You can use your passport as ID or your drivers license.

You keep saying that you will be handling the luggage on your own. Don't they have porters at LAX? I have always seen them at the major airports around the luggage retrieval area. It would be well worth it IMO to tip one of them to take care of your luggage while you keep up with the kids.

They may ahve porters at LAX but I was thinking more along the lines of having to deal with luggage at DFW before the flight, then putting all the carryons above us in overhead bins by myself, etc. All I've ever seen at DFW is the curbside check in.... and that's only for checked luggage. We're trying to take a lot in carryons just to make sure we get them. LOL

Bip - there is probably a Burger King in the concourse when you disembark the plane. Also, a McDonald's fairly close the Hojo's.

Is the burger king open that late at the airport? IDK if I want to walk to McDonalds that late at night. Thanks though, good to know a MickeyD's is close to HOjo's.

I am glad DD25 will be home while we are gone. She can take care of the cats (one of which is hers), the mail, etc. She is also taking us to the airport early Sunday morning. And that means someone will be home with my Mom too. She is 83 years old and I would worry if she were there by herself.

I keep thinking I am finished shopping and DH says "when we stop by ABC this weekend I need XYZ." He leaves all the planning, packing, etc. up to me. He does carry the luggage, which will be 4 bags for the 2 of us. Nice to have a pack animal along.

I hear you.... I'm totally missing my pack animal on the way there, glad he'll be there on the way back! LOL

We've always had really bad luck finding food when we arrive late like that (not just LAX, but anywhere)... We always end up being delayed or just can't find anything. We normally get something on the way to boarding our flight to eat on the plane.

That's what I was thinking- that arriving late it's gonna be hard to find something to eat.. so we better eat on the way! (eating beforehand would be difficult due to how early we have to be there + we're all used to eating dinner later than that so we wouldn't even be hungry yet and if we were- we'd sure to be hungry again later. LOL)

She can also rent one of the luggage carts. I usually do that at MCO and EWR. I plan on doing it at LAX too. I can't imagine them not having the carts for rent.

Never seen luggage carts at DFW.

Hi folks - busy day at the office, so I am just skimming the posts to try and keep up!

Luggage: Not to worry anyone, but I heard a report a couple months ago that a higher percentage of Curb-side Check-in luggage is lost than is regular check-in.

We never trust hotel internet connections... If we use them at all, we don't check any of our financial info on them. DH is a software engineer...

I'm gonna have to pay some bills via internet... that won't let me pay early and won't be able to pay before we're at Hojo's. Should I wait and pay them using DCL internet connection?

DS had the anitbiotics last cruise, three times a day (ear infection) for the entire cruise. Time before that broken arm in a waterproof cast,.....
But on the whole, these are things we deal with right? Count our blessings.

That is true..I do say a prayer of thanks each and every day..I could have done without the trip to the lab tho for a repeat of the same test. The way I tried to look at it..while I was picking up her prescription..I picked up the last few items I needed at the drug store

In a slight panic right now. I have looked all over and I can't find my Disney Rewards Card. I ordered last month and just transferred my latest points over. Went looking for the card to put it in with the cruise documents, but it is no where to be found. Not on the catch all dining room table, not on the shelf with all the other various gift cards, not in any of my purses, not in my wallet, not with my cruise docs. Not sure where else to look.

I will think good thoughts for you..I am forever panicing because things are not where I thought I left them. I know it doesn't help but take a deep breath and check every place you did before and places you don't think it could ever be! We are new to the Disney Rewards card but can they stop the card and replace it in time maybe?

It is so cool - the hoop comes apart for folding - then you open it up and slide this plastic connector over the 2 ends and one full hoop skirt!!

Can't wait to see it! (The entire dress..not just the hoop)

You can also use the 800 number on the card to transfer reward dollars.
I've done that while waiting in line at Casey's Corner in MK. Our card was going to expire before our next trip, we were leaving that day, and I only wanted to transfer enough $$ to pay for lunch!

DH will do it, but by a roundabout method. He uses the internet connection at the hotel to make a secure connection to his office and then does another internet connection there (going through his own firewall) to login to the bank. It probably isn't perfect, but he feels that it is secure enough and since he is pretty paranoid, I feel OK about it

Well..quite the morning! Still haven't done our school day. Took DD to the doctors..as I expected..she needs some antibiotics..unfortunately..then they sent us to a lab to get another test done..if the test comes back that she needs a stronger antibiotic..then the ones i just paid for are no good and I get to purchase something else

She has to take the antibiotics for 10 days so that takes us right up to the last possible day before the TOAL..unless we switch..then I have to firgure it out for the ship....

Kids..gotta love em!

Hope the antibiotics kick in quick!

DFW does have luggage carts. I see people with them there all the time.

I know what you mean about the bills...dh is already worried -- we won't get home untilt he night of the 4th...... In the past when we were gone this long we would have our bills mailed to us (picked up out of our mailbox and then mailed) so, that we could pay them whereever we are...... I don't think we can get mail on the ship! LOL!

Remember I got a call the night before at CC from DD saying she was going to the hospital!!( I was in tears at shutters) Do you also remember it was a false alarm and she waited til 2 am. the day we got in to have the baby and we only had 4 hours of sleep. At least no babies expected this time around!!!

Look behind other C-cards, in wallet/purse/card holder. Check where you put car/house keys/receipts. Check by phone. Under keyboards.

If all else fails, call the issuer and get a rush replacement.

Has anyone figured out if there are any badges that fit?

The easiest requirement is for the World Citizenship badge which has talking with a Scout from another country about their customs, etc.

What else?

I have names of two US Boy Scouts, One US Cub scout, and One UK Boy Scout. Of the US Boy Scouts one is a Second class scout and the other is a Life Scout.

I know the World Citizenship badge is an Eagle Requirement. So the two US Boy Scouts might want to work on that. I am not sure about UK badges and something for the Cub Scout.

Since there are only a few of them and they are at different points in their Scouting careers. Do any of you have a suggestion or something you want to work on? If so you can bring it to do.

We always set up our payments through the bank... The autopay. I set them up, they mail the check. If I don't know exactly how much it's going to be (like utilities), I'll call and ask or guess and usually am close.

I don't think we will ever do that again!!! We changed banks almost 2 yrs ago.....We had all bills on autopay......we changed them......But, some of them decided NOT to change..... the bank started bouncing things (even a mortgage that was from them that we had already sent them the money!!!) that went on for MONTHS!!!!!! It was a horrible situation -- electric & gas were getting paid twice.....

It turns out that if you change banks you have to give them something like 3 or 4 months notice...in other words you have to have the money in both accounts to cover your bills for that length of time!!

We do pay all of our bills online but we will NEVER do autopay again!

Just got back from a day out with the family. Zack chose Olive Garden (with a little coaching ) for his birthday lunch. He ordered off the adult menu, and ate the whole thing! Then we wanted to see Journey to the Center of the Earth, but it wasn't playing at either of the 2 theaters closest to our house, so Linda took Zack & Hailey to see the Mummy 3, and Nick and I wandered around the mall for a couple hours. Not my first choice for how to spend a day, but we actually had a lot of fun, and it was nice to have some one on one time.

I finished up making our matching shirts for Disneyland last night. Now back to some more odds and ends to get done before Tuesday.

This depends on the airport. Always check the tag they put on to make sure it's the correct one. Then, I'll usually hang out in that area until I see the porters deliver my suitcase to security or the belt where the agents take the luggage (this usually only takes a few minutes). Once there, the odds are the same as regular checked luggage.

It depends on the hotel. Wired hotel connections should be fine - just keep your firewall enabled.
Wireless hotel connections are riskier - I tend to avoid using sensitive information, especially given that most of the connections are unencrypted. Always keep your firewall enabled.
