Honestly, I never saw that it was an active tour. Hmmm.... Time to reconsider since the tour is from 10:30-2:30, peak heat hours! This is something we would usually do on our own, but I don't feel comfortable doing that at this port.

We are doing the Best of Cartagena one because even though it involves some walking it isn't as much as the Old City Walking Tour and I am concerned about the heat and the kids and we have a couple of older folks too. This one is listed a "moderate"

I am Back!!!!

Thanks for all your prayers for DS. I never said but he was in the ER the same time with my DGD(when she was admitted for Salmonella) 3 weeks ago. Since John had heart attack at 41.... my DS thought he was having one and with all the history....the doctors were worried too!!. It took 3 weeks in Michigan to schedule a Heart Scan non-invasive angiogram. His results were not good so left for Michigan by train. He had angiogram on Thursday. The great news is he takes after me and has good genes as far as heart problems. Doctors think he had a blood clot that went to his lungs that caused severe chest pains or he had a virus!!

I hope I did not miss anything too important as I think I will just not read everything I missed for 5 days.

I did get my documents which were on the porch for 4 days!! I guess it is for real now!!!

Talk with you all tomorrow. I am first going to get my Tiara!!

I am kind of disappointed that JF will not be on. I used to listen to the "boy" band music a lot
I did see him walking around WDW one time and he was inline with us at HMansion

My kids would be thrilled if they were onboard
One of them, I think Aly, was on the Disney show Phil of the Future. AJ is her sister. If you saw the movie Cow Bells they were in that
I am not saying a word to the kids though. If they really will be onboard it will just be a big suprise

That will be really cool if they are on it too. My DD6 and DS14 would like it. Wow - hear anything more keep us posted...Yah. We will see....wow all this packing...hope I don't forget anything lol.

Is anyone here staying on the ship in Cartagena because of safety concerns? We are scheduled for the city walking tour, but I was just on the Dept. of State's website and Colombia is still listed as one of the countries they don't recommend that you travel to and a new warning was issued in Feb. 2008. I want to get off the ship to add one more place to my been there list , but I'm worried. I was also puzzled by why our tour says not recommended for women who are expecting.

I have been there before and would say, do not worry, its a great place to visit and it would be a shame to not get off the ship there.

There are warnings about Colombia, but Cartagena is a tourist town, has many cruise ships calling and is geared up to look after us. Columbia itself has been a dangerous place, but they are trying to improve on that.

I felt 'safe' there before, and have no reservation in going again and getting my kids to tread on the south American continent for the first time.

In some places there are uneven surfaces, cobbled roads etc, and that might be unsafe for certain people.

I would just say, please be streetwise, there are people there who Will try to rip you off, like many places, Acapulco is no different, so take low amount of dollars and keep your valuables close to you.

I loved the old town and La popa, I didnt like the city beaches.

Nope. We're going. Just for fun look up the travel warnings for Mexico - says a lot of the same things as Colombia & most people have no problem getting off there. Colombia is a big country, you are likely never going to be very far from the ship, certainly not out of Cartagena. There are many places in most US cities that many of us wouldn't want to travel through, but the touristy areas are fine!

We have a friend at the embassy in Cartagena. He said cruise ship traffic has increased dramatically, even in the last 2 years he's been there - stick with a DCL or major excursion company (like Mr. Emerald) and you will be fine.

I would ask your TA to argue with DCL they should pick up the fees, as you booked your airfare with them when you booked the cruise (which was before the fee increase, correct?).

Regarding the onboard airline check-in.....

I just looked though our onboard check-in docs. It sez we're allowed 2 bags.
Now....it also says we have to 'register' at check-in time. I wonder if they'll try and stiff us for the extra baggage at that point (we're on American out of MCO)

As of the last time I checked (and I'll be checking again before we go), the contracts had not changed to accommodate the new charges for bags and therefore you are still allowed to check in two (without charge).

We finally got booked on the Los Veranos tour in PV at 2:00. Didn't think we were going to get in. Just trying to finalize all the plans, still trying to get a dolphin swim in Cabo. I can't believe 3 weeks from today we will all be sailing together!

Been so busy with the closing of my store I haven't even had time to read let alone post. Just ordered my pirate costume Friday night, and it is already on its way, so I should have it the end of the week. Also ordered a custom made FE off ebay, so cute, can't wait to get that. Now just have to get FE gifts and work on my door. And pack, ahhh the dreaded packing...

Gosh I feel like such a snitch! Anyway, got some bad news for some of you. It seems that our resident live-in-celebrity will not be joining our group on the crossing. Seems Disney did the demographics and the common age is tweeners.

So, they did not "ask" our resident celebrity to join us. Instead, they will be kicking him off come tomorrow. That just sounds so weird. They did announce who would be on here right? Ally & A.J. God, please don't let it be HM. NOT A RUMOR FOLKS, just a hope. However, this Ally & A.J. came from the resident's spouse.

My DD would be very excited if this was true. Although Aly & AJ have kind of fallen off the radar since Hannah Montana and HSM really took off. She would still be thrilled.

DS flying home from San Diego today. Some sort of comic anime convention?
He is going back in Oct to Anaheim I think for the World of Warcraft one.This time my DD wants to go with him as they are avid players.

Off to get ready for work.

I shouldn't ask, but do share the World of WarCRACK details in Anaheim. My DH and 2 oldest DS's have played for years. (I should make sure we have plans out of town that weekend..so he doesn't try to go...LOL)

WOW!!!!

I am finally ketchuped!~ Wow, I missed out on end of thread 10, most of thread 11, but got all caught up on this one. FINALLY!!!!

I think it was the fact that I could do whatever I wanted yesterday on my birthday, so I Dissed most of the day and sat outside on my deck with some friends drinking yummy wine. The weather was perfect and we have hundreds and hundreds of fireflies in the yard. Happy day!!!

The food was cooked for me and DH and the kids kept the house cleaned. The only bummer was that no one did the laundry...oh well, I am an expert at it anyway!

Have a great day everyone and hopefully I will be able to stay ketched up now! Especially since we are getting so close! I leave 2 weeks from tomorrow!!!

Try really hard not to have too many pages as I won't be able to get back on until late this evening as we are having Christmas in July with my in-laws this afternoon!

Oh, and I did get frustrating news yesterday, I booked a trip for all of us and my in-laws for a 10 day trip to WDW for Thanksgiving and with the airlines struggles, they CANCELLED our flights to Orlando, to rebook would be an extra $500 PER PERSON. We simply can't afford that for 9 people so we now get the excitement of trying to figure out a new vacation plan. It is kind of an exciting opportunity. Disappointing though as my in laws have never been and they were going for their first time.

Oh well, if anyone has any ideas...feel free to throw them out. We have taken them on DCL and to Mexico already. TIA!
