Hi - We are joining this link very late! We are once again going on the EB repo. I never imagined that we would have this chance for another!
We are myself, DH and two sons ages 13 and 14.
We are taking a private tour with Mr. Emerald (just like a lot of the pirates I found out) in Cartagena. Since there are only 4 of us, Lee suggested that I post here to see if another family or group would like to join us. The price for the 4 of us is around $53 a person but if we got more people that would go down. We will be going with a narrative guide to the fortress, gold, church, and a shopping stop. The highlights of the island. Time about 4 hours. Mr. Emerald has a great reputation here and on cruise critic.
So - if any Dis'ers are looking for a more private tour with a reputable operator that will pick us up right at the dock, please PM me.
Looking forward to the chance to meet some of you - wow - you sound like a fun bunch!

Maybe we should ALL put this request on our comment cards on the TOAL

I really should get back to work

That and FREE POPCORN!

Final suitcase will be packed tomorrow and I am ready to go!

Found this on MSN... I'm telling you...charges for the potty..won't be far behind!

http://travel.msn.com/Guides/article.aspx?cp-documentid=577877&GT1=41000

Soon they will just have big open spaces with the overhead grasp bars (or hangs bars for us short people) like on mass transit - so they can charge extra for seats!

I am so jealous of your packed bags. DH is upstairs assembling uniform parts right now. When I did laundry this weekend, I rescued the kids decent shorts and nicer t-shirts, so those are in the guest room now. They don't have to look decent for the next 11 days. No, seriously, they don't - hockey camp this week (which means 3 cruddy t-shirts, 3 pairs of socks & 1 athletic shorts, per kid per day), kid's triathlon on Sat. (swim suit & cruddy t-shirt), packing and cleaning on Sun. (cruddy clothes), and 4 days of baseball camp next week (cruddy t-shirt & athleic shorts). They have at least one decent non-cruise outfit for church on Sunday, so they are good to go! Ohhhh, just realized Sunday's church clothes can also be first-day-of-school clothes since those have to be ready before we leave. Good golly this whole trip takes a lot of coordination!

I have a fun project tonight - jewelry packing. I need to decide what I'm wearing with each dress.

If you look closely, you'll see dirt in her teeth...Ugh! She won't eat food but she'll eat dirt.

:rotfl2:
What a cutie!

Well it wasn't! She was really getting tired of the little hair sticking out on the sides when she put her own hair up for dance. Forget about her letting ME do it. She actually had a mullet!!:scared1: She is not allowed to touch scissors unless she asks and has been doing very well with that. She even keeps asking me when she will be allowed to use them without asking first. I tell her when she is 12.:lmao:

But really, I knew they were just baby curls as Amanda had more than her!!

You may want to hold off a few more years....I distinctly remember being in a hotel room with 5 friends on a skating trip when I was 15, all of us with our hair in pretty little buns...and cutting/shaving stripes into the sides of our heads between the bottom of hairlines to above the top of our ears.

Our moms were not happy. :sad2:

HEY...I'm just happy someone noticed I was missing!!! That ALONE is worth a drink :cool1: I know he answered for me but he was right.....I keep telling the kids when they ask why they can't use my computer to play games that "if mommy doesn't finish her homework then she can't go on vacation!". I just have waaaayyyy toooo much to do in order to leave without feeling that I didn't finish up all could beforehand. I know; it stinks...but it makes a few weeks away so much more refreashing!:dance3: GIVE ME A "you go girl" if ya know what I mean!!!!!":cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

YOU GO GIRL!!

I really admire what you are doing. I would LOVE to go back and work on my PhD, I just can't figure out how to make it all work. Obviously, you have.

Mommy's homework comment made me laugh. DS9 started K as I was starting my 2nd year of grad school - full time classes, plus teaching. He really, really didn't want to start K. He was never a clingy kid & he had been to pre-school, so it didn't make any sense...until he told me he didn't want to go to school because he would have homework. The poor kid was picturing himself coming home every day grad-level homework!

Does whoever created the original pirate banner design, just have the skull and cross bones from this design? If so can you please post it.

Thanks!

If he doesn't pop in, PM Todd (disneyvegas1)

OK so did anyone else count their magnets or am I just nuts? Do they have a +/- 5% rule? We're short 6 magnets on our order... Should I argue this with them?

Wow I thought you'd close out the thread this weekend while I was gone. I'm terribly disappointed! We visited my parents and various other family members for the weekend for my niece's 2nd birthday. My niece likes to explain stuff to my DD (19mo). DD was having fun playing in the mud.

If you look closely, you'll see dirt in her teeth...Ugh! She won't eat food but she'll eat dirt.

I also found some sand toys that will fit in the suitcase for $1 on clearance at Walmart! :thumbsup2

She's adorable!!! ANd all kids eat dirt! LOL! And bugs! :rotfl:

I've been meaning to ask, with that logo of a martini glass on your posts (or a thong depending on how ya look at it ;) are you doing the martini tasting? I do believe I "owe ya one" at some point:goodvibes

Shella, are you going to have time to do anything besides drink with people? :rotfl: :rotfl:

Just about to start ketchuping up and hopefully I'll find an answer.

But....when trying to print the full navigator today my computer froze and only printed half. I had to shut down and go back in. Didn't have time for that this morning and now when I try to access it, I get a message saying "The file is damaged and cannot be repaired"

HELP!!!!!

:confused3 I just went to the PZ and it opened jsut fine for me.
Were you trying to print from your downloaded copy? Maybe try going to the site again and starting over?

What a cute story!!! Poor boy, I would have been afraid to go to school! :)

There ya go... So they'll do that instead of just getting rid of that "service" like most others have.

ok folks. My son just got home.. so I have to go and talk to him about his day.. If anyone can tell me of any movies.. Thanks in advance..

Happy packing..

Boy oh boy... I just read "Happy panicking". Maybe I should get my eyes checked...

Shella, are you going to have time to do anything besides drink with people? :rotfl: :rotfl:

OH I HOPE NOT! At least not when I have "mommy time". Obviously can't do that when there is kid-time; but why would I be going on this TOAL if there was something else to do but have a drink with a friend :thumbsup2 ....perhaps I am too optimistic.....ya work, stay home full time, go to college and you lose perspective when a trip comes along eh????:drinking1 anytime I'm not doing family time and the DH and I can get some time with friends we'll TAKE IT :)

:confused3 Does anyone know what movies will be showing during our cruise??

Interested to see what we should see know or wait for the cruise..

Thanks for any info..

I know that Wall-E and Swing Vote will be playing along with some old standards...College Road Trip, National Treasure II, Narnia, etc.

:rotfl2:
What a cutie!

Thanks!

I know many kids do. My niece doesn't seem to think the shovel is just a large spoon....

Sydney had her first encounter with a persistent fly on Saturday too. It would land on her arm and she would go "eeeh" and shake her arm. It would then land again somewhere else.. over and over. :lmao: In between, she'd eat dirt...:confused3

I hear ya, Sister! :woohoo:

We all know that I'm going to be the *mean* mom forcing her 10ds to stay in the Lab! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

*Mommy wants to do something withOUT you sweetie.* :rotfl: :rotfl: He really doesn't understand that concept!

Can you recommend a good restaurant in PV?? DH loves Mexican food, and well..youcan't get the good stuff in Jersey..

BTW our NY chow mein is the veggie mix served over rice and crispy noodles.

Thanks.

Pipi's is good food and a great fun environment. They mix guacamole right at your table and will make it as mild or hot as you want. There's a strolling mariachi band and sometimes other live music. This is a great overal fun time. http://www.pipis.com.mx/

Another fun time is at Burros Bar. How can you go wrong with a bucket of bear or a giant margarita. The food is decent and the drinks are outstanding. http://www.mexonline.com/burros.htm

The best food though, although not as fun of a meal is El Andariego. Enchiladas Rancheras....YUM!!! http://www.mexonline.com/burros.htm

when ya are from ohio, have ties to OU....they don't rank us #1 in party schools anymore because they decided we were "professionals" and they only rank amateurs (he he...yes I am "kinda joking").

thanks for the kind words on what I've been doing; but honestly it's been a tough road....(as my DH would tell ya). It's worth it if you can find a happy medium between staying home with the kids, working on your PhD, and still being a wife (at least some of the time.....anyone who's been there will likely tell ya that those of us who do it OWE our spouse BIG TIME.....:rolleyes1 .

For the record, if anyone is doing their dissertation (or considering a PhD) please don't lose my email address...or I'll pass along a "real" one outside of disboards. It helps if you have someone else to talk to, consult, or to commiserate with....it's hard to do alone and I'd offer what help I can give to ANYONE considering or doing it! Otherwise......."drink up me 'arties, YO HO!" :lmao:

I am starting my panic attack mode right now!(my happy pills have not started yet!!!!).

What to pack, do I really need to take this? I know I always overpack but you would think(yeah right) after three cruises and multiple trips to WDW I will pack less!

Everything is laid out and the space bags are ready!!!!

Now the task "Take it or leave it"!!!!

Karen

When in doubt........bring it!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Thanks to the gang who prepared them

OMG...I KNOW.....we feel SOOOOOO bad saying "go away....at least for a little while so I can have mommy time!"......see.......you need a drink with friends too!!!!
