Our last cruise was the final cruise before they introduced the H20 products. However, we have been to WDW since then and used the H20 product at both Deluxe and value resorts. I assume they are the same thing as what's on DCL. Is that correct?

Yes and no . . . same company, but different line (and different smell) . . . also way bigger containers than what you get at the resorts.:thumbsup2

It's actually a really good question. When you think about it, most every other type of natural disaster does come in seasons.
Unfortunately, (or fortunately, depending on your perspective), California has no seasons (at least compared to pretty much everywhere else). And that applies to earthquakes as well. They happen at any time with no notice.
I don't think this is a blonde moment. IMHO, it does seem that when it gets hotter, we have more earthquake activity. But, I'm not sure if that is statistically supported. :rolleyes1
Actually Chrissie we do have what we call "Earthquake weather" When it gets really hot (100+) around here usually in September or October. Most people that live here think this is when most earthquakes happen. But according to Lucy Johnson, our local earthquake expert at Cal Tech, there is no correlation and they can happen anytime.

Thanks everyone for your insight....we don't have earthquakes around here and all I know about them is from science class!

Is the soap and shampoo good enough to worry about getting it back from the cruise???
We won't use it so we won't have the surplus..need the room for actual souvenirs and maybe DCL pens! lol

Got mine yesterday...What's with the bubble wrap envelope? :confused3

I was in the shower...and trying to get out to a door way and yelling for DD to get to a door way....

Hmm funny day for showers.... I was in the shower this AM and the lights went off and then on and then off and they stayed off... Since i couldn't do much without electricity....I went to the gym for the morning...

It was our whole neighborhood out and it stayed out until almost noon (i think...I got home at noon thirty)

Imagine if this was in 2 weeks.....

Now, there is our Little Ray of Sunshine! :)

Jeff Ranieri, a meteorologist with NBC Weather Plus, said the quake occurred along the Whittier and Chino fault lines, not the highly unstable San Andreas Fault.

And went one fault moves don't the other faults near them tend to shift too?

We deal with a tornado but at least we have warning.

We didn't have much warning when an F0 hit our neighborhood a couple years ago.

Forgot to mention............I quit my job so nobody mention it on the ship o.k I will worry about finding another one when I get back. I feel FREE !!:cheer2:

I feel Free too... But this TOAL isn't.... and our bills aren't...

Hey join our job-less club onboard the ship... (We would have t's but they aren't FREE :rotfl: )

I have to look for a job soon after we get back too. I don't think we have to worry because I think the last thing anyone wants to thing about on the TOAL is work!

Diane, you can join us too....

:happytv: so many posts can not keep up LOL:surfweb:

Me neither...I think i skipped about 20 pages or so just to get here...

So I finally made it to the orthopedic doctor today. I now have a walking boot on my foot. Although the doc talked about putting a screw in my foot to hold the bone together and then having me in a cast for 8 weeks. I have another appointment in 6 weeks to check my foot to see if it is healing.

So I hope that my foot heals without the screw.

It will make the trip interesting.

Ok..I have to fill out some paperwork and get out the door to pick up DD school books..

Just checked our backyard..our concrete slab cracked and lifte :scared1:

Other then that...everthing seems ok

Noticed some cracks in plaster outside on the house - looks cosmetic - have to wait until the expert comes home for sure.

Laura
Do you know if you were charged for both incoming and outgoing text messages?

::yes:: both ways are $0.50

The only reference point we have is the 2005 E/bound repo times, the W/Bound this year started at the same 'early' time, but did clear the canal quickly.

Well, this year we were supposed to be first until DCL decided to pay for the nuclear escort. Cue in X Files or Twilight Zone music - I was going to insert my picture I took of the sub, but when I got to photobucket, seems that my sub pictures have mysteriously disappeared. Is this a case of Big Brother? :rolleyes1 Dah Dah Dahdum. Dah Dah Dahdum. :scared1:

Honestly, aside from flying cross country this is something I have thought about never being in CA before. Lots of people tell us that they don't know how we deal with the hurricanes. I would rather have the warning with enough time to evacuate. I would be totally freaking out. to everyone, especially those with kids who are understandably frightened right now. I will think about all of you today and pray that things settle down very soon.

I thought April would be frightened - this was her first major one. She was lying on the table and after the first couple seconds, looks up at me and asks - "Mom, is that an.......?" To which I say, (swallowing my panic as its been going on for more than usual) Yes, Baby, lets just get under the doorjamb. Then it continue and got stronger. Meanwhile, she just continues to say, ok - no problem. That is what really calmed me down. I noticed she didn't have a problem with it but it was scary.

I don't think this is a blonde moment. IMHO, it does seem that when it gets hotter, we have more earthquake activity. But, I'm not sure if that is statistically supported. :rolleyes1

Well, according to the experts - no there isn't an earthquake season but they usually fall in Sept and Oct. Why else would rates go down then? :rotfl:

SO, I go and spend the last 20 minutes typing my story up and lo and behold, the earth gods must not have wanted me to speak, they ended up making me lose by post.

One of the good things about earthquakes in California, is they have increased building codes to make things safer over the years.

If you were wondering what to do, FEMA offers the following (note that doorways is not a favored option anymore):

What to Do During an Earthquake

Stay as safe as possible during an earthquake. Be aware that some earthquakes are actually foreshocks and a larger earthquake might occur. Minimize your movements to a few steps to a nearby safe place and stay indoors until the shaking has stopped and you are sure exiting is safe.

If indoors

[*]Stay inside until shaking stops and it is safe to go outside. Research has shown that most injuries occur when people inside buildings attempt to move to a different location inside the building or try to leave.

If outdoors

  • Once in the open, stay there until the shaking stops. The greatest danger exists directly outside buildings, at exits, and alongside exterior walls. Many of the 120 fatalities from the 1933 Long Beach earthquake occurred when people ran outside of buildings only to be killed by falling debris from collapsing walls. Ground movement during an earthquake is seldom the direct cause of death or injury. Most earthquake-related casualties result from collapsing walls, flying glass, and falling objects.

  • Thanks. We know the hurricane drill but there are a few differences...like being okay outside. Of course, I don't think I like that they tell you to stay inside but then if you are outside stay away from the buildings because most people are injured by the collapsing walls. :scared: I would rather not be inside the buildings with the collapsing walls.

Forgot to mention, Alberstons in Chino Hills was closed. They experienced some problems. The Albertsons in Yorba Linda was shut as well as a few others. Guess who was called in to inspect some ceiling tile damage? ::yes:: that be us. La Habra - where our office is located lost phone service and he couldn't get a hold of me. I could text but no phone calls. He could receive but not text but call certain people. Got to love this phone service! :confused3

Anyway, this means more work for us and hopefully no one is seriously damaged. Meanwhile, we got several of our guys walking some local grocery stores to inspect. DH in a weird sort of way loves earthquakes as it become busy season for us.

Oh yeah, our office guy lives in Chino Hills and his wife runs a daycare center. She was frightened and called him to come home. Can't say that I blame her - I got frightened and I was about 14 miles away too. Less than 20 minutes and on the second floor. But at least I know what to expect and I don't have kids read - plural - kids to take care of. Ok folks, talk to you all later.

Did I mention that our dog, Isis had been acting funny all day since yesterday when we picked her up? I thought it was because of the bath. But in retrospect, she has been throwing herself down on the ground and rubbing herself and her whole body on the ground forcefully. Maybe she was trying to still the ground? Steve said that after we left, she was still acting funny, got veyr skittish and continued to throw herself on the ground. My other dog - Chloe - just had been looking at her like she was nuts. I did mention she was bred for looks and not brains? Isis I think presensed it. Might explain her behaviour. She seems fine now but is still a bit wary but at least she's ont throwing herself on the ground anymore. She was doing that all day yesterday and today. Normally she only does it a couple of times. But in retrspect, she may have been feeling something and in her own way was trying to stop the ground from shaking? She's pretty intuitative. Now I just gotta pay attn for next time.

So I have been searching and emailing my wireless provider for information about roaming,my plan and international charges....I am really not getting any answers....so this is what I have decided...

As soon as the ship starts to pull away....my phone will be off and I will not use it and I won't turn it on until we get to Florida! It will be a true vacation!!!
