Wow- a few HUNDRED will be wearing the white shirts? I guess I better make SURE I wear my white coverup that day.. since I didn't get the shirt. And poor DH only has the black t shirt, not white! Poor poor DH will feel all left out. LOL
I wanted to catch up- I really did... but I don't know if I will. I was 10 pages behind last time I came to the thread and see another 20 or so past that! ack!
Today wasn't a "good day".
First my hair didn't turn out as "great as it could". I had a feeling that would happen since it turned out GREAT the last 2 times I got it done- so I was due for one "not so great". Just put a little too much highlights and not enough lowlights- so it's blonder than it's supposed to be. Which is okay..... for now. As soon as my hair starts to grow out during this cruise (and it grows fast) it will show dark roots MORE since there is more blonde highlights.. since now my hair grows out so darn dark nowadays! With more lowlights it's not as noticable when my roots grow out some. *sigh* I figured this would happen. I mean what are the odds of THREE times in a row turning out perfect? not good! LOL
And then Ruby.......... ugh
BAnd camp all week and was SUPPOSED to go to this little waterpark we have in town now (used to be the city pool but they changed it to a mini-waterpark with a couple of slides, kiddie squirt/splash area, tiniest lazy river you ever saw

etc.) on Friday night. But then they changed it on Thursday to just having a band "party" on Friday night instead (in anticipation of POSSIBLE problems with crypto although it didn't happen- I guess they just wanted to be safe about it.)
Ruby said they'd be playing games and some stuff like volleyball/softball. I expressed my CONCERN about her participating because it seems like every single time she does this sort of thing at our church gym with the youth group she always leaves saying she hurt her ankle and limping for a week or hurt her wrist (falling, someone pushing her, someone falling on her, etc.) and I was worried she might get hurt right before the cruise.
You see where this is going, right?
Well she swore she'd be "careful" and apparently our definition of careful differ quite a bit.
Turns out they also had these HUGE jumping slide things and one was like an inflatable wall/slide thing and it's velcro and you wear a almost head to toe velcro outfit. I did not know they were doing all this stuff....
Needless to say I go to pick her up and she's not outside when she said she'd be so I have to go hunt her down.... and see all the stuff they had up and started thinking uhoh...... then can't find Ruby and finally the asst band director says she'll show me where Ruby is (off in a back room where they were playing video games and guitar stuff/etc.) and asks me if Ruby really called me earlier like she said (she hadn't, but had told her band director she had!) That's when she told me Ruby broke her toe.
Well she didn't just break her toe- she lied about calling me so she could continue to play while her toe was broken and apparently ended up SOMEHOW having someone else in the velcro suit FALL on her and her hair get all tangled in it- (even though it was in a ponytail) and it took 3 adults to untangle her hair from the velcro clad band member and Ruby was in the back "game room" brushing thru the tangles.... and tearing her hair up into bits in the process!
Loverly.......... oh so loverly.......
so I was worried with good reason apparently- she returned home with a broken toe and her hair just a mess now- broke off at all various lengths from getting tangled in the velcro suit the other band member was wearing when he fell on her (and apparently struggled to try to untangle her hair until some adults told him to stop and helped her get her hair untangled) and from brushing furiously thru the tangles herself afterwards.
This is my life...... my oldest is giving me gray hairs.
Can they do anything about toes? It's her "middle" toe (LOL) on her right foot. Am I thinking right that they can't really do anything for that toe anyway? Ofcourse Ruby says she's FINE FINE FINE (cause she wants to go on the cruise and swim with dolphins/etc. ofcourse) but she is limping some.. what fun we'll have walking around DL and since it's just me and the kids it's not like we can divide up (me and Jeff) if Ruby's foot starts hurting too much. Since it's just me and the kids that week at DL- we're ALL going to be limited by how much RUBY can do with her broke toe. I'm so frustrated with her. If I'd known all this was happening I'm totally serious I wouldn't have let her go.. I know her... I know how she gets hurt in some way everytime she does stuff with the youth group at church so I would have known she'd end up hurt if I'd known they had these huge inflatable jump things and velcro wall/velcro suit. I guess I should count my blessings that she didn't hurt herself worse- could have been much worse!
I need that emoticon where the smiley face is banging his head against a brick wall. *sigh*
Oh and apparently my body decided right now would be a good time to start swelling up (hands and feet and ankles) for some reason. I have no idea why. the only time I've ever swelled up like that is A) when pregnant with Rita and B) towards the end of our last cruise- that's it. So why now? why? tell me!
(and now I can't be pregnant!

)
I knew my fears weren't unfounded (fears of someone getting hurt before the cruise... I really meant it when I said I'd like to put my kids in a bubble when I said it last week!)
