Yep. The weather map that showed lightning strikes was practically solid white. The number of lightning strikes per minute was just phenomenal. This type of storm rarely hits here, but last night was certainly bad.

When the storm first hit, I could hear a tree snapping in the backyard right outside my windows. Thankfully the top of the tree fell opposite the house.

The community right next door to us (Griffith, IN) was clocking wind gusts up to 88 mph. That town sustained the majority of damage.

However, where I live, there are still 63,000 without power. Earlier today we were without water as well. There were so many water line ruptures that the town turned the water off a while so that they could effect repairs.

Here at the parish, aside from tree limbs as well as a tree falling on the convent garage and another tree falling against another of our houses ripping out the power lines, we did not sustain too serious of damage.

The most nuisance damage was that one of the times our power flaked on and off it blew out the power supply to our voice mail system. So, our phones work, but we are stuck taking messages for anyone not immediately available because the computer that runs the voice mail is down for the count.

But, as I say, we are definitely a lot better off than most of the people in our area, so I'm not complaining.

I saw the baseball stadium with people racing out while the sirens blared. :( It looked terrifying.

PS Did I just make up the word "ridiculousness"? if I did, i like it.

ri·dic·u·lous (rĭ-dĭk'yə-ləs) pronunciation
adj.

Deserving or inspiring ridicule; absurd, preposterous, or silly. See synonyms at foolish.

[From Latin rīdiculus, laughable, from rīdēre, to laugh.]
ridiculously ri·dic'u·lous·ly adv.
ridiculousness ri·dic'u·lous·ness n.

You must really be good at Scrabble Mike :rotfl2:

Found my first post for the cruise on page 5, 01-15-2007, 04:51 PM #62.

Sounds familiar and I also remember killing the beast.:confused3 :rotfl2: I also remember my 7 min. hold turn into an 1 1/2 hour wait and watching everything sell out.:sad2:

Wow! Did anyone else see the stock market today? Up 331 points!!!

So it's underwear on HoJo's days, but not in Disneyland? I guess that will save a little space in the luggage! ;)
Not THAT kind of commando! LOL

That would be great if they would let us do that. Katie is exactly the opposite; she is as tall as my 9 1/2 year old and is always doing activities with the older kids so I was going to just figure it out when we get there:goodvibes and hope it goes well !
Hmm maybe we should coordinate going to ask at the same time? Then they can't say well the club is full (to me) and the lab is full (to you) :rolleyes1

That's the kind of thing I never even think about...or notice.... I say..*You look fine!*
Ditto that.
I hope no one is paying attention to tan lines- although I don't have a dress like that. I have what they call around these parts the "cowboy tan"- which means white where the shirt normally is- tan everywhere else on the arms/etc. LOL PLUS I also wear a very plain swimsuit that covers the most areas of my body with wide straps at the top- stays on at the waterparks and stuff really well.... not so good for tan lines. So please don't pay any mind to my weird tan (plus my arms NEVER TAN on the underside- no matter what AND my legs are totally white but the area from capris -that I wear most of the time- down to tan lines from my flipflops crocs is darker- just pay no mind please LOL)

Since most of you won't see our cabin door, we are way forward on Deck 5 so not a lot of foot traffic, I wanted to share two door magnets my friend made for us and for my DS birthday. She has never been on DCL and is going to WDW for the first time next week. I was showing her some of the threads and how creative people get and this is what she surprised me with:

Those are AWESOME!

Oh No! Have spent the last 4 days in the hospital with DH. Drs. say he had a TIA (mini stroke). No lasting difficulties that we know of, but still running lots of tests. Hope they okay us for the cruise. Everything is bought and DD10 is already packed. I have lots that won't get done. Might be the worst dressed but as long as we're on the cruise...:scared:
praying or your husband- and don't worry about how you're dressed. :)

Don't worry. Everyone that signed up and wants to be on the team is on the team. Everyone will have a chance to play.

Peter
okie dokie- good to know. :)

:thumbsup2 Oh Cheryl :rotfl2:

Crash: I don't mind a post at a time.:surfweb:

Hi Tina, you wanted me to join the sprint???:confused3

I heard from the gentleman in the Roy Disney Suite..he is still going on the cruise but not sure that he will open the cabin to view due to some family reasons.

I will check with him on embarkation day and if possible..will add it to the list.

I have given up finishing the packing..it is overwhelming as thing don't fit where I need them to! I am taking a breather and will go back when I can think a little clearer.
I am just not feeling well today and should have just let it go for the day. Now Tori is not feeling well and we have to go to the Dr. tomorrow.

Just one of those weeks!

That was nice of you .:thumbsup2 I hope he will allow us to do so. Did you tell him we like. :cake:

We plan to take an afternoon break at the Neverland Pool every day somewhere around 2-5 PM . . . if I see you there, I'll buy you a drink . . .:goodvibes

What a relief! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes Now you have to give me a break at least until we are on the ship . . .

We'll probably be at the pool in the afternoons. Just listen for us yelling at the kids, can't miss us!:lmao: Maybe we'll meet up with you for a drink at the pool bar! We could probably use one by then.

See you there for sure, then! I love that drink by the pool in the afternoon after running around like crazy since the crack of dawn . . .

Mike, I will just recognize you by your picture in your sig because you know EVERYONE is yelling at their kids at the pool :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Wow! Did anyone else see the stock market today? Up 331 points!!!

That's good news!

I'm so agravated today! Our DVR went out so they sent us a new one... The new one is more defective than the old one!

Then the nurse called from the GI's office. When I last spoke with her, she said we'd be scheduled for the feeding clinic on Sept 5th. Now maybe we'll get in on Oct 3rd. We've been working on this for 7mo now. Apparently a committee decides who gets to go. I can't believe there are that many kids worse off than we are. :badpc: :badpc:

On the upside, all the tests that they ran are normal...

Wow! Did anyone else see the stock market today? Up 331 points!!!

That was some good news for a change!!!  At least I am only losing a little less today than I have lost in the past 9 months.:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Well since your here for the sprint........I was talking about DCL starting to do the linking of Diser's. It was a joke.:rotfl2:

In fact................Kristina just called and was told the linking is not done yet!!:headache: :headache: My ressie is messed up now but who knows what??? Maybe it is the Palo brunch or I have now 128 people I am eating dinner with.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: We will all see soon!!!!!!!!!!!(I certainly hope!!)
