggage, ESPECIALLY if it was luggage that had MY clothing in it or other necessary items (because it's not easy to find clothes that fit me well..... that's another nightmare for me- trying to find clothes that fit :lmao: )

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh calgon take me away! I really just cannot decide which to do.
What are the odds really of luggage being lost? I guess maybe I shouldn't even worry about it because after hearing about some luggage being lost by DCL (and the other people who got it by mistake keeping it in their rooms until the last night- which totally STINKS btw.....) we'd stand a chance for our carryons to get lost by DCL anyway! I mean what if we go thru all the trouble of tons of carryons (one each I mean) and dealing with that- only to have DCL lose one or something?
I just want all my stuff to make it there. LOL

Horror stories notwithstanding, the odds of DCL losing your luggage are pretty small.

As someone else mentioned: If you have a non-stop and check in early enough, the odds of the airline losing your luggage are pretty small.

If you have connections, (especially tight connections) and are arriving in L.A. on Friday or earlier, even if your luggage is delayed, it should get to you on time.

Worst case - tight connections and arriving day of the cruise - those people should talke all possible precautions.

What are all possible precautions?
- Extra baggage delay insuance (DCL insurance includes some)
- All critical needs + 1 days closthing in your carryon
- Distribute clothing among different suitcases
- Include copies of your itinerary with contact info in the luggage and the luggage tag.

Here's what our luggage tag looked like last summer in addition to our names (numbers changed):

If lost, please deliver this luggage as follows:
Passenger contact phone # (408) 555-0071 (U.S.) or 44 792 555 4049 (UK)
July 27th (evening) – July 28th (morning) Hotel AC Barcelona: Paseo Taulat, 278 08019, Barcelona Spain Tel 934898200
July 28 (evening) -August 8 (morning) – Disney Magic July 28th sailing. Please contact Disney Cruise Line at 1-800-395-9374 (USA), 00-800-871-9046-0 (Europe) for instructions. Reference passenger reservation 22222222
August 8-11 London Marriott Hotel Maida Vale - Plaza Parade, Maida Vale
London, England NW6 5RP United Kingdom Tel 44 20 7543 6000
On or After August 12, call (408) 555-0071 or (408)555-6750

Some trip insurance companies provide baggage tracking services as well - have never used them, so I don't know how well they work.

If your luggage doesn't make it, don't panic - go shopping. The airline or DCL will likely provide some compensation. And your trip insurance will kick in. Just be sure to keep all documentation and receipts.
Also, be sure to stay in close contact with guest services. I don't know what kind of support they can provide on this cruise - being a one-shot. But in Europe they had to deal with this a lot, so they were totally set up to track down luggage and get it delivered during the cruise (that's what happened to us).

You keep saying that you will be handling the luggage on your own. Don't they have porters at LAX? I have always seen them at the major airports around the luggage retrieval area. It would be well worth it IMO to tip one of them to take care of your luggage while you keep up with the kids.

Don't forget about curb-side checkin as well. Depending on airport and time of day, the lines at curb-side checkin may be much shorter. This can save you stress and more - on one recent flight using curb-side checkin was the difference between making my flight and missing it.

Yeah it is good news... Well mostly anyway. We still have no answers for why she has had diarrhea for 3+ months now! The Drs seem to think it's 'normal' for some kids!

When DD turned 2 we switched her from full fat milk to semi skimmed. Shortly after she developed diarrhoea. Apparently not enough fat in the diet can cause "toddler diarrhoea". Switched her back to full fat milk - problem gone! She's now 3, but I haven't got the courage to try swapping again

Just got me a new tank for TOAL!

Well..quite the morning! Still haven't done our school day. Took DD to the doctors..as I expected..she needs some antibiotics..unfortunately..then they sent us to a lab to get another test done..if the test comes back that she needs a stronger antibiotic..then the ones i just paid for are no good and I get to purchase something else :headache:

She has to take the antibiotics for 10 days so that takes us right up to the last possible day before the TOAL..unless we switch..then I have to firgure it out for the ship....

Kids..gotta love em!
