Has anyone heard from Laura? Is the ship doing better?

I talked to Laura briefly today. She was doing her birthday "candy" shopping!! :rotfl:

Nothing was said about the ship so I dont have any updates on it. Hopefully they have it straightened out and you guys will have smooth sailing back to Florida!!

Let me just say if DCL called me and said a Priest wanted my room...They'd get it and with no questions asked.
No need upsetting a man so high on the Holiness track. ;)

I'm sure the other people didn't know who was making the request.

And, as for the "holiness track," well, that's a LOT of wishful thinking! :lmao:

Okay, thanks. I'll have to go check them out. I can't stand those real thin, almost see-through, shirts.

What is everyone else wearing with their MMC shirts? Can we wear blue jeans in the dining room?

Kim

Most likely we'll be wearing jeans with ours. And yes,you can wear jeans in the dining rooms now.

LOL! I just went and looked and the last page is a bit funny as they were trying to clarify who is traveling with you. :rotfl:

Yeah . . . I saw that! :)

We priests sure do confuse people, don't we?! :rotfl2:

Just a drive by posting..

DH said we got the docs :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

On another note, John called me and he and Cheryl had to dash to be with their son as he has to have an angiogram tomorrow.Seems the cardiologist found something. So send her some pixie dust. I will be calling her after I leave work tonight.

I'm sure you went for the pirate and see I have many pages to ketchup with.:goodvibes

Prayers on the way for all.

When did you turn into a ray of sunshine??

I'm always a ray of sunshine!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

See the DIS-ease is spreading :thumbsup2

I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to do the MMC shirts. Did you get your shirts at Michaels? They are going to have the Jerzees shirts on sale starting on Sunday (7/27) for 5 for $10. If they are from Michaels, what do you think of the quality? Is the fabric thin or heavy?

Kim

:headache: Wish i would have waited.... I got them at 2/$5 last week. I like the quality. They are a 50/50 blend though so not much shrinkage. Desiree description of the fabric is pretty accurate.

I need to get more transfer paper though...DD "lifted" my pack and now has a bunch of Jonas Brothers tees...:headache:

Yeah . . . I saw that! :)

We priests sure do confuse people, don't we?! :rotfl2:

I have grown up with a slightly different perspective of priests since we always had the priests from our parrish over for dinner when I was young and grew up thinking of them more as people I guess. DH had to get used to that idea when our "family priest" agreed to perform our wedding ceremony. He stayed at my parent's home and we would stay up late talking and joking. Since I was no longer 4 and 5 years old, he did not refrain from the jokes around me. He learned that once that collar comes off there is no telling what a priest might say. :lmao:

I went there and thanked the people who gave up the room. I told them they did it for a fellow DIS'er. Hope that made them feel better! :)

That's awesome that you and some of the fellow pirates are doing the 5 night double dip cruise after the EB repo! We feel so blessed to be doing 15 nights. I can't imagine doing 20 nights (and in the same room nonetheless!). Enjoy your TOALx2!!

FE for cruise
My FE Magnets came in from Vista Print!!!!!:yay:
Just in case you were following this earlier....NO PROBLEMS with anything. Some asked for me to let them know how it goes. No copyright issues at all.
They look PERFECT!:thumbsup2
pirate: This is what they look like for FE gifts:

They are awesome, I just love them!

If you complete all the paperwork online, do you actually need any of the physical paperwork? My TA is not always that good about getting us our papers and I think they're always sent to her. I checked on the UPS site, but it doesn't recognize the reservation number.

We didn't receive ours one year and it didn't matter - they can always get you to fill out paperwork at the port anyway.

Just remember in Mexico, any drinks you order that have ice in them can have disasterous results for you later in your trip! ;)

Most places that deal with tourists in developing countries usually clearly have marked on the menu that they use purified water even for washing salad items so you should be fine but if in doubt, ask for the drink with no ice.

The WHO has done a big push throughout the developing world about sanitation and most locals in these countries also boil their water before consumption - it makes them sick too. In Cambodia last year, there were pictorial signs everywhere from World Vision promoting boiling water for drinking and washing hands.

However, water may upset you as can a change of diet, just because it is different or richer from what you are used to. To be safe, especially if you have a sensitive stomach, make sure you only consume bottled drinks.

I've been to Peru, Cambodia, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Egypt, Tonga, Ecuador, Thailand and many other developing countries and have only been sick once - it was the mayonnaise on a cheese sandwich that got me. You'd think that a cheese sandwich would be "safe"

I had to laugh at one guy on our Cambodia trip who was totally paranoid about "getting sick" - he only drank drinks without ice, but the ones he chose were made with coconut milk, he ate coconut milk curries for lunch and dinner, for breakfast he ate large quantities of fruit and porridge - he got an upset stomach very quickly - but purely due to sudden intake of fibre combined with the high fat content in the coconut milk. He though he was doing the right thing but actually if he'd just drank water and stirfry type dishes he probably would have been fine.

Evening all. See some have gotten the docs. :dance3:

Spoke to Cheryl and they just literally made the 3pm train to Michigan and they will be at the hospital very early. Seems he is allergic to the contrast and he broke out in a rash from the contrast dye so they have to give him some meds to prevent it from happening again. She is without internet and I told her I would keep her updated.

Tomorrow am off to the airport to drop off DS around 7 and then 2 medical appts and then pick up the dgks. Busy day. Nite all

I don't have a true formal either and at this rate, probably won't. I did find a nice short dress at Kohl's that will probably have to suffice. My girls will be dressed up though. They're very easy to shop for. I'm having a harder time with my boys, especially the 1 year old. We're not doing tuxes, and I can't find nice dress pants in his size anywhere!

Kim
What size does your 1yo wear? I have an outfit - white button-down, grey dress pants, cute red tie - that DS wore all of once, for his cousin's Bat Mitzvah. (MIL actually wanted to buy him a suit for the occassion. Thankfully she listened to me when I said that would be a waste.) Anyway, it's sized 18 months. If you think it will fit your DS, just let me know.

Evening Crew! Just pokin' my head in the door to say ARGH!

Sorry I haven't been around - been busy getting here, and meetin' with Caropooh, and Disfreaks. Boy, did we have a good time.

I got sick as a dog though. Well, actually, my dog's pretty gosh darn healthy - so I was sicker than a dog. We think something at the "Bite of Seattle" bit back. Landed at the Emergency Room that night, and the local urgent care clinic the next night. Morphine was my friend. Then, after two days of misery - it left as quick at it came. Go figure.:confused3 In any case it was alarming enough that DH postponed his trip home till Thursday, but went home today when it magically disappeared. (My next stop was a hospital in Bellevue if the pain reocurred.)

Looks like planning is well underway for everyone. There's no hope of catching up - so I'll just read the last 10 or so pages.

Poke at me if I've missed anything important.

Disappearing back into The Woods now....

.

I have totally lucked out on my DDs fancy outfits. DD6 seems to fit in all the same outfits DD9 and their cousin wore on the last cruise we went on. Now I'm thinking I should get her a new dress so that she doesn't grow up thinking "oh look, even for the TOAL, I had to wear hand-me-downs" All her pictures she will be wearing what they wore. Do you think she will suffer any long term affects?:guilty:

I talked to Laura briefly today. She was doing her birthday "candy" shopping!! :rotfl:

Nothing was said about the ship so I dont have any updates on it. Hopefully they have it straightened out and you guys will have smooth sailing back to Florida!!

:wave2: Guys!

Just doing a :drive: by - as texted me to say that I was very well wished. I don't have enough time as all 6 of us are sharing one plan! I know - signed up day before yesterday on the large plan and I'm down to 250! :scared1: Oh well.

Anyway, just wanted to post that the "ship has been fixed" No one is talking but I was assured that it was fixed. Golden Mickeys proceeded one day late but went off without hitch. However, tonights Rocking Bar D entertainment was delayed in Corpus Christi due to some bad weather so a few things have been juggled around but the show does go on.

As for my cruise, got a wonderful surprise. Even though things have not gone as planned, I received a wonderful surprise in my cabin today - a large bottle of Korbel champagne and a letter of apology for not having as good as usual cruise. Somehow, Christian heard about my problems and got involved - I WANT TO STATE THAT I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT PART!!! Really I didn't. Seems my tablemates have connections too. So in part I guess they are apologizing. As I mentioned, lots of new faces but I'm being assured that many familiar faces will be on the repo - GOD I hope so!

Weather was hot, hot hot and I almost got heat stroke. No candy for me - DH took the girls back and fell asleep on the bed leaving me to bake in the sun and since I refuse to pay for my own candy, I left w/o candy. :sad2: That's ok - tomorrow's another day! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Since we got booted off the Canopy tomorrow, we ended up on the Dolphin Signature Swim and will let you know how that goes tomorrow. I may just :tiptoe: out of that portion and go in search of candy. :rotfl:

Anyway, service got a bit better but I think only because I mentioned to Christain that I wholeheartedly believe that because I'm in steerage I'm getting lackluster service s/a I am not getting towels and towel animals. I'm regulated to blanket animals (1 for the whole cruise), or no salt or pepper ont he tables, one drink for the whole dinner, etc. My tablemates said that my towels are in their room - but then again - they're in a cat 5. Told you steerage comes with it own perks (or should I say lack thereof) :rotfl2: Just kidding, anyway, the karoeke is on and I have to go and embarrass my son one more time.

:rolleyes1 Did I mention they played "Footloose" in Rocking Bar D last night? :rolleyes1 popcorn:: Yeah, well, I let loose again - god help me! But it definately was worth it to see him so embarrassed!

Oh yeah, Joey lied - he lives on the ship. :lmao: He got up last night and did a rip-roaring impression of Jesse's Girl and Sweet Child O'Mine which I let loose at myself. He hasn't performed yet and its getting close to end of cruise so I wonder if he's just vacationing or what.

Anyway, I've been on a while, better go - I will scan back and thank everyone for their best wishes upon returning, right now - can't afford to waste the minutes.

Thank you everyone for your wishes, truly, they missed singing me happy birthday here, wonder what I can get for that miscue? :scratchin

Just Kidding!

 All!

BTW, not to scare anyone but Andrew came back from Mazatlan excursin - Tequila, Hauraches and saddles or something like that. Seems he couldn't get off the toilet. DH made the goof of going to Medical Center for Immodium (mom forgot ) and they don't give out immodium w/o being seen. They wanted Andrew to come down - the problem here is that it might be related to a condition he has or the food not sure but when we left for dinner, he was still on there. The other night when the engines went off - he was stranded for over an hour so it may be flaring up again. Either way, he has an appt with the Medical Center tommorrow.

Seems someone let it slip that several guests got sick last week and they are not playing around. Andrew swears he only had one shot and the food he ate was at the restaurant - El Pacifico or something like that. Will keep you all posted when I get more details, right now - the Medical Center relented when we related that he could not get off the toilet so they gave us some pepto-bismal, Immodium and 2 bottles of gaterade. As I said, will let you know what happens. Got some immodium from my tablemates and he's in the bar - so with that folks, gotta go - have some embarrassing moments to do - oh and for those interested, made an appt and had my hair and crown placed by Alex who is aware of the Princess and Tiara party we are having - he says - bring it on! :rotfl: He's ready - he made me really feel like a princess! Post pictures later. Even Andrew said - wow - you look like. Can you imagine?

Ok - Later all! :wave2:

Didn't Laura say something about it being slow loading on Sunday? She got to terminal at 2 and there were a lot of people still waiting to board?

If that is so, it would be consistent with a "port decon" where they spend extra time wiping down all the surfaces on the ship, etc. after Norwalk or similar virus

OMG! I posted before I skimmed back at all - I can't just get off this thread! :rotfl: Anyway, we were told the computers were down but the decon sounds more like it - the buffets were "served" only on the first day. Thereafter, we could serve ourselves, yet, see my post above, will let you know if any of us get sick. BTW, NO ONE AND I MEAN NO ONE TELL DH ABOUT CABO WABO! He ate there the other day! OMG! I better watch him. Maybe that's why he fell asleep today - he mentioned he wasn't feeling well. The girls and I ate at teh Giggling Marlin and even though I had a critter in my beans, I was fine. DH only had one carne asada taco. Will keep you all post on this also.

Just checked on our documents, again. They're slowly making their way here... Orlando => Louisville => Nashville => Memphis => ??? They're due to arrive (via scenic route) on Friday. I guess they make the most of the "3 Day Select" service. :rotfl2:

Checked our docs again..the reason mine didn't show is that my Mom's has 2 packages..so they are coming together..bad news is..the date changed! They are now not due in until the 28th!

They just left Florida tonight .. wierd that my Mom's originally said delivery Friday..oh well..they are on their way!
