Seriously.
Is it gonna be "cool" in August at DL?
Please say no.... I really don't want to have to try to find warmer clothing and pack it and all hat. please say no, please say no.

We have had some crazy weather in So Cal, this summer. Early heat waves, no June gloom and humidity in July. Crazy! You never know whats going to happen...our 7 day forecast for this week was 60's along the beach (where I am) but getting hot again this weekend in the 80's & 90's.

I am having such a difficult time using the Piratezone...sometimes it works...most times not. :confused3

Lastly, (I think) any banks that do change counting and exchange without rolling? We probably have between 4-5 hundred in change, but don't really have the time to roll it.

Thanks for all the help,
Carol

Our bank will no longer take rolled coins at all and now they charge a 2% fee for all loose change. Luckily my credit union does not charge for change, as we have a 50# + water bottle that we are getting ready to open up and cash out.

Hi everyone .. My turn to ask for some prayers. My sister had to take my Mom to Emerg early this morning ... Turns out she needs to have her Gall Bladder removed. They are keeping her in and hope to have it removed Wednesday or Thursday. She is on Coumadin (DVT history) and has to be weaned off it first. My younger brother has Down's Syndrome, so he will be coming up to stay with me while Mom is in the Hospital. Kirstyn is at home, so she will be able to stay with him while I am at work. I'll know more about her condition tonight when I go see her. Please keep her in your thoughts. Thanks.
Prayers & pixie dust to your mom and your family!

Any one from S. CA open to one last mini-meet before the cruise? I was thinking the 2nd or 3rd of August.

Let me know!
Hi Desiree...I have to work on the 2nd & then have my nieces bday party and we have a BBQ on the 3rd....darnit!!

Looks like they've done some last minute repairs. However, those of us who are on deck 2 may end up being pressed into service to help out....

magicrows.jpg

good thing I wasn't sipping anything when this one came up....that is SO stinkin' funny!! I would love to be stuck in Cabo for a bit longer...but not when the hurricane is supposed to get closer to them by Wednesday! Yikes!

I am so sorry. I am saying prayers for the best for her and all your family.

Hey here's a weird question that maybe someone will know.
If you book a bunch of things using a credit card with an expiration date 08/08 (and it asked for that info and you put in that info) but you just got your new card and it expires 8/11...... that won't cause any problems will it? I mean it's the same credit card number, same name on the card- just the expiration date changed.
Oh wait- the security 3 digit number on the back is different too.

When cards expire say 08/08..... does that mean at the END of august or at the beginning it expires? Should I just bring both cards? LOL

My Disney Visa exipired as well on 8/08. I have already received the new one, used it and shredded the old one. The number is the same so the expiration will not be a problem.

TODD! VERY delayed greeting but was it Noella that you wanted me to say hi to on the May WB? Well, she's on, she thinks she remembers you and said to tell you that she will be waiting on you and your 300 friends on the EBPC.

I told her I was prewarning her. She said - bring it on!

Lots to dish abut but DD Megan wants to get on before she passes out.

Pam AKA DisneySweetie I'm sure came on to tell you that we've been experiencing engine problems. Twice in one day. Its weird to be woken up and not hear anything - and I mean anything going on. I instantly flashed to the scene in The Langoliers - anyone remember that? 1/2 the lights in the hallway were gone and it was eerily quiet. Then again at about 1 pm the engines stopped. Capt came on to say we were experiencing engine troubles but I can't help but wonder why twice in such a short period of time. Ship is experiencing a lot of movement which you feel more if your at the front of the ship or back. Not anything really back unless you've been drinking - and mean mom that I am - I took Megan and her BFF to the Tequila and Margarita Tasting - it was a blast - saw Mesam (who unfortunately has been servicing the Officers bar down below  and is sparodically working in 3 hr shifts during ports days.) Noella, however, said she will be on and ready and waiting for the rowdy pirate: crew in August.

Lights were off for over an hour this morning and about 5 minutes around 1. More details as I get them when I interogate certain people. I'm on a mission. :tiptoe: to find the truth! :lmao:

Ok, Julie - thank you so much for the anniversary wishes - all truly appreciated. More later.

Off to start my blog.

By the way, I can die happy - I lived long enough to embarrass the bejivers out of Andrew. I'll dish later. But it was all worth it. That's why I didn't panic when Megan woke me up - just considered it fair game for embarrassing the big kid.

:wave2: all!

Formal night tonight - Golden Mickey show and Michael Harrision in the adult bar.

Last night was Let the Magic Begin as you all know. OK - the Magic has begun but I promise you all - I didn't break the Magic! ;) I had nothing to do with it! :rotfl2: She's just not aging as well as we are!

Bye - line waiting to use the terminals.

won my fish extender auction on ebay...

one more thing off the list!

DW finally found the Wii Fit. Has some fun on the ski jump!

I need to get busy make our Fish Extender.

Wii Fit is great - I like the step stair exercise - I do nothing but crash on the ski jump. Have you tried the tightrope yet?

OK I know I am becoming a pain, but I am filling in the avis reservation forms... says that the rental office of choice is closed for the holiday. Anyone else having this problem? What did you use as an alternative?

Thanks

I do really well on the ski jump but the tightrope drives me crazy..of course..it could be the 11 year old screaming "jump Mom!" everytime that thing comes at me :lmao:

Rental Cars are usually not reserved with a Credit Card... So there is no concept of a late cancellation penalty.

I say you book one for midnight... and if you need it, you have it.

We're sort of doing this at the other end of the trip! We have a rental car booked at MCO (Orlando airport) and if we get there way early and don't want to spend the whole day at the airport (flight isn't until 5pm) we will pickup the car and go to downtown Disney or a water park or something.

If things are slow at the port and we don't get to the airport until late (ie noon or later) then we'll not bother with the car and just wait it out. I figure we would have to be back at the airport by 3pm so we have plenty of time to get through security before our flight.

Since we are using DCL transfers to the airport, we will hopefully have minimal luggage to deal with (carryons only).

I think it is an "intermediate" sedan and there is only 3 of us, so if there is a party of 2 out there with a similar schedule who would like to share the ride, let me know!

Pamela

I've not tried the stair step exercise. I did a couple of the strenth ones... and now my shoulder hurts!

I did do the ski jump. The key to it is to quickly come out of the tuck and onto your tippy toes (you have to really "snap" out of the tuck)... otherwise you roll down the hill.

I have done the tightrope and got across on my 2nd try!

Will try some more tonight if I get home at a reasonable enough hour

I love ski jumping, hoola hooping and boxing the best.
The candle zen one makes me crazy......DH can do that one until the end...I guess he's used to tuning and zoning out all the time anyway!! Figures! LOL

At least this is an anniversary you aren't likely to forget, Laura! I had already checked your blog -- can't wait to read yet another installment -- I have you bookmarked!

Much love:love:

Yes, there's been a lot of hand washing, Lysol spraying and Clorox wiping.

Don't you love the clorox wipes!

Also, wondering how formal is formal night? Was planning on a little more shopping, but am finding that difficult...husband out with a bum knee...I can only pick up so many extra shifts between now and then, to pick up the slack. Maybe a consignment or a Nordstroms rack?

I have been hitting Macy's clearance raacks..bought 2 cocktail dresses for under $30 each! That's what I will be wearing!

Prayers said...hugs sent your way too!

It had Engine problems in the Caribbean earlier this year and was late to ports, they did fix it, but I under-sand the Dry-dock in September is a a major overhaul of them.

Someone bring some elastic bands and a donkey.

Where is McGuyver when you need him! Anyone have a paper clip and stick of gum?

Chrissie

US TOO!!! LOL! I told DH that I got us a van and he said that would cost us too much. NOT! I went through all of the Mousesavers rental listings until I found the code. :rotfl: Yes I was desperate for a deal in FL. :)

Does Avis have a shuttle from the Port? Is there a charge for drop off at MCO? I need to get this done soon as well.

For those looking for rental cars at Port Canaveral, I used this code K199060 from Mousesavers and got a great deal for our ride to MCO.

:worship: :worship: :worship: Thank you. upgraded from a full-size to an SUV for $10 more

Oh, I get it - It's like New England; you don't like the weather, wait a minute, or move 500 feet..:rotfl2:

I just tryed it and I did not get that message. It is Cape Canaveral, location code P3F. If you still having problems, maybe try clearing your cookies :confused3

Yes, to the shuttle, and no to the drop off charge. The code above is excellent for a mini van. I would book it before it sells out.

I must have missed this on the posts, YES if you are doing some, what do we pay and how? Is it for all family, if so its SUSAN ALICE and STEPHEN the kids dissboards name is AL'N'STEVE

Your card will expire the last day of August, so any transactions after that could be stopped, best to update in give your new card details.

ALSO

ALL

Contact your banks if you are using your cards on the cruise and let them knw where you plan to use it and the ports or they could be stopped on a security check.

Do this around 7 nights before your vacation.

This is a list of things to do precruise posted on the pirate boards:

  • If your kids will miss school, call the office before the first day of school and let them know you will be on vacation, so don't drop your students off the roll sheets.
  • Stop newspaper (if anyone other than me still gets one)
  • Stop mail https://holdmail.usps.com/duns/HoldMail.jsp
  • Dog/cat/rodent sitter
  • Call cell phone company for international calling
  • Call cc company to advise where you will be traveling, otherwise your card could have a hold put on it.
  • Eat up or throw out perishables.
  • Set automatic sprinklers (make sure planters are under the water stream).
  • Have someone to put out any remaining trash for pickup (think of 2 + weeks odor...)
  • Have kids school supplies, lunch money and first day clothes already laid out.
  • Pay any bills that will be due while you are gone
  • Ask for "vacation refills" on any prescriptions that will be due for refill during trip
  • Have kid's school phone numbers with you to call them out sick from Castaway Cay
  • let the school bus driver know they'll need to be picked up on their first day back for school
  • Stop Milk delivery
  • Turn off air conditioning (why cool empty house - and adjust heat south of equator)
  • Arrange for lawn care so it isn't obvious you have been gone for 3 weeks
  • Arrange for someone to water inside plants and outside plants!!!
  • Call your credit card company and let them know you will be traveling and where so your card doesn't get shutdown during the trip!
  • If you plan to use your cell phone, you may need to call and activate "international service/roaming"
  • Have your jewelry checked and cleaned.

Don't you love the clorox wipes!

I have been hitting Macy's clearance raacks..bought 2 cocktail dresses for under $30 each! That's what I will be wearing!

says to herself....I don't need anymore clothes, I don't need anymore clothes :headache: . BUT, those sales keep pulling me back

Does Avis have a shuttle from the Port? Is there a charge for drop off at MCO? I need to get this done soon as well.

Yes to a shuttle and No to a drop off fee.

Last year I had a ressie with Avis and so did Chris (grandma X3). Chris had some extra time before her flight so she offered to take us to the airport. I never even went in and told Avis I wasn't using my ressie. No penalty what so ever.

The shuttle from the port was very effecient. The porter took us over to the waiting area, got on the first Avis bus and were off.

The Avis rental office is pretty small, so there may be some wait to get your car, but really no more than any other rental.

Finally got the call I had been waiting on last week. I've got a phone interview Wednesday afternoon.
