I'm so glad to hear this!!

My MIL is like this. She takes several of her pills and we have to make sure one of us is sitting next to her so that nothing happens.....

I don't mind flying but, I am starting to feel extreme anxiety for the entire vacation. Since I am the only *planner* in the family I feel responsible for everyone to have a good time. I know that makes no sense but, that is how I feel! :confused3

Steph, I feel the same way! I am the one who booked it, pack everything, and feel very responsible if something doesn't go the way it should. Oh well, I just need to relax and know that I did my best and yes, sometimes things do happen. My stomach has been bothering me off and on lately and I think it is some anxiety about the trip even though I am very excited. I'll just keep popping tums!;)

I also understand completely what Bip is saying about her DD always hurting herself. Mine will be at cheer camp right up until we leave on Wednesday and I keep telling her, please be careful. We are heading right from camp to the airport...no time for a doc in the box stop!:upsidedow

Quick drive by...looks like 13 will be finished before long.

I found my Rewards Card. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

It was in my cruise box which I didn't check before because it didn't make sense to me to drop a little plastic card in the big box. But sorted through it this morning, just to check what was in there, and there was my pretty little purple card!

I'm still going to pick up an extra at DL though.

Part 1 the offical line from DCL is carry on, with you,
but lots of reports from West coast cruises, on part 2 the porters do take if its clearly labled and secure and you do not need to carry it around on embarkation.

will the special box make it through the x-ray?

get one of those briefcase dollys to wheel it around?

The airline box is quite large. Think a case of wine with 2-3" styrofoam around each bottle. No way can it be caried onto the ship. Heck given the 9" dimension that Andrew gave us - a regular size case (without any of the special packing material) won't fit. Anyone who's bringing a case is going to have to break it down.

You know, you'd think if the packing is good enough for an airline it'd be good enough for the ship. But you never can tell. :confused3 They may make deeper piles of luggage or something.

Andrew - Interesting. I'll discuss it with DH and see how we want to handle it. But, not now - the timing is all wrong. (One must know one's spouse...) ;)

Wonder how everyone else who is bringing a case is managing it??? Andrew - you got any links to those reports where it was discussed?

.

Yes, thats our seats, flying club world from Heathrow Wednesday morning, they convert to beds 6 foot long, and we have a kitchen to help ourselves during the flight.

Check to0 see if you have a 'New Club World' equipped plane, not the old verison, AFAIK, the transition's still rolling out across the fleet. Even so, the old one is still way nicer than cattle class. Back in the height of the Dot Com boom, we flew First Class on BA from SFO to LHR (and back) - now that was nice. Crazy expensive but nice.

EDIT: Never mind, the the whole fleet has been done - that'll teach me not to fly back to the UK since December of '07.

Hi Andrew!

Greetings from Gate 20, JetBlue terminal, JFK airport -- our flight boards in about 30 minutes and we are good to go . . . next stop, Long Beach, CA!

Have a good Saturday, everyone, and we will see you soon!:thumbsup2

:dance3: :dance3:

This time next week we'll be waiting for the shuttle driver to pick us up

Have fun for us in the meanwhile.

Andy

Good morning,

I hope everyone is well. Going to my son's first parade that he is in. So excited. :yay: about that. I hope that you all have a great day and talk to you soon. Not much longer and we will see each other soon. I am getting nervous now and having a pantic attack. I need to start packing and so much to do.:woohoo:

your friends,

We want pictures!!!!

Have fun!

I'm finishing up my FE gifts, and I'm stressing a bit. We came across a pretty cool gift at an unbelievable price early on, so we bought 100 of them, which we thought would be enough. The FE list has grown to well over 100, so we don't have enough of that gift to go around. We came up with something else for the same cost, but it doesn't have the same WOW factor. The only fair way we came up with to distribute them was to go back to Julie's FE list where there 99 cabins listed, and give the first gift one per family to the first people who signed up. We will still give something to every family(just no way to tag that one), and we also have something for each pirate, so we're not trying to stiff anybody. I just don't want anyone to feel slighted and wonder why they didn't get the first gift. I hope everyone is OK with this. :goodvibes

I was just reading this:

"Bellagio: Inspired by a village on Italy's Lake Como, the Bellagio boasts Las Vegas' most unusual lobby ceiling, an exuberant, Dale Chihuly-designed, blown-glass creation that tempts many a photographer to plop down on their backs to get the best shot of it..."

Wonder if any of them make carpet angels?:lmao:

:lmao: :lmao:

That will probably be me - we have a flight at 6:50am EST on the 17th
Now everyone subscribe to this thread so that we can find it again when we return ;)

Yeah, we'll have to subscribe to #14 probably, not #13 :)

Quick drive by...looks like 13 will be finished before long.

See like I do... Put it somewhere where I won't forget it... Then panic till I find it in a perfectly logical spot where I couldn't have missed it! Seriously that's good news that you found it!!

Why are you talking to yourself?

Ahoy Crew!:wave2:

Oh... REAL CRUISE QUESTION...

I expect you've discussed it recently, but I haven't been around the last few weeks. How do we get our booze on board? Like the airlines? Box it and send it through the porters? Or do we have to unbox it (from the airline box) and carry it onboard?

Sorry for the groundhog!

Finally... Ahoy! and Welcome! to all the new names I see. It's great to have you aboard.

.

The porters won't take alcohol, you'll have to carry it on yourself. Don't have to unbox it, but the box does have to fit through the scanners.

Okay ... Here is a classic night before vacation story. I finished packing tonight, as I am leaving tomorrow afternoon. So I'm weighing my luggage and I'm not really sure how it happened, but I managed to stub my toe. Not just stub, but pulled the toenail partly off. Now I am in pain, and have to cancel my pedicure. Someone feel pity for me ... Pleeeaaaasssee

OWW! I had 2 of my toenails ripped off but I got some great shots ahead that made the process painfree. Sorry you had this happen.

HAIR UPDATE

Thanks for all the green hair advice. DW went with the swimmers shampoo mixed with baking soda and the results were great. The girls are blond once again. Jack:cool1:

Baking soda? I missed this. I have 2 blonde haired girls that swim all summer. Can someone please share this w/ me?

I'm so glad to hear this!!

Me too. I feel responsible for packing everything- and the right everything-
and making sure everything goes smoothly. The upside is I love it when I hear what a great job I did. That's why we travel with my parents. They actually appreciate everything I do. ;)

Coral, DH had the same experience at the hospital. I was surprised he allowed the girl to poke around so much. He had 5 band aids and a few days later was so angry he made me take a picture to show the Dr the next time we went. Hope yours doesn't get so bad. It was worse the days before the pic was taken.

Arlene- mine is not that deep color but it is that big. It is the biggest I have ever had.

Yay!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:
I always feel so good when I find something I thought I lost.

I can remember several trips telling my teenagers (they are now our adult children - 25 & 28) that they just didn't realize how fortunate they are since mostpeople don't take the kind of wonderful trips we do!
One year when our 25dd was 16 she refused to go on one of our 3wk long trips (New Mexico/AZ) and her older brother (who wanted to go but, I told him to get a job for summer break - he was in college and was jsut home for the summer)told her *Katherine, mom and dad were right! Most people don't get these chances! You should go whenever they are paying!* :rotfl2:

I remember being about 21 when I realized that my parents were indeed very intelligent. I was talking to my niece a while ago, she just got married last year, and I said to her something to the effect that "don't your parents seem smarter the older you get"? She so totally agreed. When we are younger and especially during the teen years we think our parents don't know anything

Sounds fair to me.

I recently lost my $200 Revo sunglasses. I got so mad at myself I replaced them with $12.99 Target sunglasses and convinced myself I was happy. At the pool yesterday I tried on my friends pair of sunglasses and they were SOOO much more clear then mine so now I am on a sunglass quest today.
I HATE buying sunglasses. :sad2:

Yes, and most importantly, NO more diet! :cool1: I'm pretending that all food and drinks have zero calories!! popcorn:: :cake: :drinking1
Hey...they don't call it Fantasyland for nothing!! :rotfl2:

:lmao:

That's when she told me Ruby broke her toe.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

so I was worried with good reason apparently- she returned home with a broken toe and her hair just a mess now- broke off at all various lengths from getting tangled in the velcro suit the other band member was wearing when he fell on her (and apparently struggled to try to untangle her hair until some adults told him to stop and helped her get her hair untangled) and from brushing furiously thru the tangles herself afterwards.

This is my life...... my oldest is giving me gray hairs.

I knew my fears weren't unfounded (fears of someone getting hurt before the cruise... I really meant it when I said I'd like to put my kids in a bubble when I said it last week!)

Oh my....kids!! UGH
As others have said...I would ice the toe on and off if its swelling still, put a little bit of cotton or gauze between the toes so it doesn't get raw or rashy in between and tape them securely to the next toe. Buy closed toed shoes that can easily be put on & off without bumping or tweaking it!

Now I remember why I decided not to put my kids in any of the camps the last 2 weeks before the cruise. On one hand it would have been easier for me to have them gone for 1/2 day so I can get errands and packing done without them...but on the other hand, I was worried about these kinds of accidents!

Best of luck to you guys.......where is that big bubble???
:wizard:

I bought myself one of the new Travel Size nebulizers.
I thought about that, but we have a pretty new regular one and I was hoping not to have any more unexpected expenses. As somebody mentioned to me, I will call the ship and inquire. Thanks for the idea!

okay..... I had been Westbound Panama Canal .....

Happy travels Julie! Its going to be a beautiful day here today!

Happy continued packing & safe travels to everybody!
3 more days of work at each job. Lots of things taken off the list...but I keep adding new things to it!

Mike - I think we're going to have so many FE gifts floating around that no one is likely to notice. :thumbsup2 You do what you need to.

Thanks Monica! We'll figure something out. At least we've got several days at DL to rearrange.

.

Thanks Jo - I read alot & travel alot - so I thought this would solve the weight/space problem. It was an impulse buy. After we get to LA - we'll be at DD's and from there we're bringing lots of books for the exchange - and we're leaving them on board. But now I do feel better about the Kindle.

Laura - I don't know about the Sony - as I said the Kindle was an impulse buy 'cause I NEED to read and I'd rather not add weight w/books.

I looked at the Sony too but I didn't care for the fact that you have to download the books to your pc / laptop first and sync your reader to your computer to get it on the reader.

The kindle works off the same signal that cell phones do and anything you buy is instantly on your unit. I mean within seconds, which means that even if you don't purchase books ahead of time if you are anywhere that has a signal you can go into Amazon right from the kindle, purchase the book and it is downloaded immediately. Also anything you purchase on the Kindle is backed up on Amazon's servers and you always have access to it. That is what made me decide to go with the Kindle instead even though the Sony was less money

Memo to self...to sort my cruise boxes...again!

Its the thought that counts, in my opinion! I just love the idea of the whole thing and don't really care what is left in our FE....its all for fun and surprise! Any gift is just that...a gift!

We were just going to buy our wine when we got there. It would save me a boat load of money if I was able to buy it at home. Where did you get the wine box from?
