DH and I will join you Chrissie - you are not alone. I like the smell - just don't really care for the taste.

I will join the group too. DH likes the smell, but neither of us like the taste and don't drink it. I don't even like the carbonation of soda pop, but DH loves his caffeine in Dr Pepper. We always bring that with us on the cruise.

I just booked a spa appt for this Sunday! I recieved GC over 2 years ago for a day spa by us and have never used them. Figured I would treat myself.

You deserve it! Hope you have a great time.

Did you get my phone message about the time for dinner?

I did, and cannot wait! Thanks for setting that up. :)

A few packing questions:
Looking at the weather post, I am gathering it would be a good idea to bring along a light jacket for everyone?? It looks like the mornings can be chilly... even in summer.....even in California and Mexico?

I am starting to gather up all my theme shirts....embarkation, pirate night, mouseketeer, Fish extenders, SM gifts, FE gifts. Very exciting!! :woohoo:

if you find 3 poor souls on your cabin doorstep...it will most likely be my DH, and DS's 24 & 18...who have smelled out your stash of Dr. Pepper! LOL...its their favorite too!

WOW this thread is flying by as quick as the the days this past week.

Happy birthday to all those I missed - great pics of cakes.

Pixie dust and prayers to all of those who need it.

Monica - I hope the interview goes/went well.

Kristina - that truly SUX about the camera. DS has had shirts go missing from camp while swimming - out from under his towel!

So many good shows to watch tonight - Cruising Dos and Donts and the Panama Canal show on Nat Geo.

I still need to finish up SWAP pieces - but I need to go to Michaels to pick up more adhesive......

2 more Thursdays!!!!!!!!!! no panicing allowed.

I am such a nerd. I bought new walkie-talkies for the cruise. I tried to test them out with the girls and thought I got duds because I could hardly hear anything. So when DH just tells me he needs to go check on some work being done to the perimeter fence of our neighborhood, I made him take the walkie-talkies to test them. He just rolled his eyes so he is not happy with playing twin nerd now.:rotfl2:
I got Motorolas w/ 18 mile range(yeah, right).
Since Megan can check herself out of the kids club I just feel better to be able to keep in touch w/ her.

We have brought ours on previous cruises and never used them but this time with DSs able to go to the Stack I am quite certain they will be sleeping late and staying up way past me! So if I want to see them at all I was thinking we should use the walkie-talkies just to find each other.

I'm there with you, I've never been a coffee drinker. I do love the smell of coffee though.

Ditto, love the smell but have never been able to drink it. A good friend sent me this last week:

If it rains when you are going shopping, its good luck

I am always shopping rain or shine!!!;)

i'm most jealous..of "moodoggie"! ..i bet our lil'miss cheryl..had
him swoonine..and ! let me..guess...he also whisper' " i
want to hold your hand"?

wow..i got a real problem! an intruder...threatening & acting on poor impulse
control. fyi, the professionals...are well aware of his history..& his tendency
to make..records, not ht egold kind. they informed me to take
him serious---duh! i will not allow..my family.., exposed to his inappropriate
behaviors..until we are sucessful..with corrective measures. i kno this is
hard to beleive...but in the first rpeort..he told the officer..he will shoot
in the trees. beleive me, we will not tolerate..such an assault. needless to
say..i had hired professionals suport & taking defensive measures. oh, he has
avoided jail time..by being a "snitch"..for the local authorities. most likely
he has the idea..he can take...continue to break the law.

this is an ongoing..problem..for our law enformnet agency...the in 'tween
where...the delay...actions...when s/s of a person..losing slef control..are
tolerated. the only real actions...victims..can do....is increase their
support systems..& add to their defense planning. one thing we're doing
is hiring...professionals. * because..they kno ..this person..they're adding
2 extra guards.

Little Grumpy...........please stay safe as well your family. This society has changed and not for the good.:sad2: People who do nothing wrong should not have to live in fear.:sad2: :sad2:

I had to call the Enforcement Code Office last week on a neighbor. It is a middle age man who moved in last year. I have never met him and keeps to himself. He had weeds growing over 5 feet high. :headache: :headache: I felt guilty:guilty: calling for help but thought I was being very patient waiting for months.:rolleyes1 The Enforcement Code Office told me not to try and be the friendly neighbor and ask if he could cut down his weeds. :rolleyes1 I could be putting myself in danger. It is a different world out there.:scared1:

Not sure if I have room to pack the speedo given the luggage limitations....

Speedos take up very little room!!

Same here (or Diet Mt. Dew)

I love Light Cherry Limeade made by Coke.:woohoo:

Everyone knows Speedos are so minuscule that they take up no room whatsoever . . .:lmao:

Gee..........you are right..... so bring on the speedos.:lmao: :lmao:

We are bringing walkie-talkies too... They're also Motorolas.

Me too!

I also bought the Motorola walkie talkies but now I am thinking of not bringing them. Desperate for any kind of room in suit cases I can get.

I guess we all better get on different channels.;)

Really? Really?
Yep. Tried them out already. Here we are...

Excuse me........ I just laughed so hard I got pains in my side!!!:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl:

wow! i can't believe how fast this thread is moving!!!
the kids and i just got done doing some tie dye mickey shirts. if you don't see them on the ship, that means they didn't turn out!! LOL!!!

Does anyone have a nice Anniversary door magnet I could use? Our anniversary is 8/20 so I need something for the door with that on it.

Thanks,
Barb and Dennis

True, you can't send them "home", but you can send them back to the parents and tell them that their behavior is unacceptable, and they can no longer be allowed in the clubs because they are disruptive to all the other kids. Real easy to do. You give a few warnings first, then you stop it. At schools and camp kids get suspended and expelled all the time, why should bad behavior be accepted on a cruise ship??

I think DCL was too lenient on those parents and kids. I would have billed those parents for all the items those children broke!!

Oh, I won't argue with that. I'm just being sympathetic to the poor counselors. They don't make the call - I'll lay odds that "kicking out of the club" is above their pay grade.
It's also possible there was nobody to put 2 and 2 together - tie their behavior in the dining room to the various clubs, and realize how big a problem it really was.
It also takes someone to really document the problem - cause if they don't, they open the door to all kinds of legal trouble, not to mention expenses ("DCL put us ashore for no reason in Maztlan, and wouldn't cover our expenses to get home").
So, it's easy for us to second guess them, but even if they were paying close enough attention, it's not always easy to know what to do.
It's really a shame they stopped keel-hauling and plank walking - things were so much simpler then....

On our Med cruise we had door magnets that listed various places on the ship in each row, and a column for each person in the cabin, and a box at the intersection. Then we had some small magnets to mark the location for each person. Everyone was expected to keep it reasonably up to date. Might not have been as effective as walkie-talkies, but it did serve its purpose.

I am not even on that list...that is sad. It's been pretty busy here the last few days, that and packing and getting ready for 6 people for 3 weeks is quite a chore! :scared1:
I better get postin'!

Michelle, I'm not on that list either and I could swear I remember posting . . a lot .. .umm .. the threads are becoming a blurrrrrrr . . .

Must mean I need a vacation!;)

Great idea, Dan!!! I bought a magnetic white board to use for our door. This sounds like a great system.

I was planning to bring the walkies, but I asked DH if he had bought new ones and he said, "No, I still have the old ones. We don't need new ones" Then I asked him how many he had (knowing full well what the answer was going to be). He said, "TWO." And I asked who was going to get the walkies when we have TWO children who will not be on a DCL leash this trip and who usually don't get the priviledge of wandering around town (or ship) without their parents. . ..LOL. DH is still scratching his head and I'll probably have to go buy TWO more walkies b/c HE will want to use them for the kids on the trip . .phew .. .just too funny. I honestly thought he had bought new ones like he mentioned way back when . . .

Two weeks until we leave for DL!! We are just busting to get out of here (well after DH gets back from his work trip to Atlanta . .. )

Happy posting!

I don't think I have a direct line . . . but I might have a party line. 1/2 of my docs are here!

Yeah, but some of the people at your parties have really cool hats!

Ft Morgan is about 75 miles northeast of Denver. Not the prettiest place...looks more like Kansas than Colorado and usually windy! Not even sure if you can see the mountains from there. The good news is that the smell of money should be strong there (lots of feed lots!). And, it will be hotter the further away from the mountains you get. Unfortunately, he probably won't have the best impression of Colorado. Flat, smelly and hot!! I guess the Ft. Morgan Chamber won't let me join!

Well then at least you won't have to endure weekly chamber rubber chicken lunches!

Yep. Tried them out already. Here we are...

Mike actually googled "no speedos", looking for the red cricle sign. When I saw that pic, I couldn't resist. I mean, it couldn't have looked more like Tom and me if we actually posed for that pic in our speedos.

And after seeing all those speedo pics, I'm reminded of the saying, "Just because you can wear something, it doesn't mean that you should."
