I'm outta here for sure. I still can't sleep, but I just saw a spider crawl somewhere under my desk:scared1: I'm leaving........:rotfl:

Well that's cool- I love pens! :)

Me too!

I love pens too. I think I'm a stationery nut! I'm never happier than when I have cool or fun office supplies.

I have a rather fabulous Winnie the Pooh pen that has feathers and lights up when you write (given to me by a work mate). I always think it gives a certain air of professionalism in meetings :rotfl:

And then I also have a rather nice double ended hi-lighter - perfect for travel so that lives in my toiletry kit.

Love the Sisters (I don't feel like dancin) and Mika (Billy Brown crax me up!) too!
Chrissie

My favourite Sister Scissors is a toss up between "Kiss you off" and "Land of a Thousand Words" - just love turning it up loud and singing along. I do feel sorry for the neighbours though.

My favourite Mika song is "Love Today" because it just makes we want to dance. I also like "Big Girl (You are Beautiful)" because its just so darn catchy!

Checkout the Sugababes if you aren't familiar with them - they are great catchy songs too. :)

I can't sleep.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day.
The investigators will finally be done (we think) with my friend's house and we're going to go in salvage what we can. From what we've heard, it's an ugly scene...but we want to remove any "icky" trace of the victim before her family goes in.
I am so not looking forward to this at all. Duh...another idiot remark. Who would be?
DD Jordan wants to go because she's thought of a career in forensics. This might be just what she needs to see to decide. I'm told the family pets are still in the house.
Oh honey.. why didn't you email me or something? I didn't think anyone was on this thread- no one is usually late at night. I was perusing the DL forum trying to find a specific thread! Took hours but I finally found it- then I come to this thread to see I missed you and you were all alone for a bit there. :( :(

And also, please forgive me for just a moment, but I want to say again that if I am not myself lately, I just wanted you to know about this....and to pray for this girl's family, and that of my friend.
I also apoligize for being out of whack....past, present and future.
No need to apologize...... ever. :)

I'm outta here for sure. I still can't sleep, but I just saw a spider crawl somewhere under my desk:scared1: I'm leaving........:rotfl:
Well that would run me off too. Especially when DH is asleep and can't be my spider hunter. I'd go to bed and leave him a note that he's to find and get that spider away from my desk before going to work! I don't do spiders..... LOL

I love pens too. I think I'm a stationery nut! I'm never happier than when I have cool or fun office supplies.

:)
I think I'm sorta that way.
I get my favorite pens and I'm like leave my pens alone- I don't like other certain ones- just my specfiic ones that write just right--- and I get annoyed when I can't find them anymore because they aren't made anymore and have to find another perfect one I like. LOL
BUT when it comes to some pens- like disney pens/etc. I'm kinda weird cause I like wanna have it- but not use it. I don't want to give it away to the kids/etc, and I don't want to USE it cause then it seems like trash at that point if the ink is used up, I just wanna keep it. LOL
One time Jeff got me this fancy smancy pen- it's still in it's case! Like I'm gonna actually WRITE WITH IT? He just shakes his head at me, cause he thinks I'm a nut. LOL

Like the FE pens.. if I use them then when they are out of ink they seem like trash or should be thrown away- so to me they'll be like souveniers to just keep. LOL I know, I'm weird. I might use it to write in my journal on the cruise or I might tuck it away to make sure i don't lose it! But either way once I get home I won't use it all up- it will be put away with other souveniers/memory box. LOL

Hi all busy day today. This was one of the few days that Cherie and I were both off together before we leave next month. First I got word that my DF was back in the hospital with rule out pneumonia and DM was not well either. They are both OK, just added to our running. We headed out and ended up at DTD having lunch at ESPN Zone. We walked around the hotels to check out the shops and a trip to Disney Store. Found some cool trinkets that will be prizes for the Treasure hunt. We also had to get a couple of Mouseketeer hats and a couple of other things. Did not get to go into the parks but the funny thing was it was not very crowed in DTD at all :confused3 I asked a few CMs and they said it has been like that this summer. Again, I don't know what it was like in the parks.

Well from DTD we headed off to my parents house which is about 10 miles from the port. We had to kill a few minutes so we swung by the DT to get a copy of the menus. I have posted them on the planning board. I talked to a couple of the waiters and again they told me that it would be no problem for 30-40 people for dinner.

Finally got home a couple of minutes ago and feel like I have been at DL all day. Dogs are barken and didn't even walk that much today.

Yeah, Roger...

.. I'm sorry to hear of your parents complications arising... and lets' continue to hope and pray for a quick and decent recovery, eh?

So, ... we were at the Parks a week or so back and I thought it did NOT feel like Summer at all in the Parks. Definately too light of a crowd was in attendance IMO. I think the high cost of airfare, travel in general and fuel is having a notable effect on tourism - and on DL attendance.

So - here I am at the Embassy Suites SLO (San Luis Obispo)... we just attended the Farmers' Market in downtown SLO (a thursday ritual up here) - then the usual drill up til now (book store, dinner and a swim) - with the kids slipping away into slumber while I finally get around to web wandering here.

We're gonna host an Ice Cream Social and Swim Party this Saturday - I'll PM ya incase you have time on Saturday between 12 and 3ish. We wrap at 4PM. I kno you're working on some weekends - and ya might have plans to visit yer parents too - especially with these adverse developements... but just in case yer available ... the welcome mat is out for all DIS neighbors on our cruise who consider Westlake Village to be within driving range this saturday. Just PM me fer directions and my tel number so I can buzz you in past security.

So... aside from all that - here are a few pix from this evening at Farmers' market - and dinner :

My DH kept telling me that he knows I cook the meat to death...and am really careful with storing and thawing, so he thought we were safe.....but I didn't realize that there were different strains and varying reactions.

Nowadays I get pretty extreme with meat preparation - the real problem if stuff is cooked propertly is contamination after the fact.

So basically as soon as the meat is put on the grill, every utensil and plate that I use before the food is cooked gets thrown into the dishwasher, packaging is tossed and the surface area cleaned, and I wash my hands, etc. If I use a spatula to turn the burgers, I'll clean them (or if BBQ hold it over the hottest part of the heat) after the first turning to make sure it's cleaned from the previous contact with raw meat.

I'm even more careful with chicken (salmonella can be just as unpleasant as E.Coli).

It does make for extra dishes and trash, but I think it makes a difference.

I know!
And my worst sometimes is my youngest- the lightest of the bunch and I'm like omg I can't figure out how she can walk so loud sometimes. LOL
slap those feet on the ground why don't you, little princess! LOL

This is so funny - my parents always said the same about me - turns out I have slightly flat feet so I stomp when I'm bare foot. I'm good with my orthotics in though - I don't sound like a herd of elephants stampeding up the hallway :rotfl:

/
I can't remember who it was now...but somebody had a child who is also having a bday while on board on August 19th. ???
My DD turns 10 on that day too and tells everybody we're going to Cabo for her bday! LOL

Sorry, haven't been around for awhile. I am trying to ketchup...impossible...

Anyway, it is me! My DD will be turning 11 on Aug. 19th! I hope we make it into Cabo... :)

stacey, please check your email when you get a chance :)

Thanks for showing the pictures. I think I'm in love with your girls and I"ve never met them! hehe But I FEEL like I know them. I'm not sure that's good or not. I might be coming up to them like I know them and they freak out and run away from the BIP lady. LOL

How old are they again? Maybe they'll get along great with my little Rita. :)

but anyway, isn't that interesting? I mean especially since this summer the cruises are going out of Ca? It's interesting- but I sure won't be complaining if the crowds are lighter than usual the ONE summer we get to go to DL instead of WDW. LOL I sure won't complain at all.
I know the high cost (of everything) has to be a factor (we're feeling the crunch bigtime too! but we're still going LOL) but you'd think that the fact DCL is going out of CA right now would boost that up a bit. I wonder how light the crowds would be if the cruises weren't going out of CA this summer! Imagine that....... maybe crowds would be even lighter? Anyway like I said- I won't complain. I'll be there for the better part of a week with just me and the kids- lighter crowds than usual sounds great to me!
(although I have a feeling that the week we go the crowd will be buffed up a bit with all the people coming early for the repo cruise- especially all us DIS'ers LOL)

Wow, my kids will like this. Hope they don't embarrass me before I even get on the ship yet! LOL But I will tell them. I guess I need to make them each an account there.
How's BIP's offspring unit #1, unit #2 and unit #3? something like that?
HAHAHA
I'm kidding

now, that's funny

Stace, that's horrible. I wish you strength.

With the airlines cracking down on over-weight luggage fees, I went out and picke dup a travel scale at Target. It's pretty small, but it weighs up to 50 pounds. If you're looking for one, they stock them near the luggage, and it cost $9.54. If it saves me from an over-weight baggage fee, it will be worth it.

..[ed]... We always end up repacking at the scale at the airport :lmao: Yep we're those annoying people :lmao:

Been there, done that...way too many times!:lmao:

That's US too.... Alicia will be hog tied and BRANDED before we pay an OVERWEIGHT baggage fee when it's just a quick shift of a few things.

Oops... sorry to the 1,000+ folks staring at us from the line to check in! :confused3

Below is an image of our luggage load after our 1st Disney cruise some 4.5-5 years ago. We only had ONE child then and Alicia was just at the end of her 2nd trimester with the 2nd child. Yes - this is one of those RARE images of her with a round tummy. At any rate - lok at all the bags she saddled me with lugging around - and yes - we probably repacked a bag at the airport check in to BALANCE the weight in avoiding overwieght charges on check in!

Why does Friday feel like Monday??
I'm not sleeping enough this week.

Our bank will not take rolled coin anymore! That just cracked me up! I am getting very excited to see how much we've saved. Our big sparkletts jug is over 50 lbs and has lots of dollars from garage sales and recycling money, in addition to lots of change (NO PENNIES!!)

What is up with banks? Before our last WDW trip I took a few $20s to the teller so I could break them into smaller bills for tips. The teller's response? "I don't have any fives." :confused3 Ummm, this is a bank, right? Ya don't have any $5 in that big ol' walk in safe behind you??? "No." I really didn't know what to do with that information.

I can't sleep.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day.

BIP ....

.... you're just TOO SWEET with your neighborly remarks. It is so completely unlike the BIP I sometimes think of that evaded MODERATOR ATTENTION when INNOCENT OL' ME got booted out of chat so throughly... while you escaped squeeky clean! < wink > Yeah.... I ..... R-E-M-E-M-B-E-R everything..... :lmao:

Seriously, you ARE SO SWEET! My girls are 4, 7 and forty something.... and I DO expect the crowds will remain lite. Even among the LOCALS here in SoCAL ... you have to consider we are going through a real estate deflation of sorts. Some families are losing their homes while many more are probably scared and close to the same condition. Lots of people fueled the upswing years with purchases - and many of those might have been financially vulnerable for one reason or another. So - the real estate value swing with generally glum mood makes for low confidance and fewer "splurges". For many folks - they rarely go to DL ... let alone cruise DCL from LA to Florida! I used to be nominally active with The Make A Wish charitable group ..... for those unfamiliar with MAW... we serve youngsters (under 18) who are certified as terminally ill ... and we seek these unfortunate kids out to enquire as to if they have any "Wishes" they were dreaming about doing someday. And since their days appear numbered - our group comes in to ENABLE that very Dream! And in the majority of cases these kids are just asking for a visit to Disneyland or WDW. Something many of us have been blessed with enjoying.

Sorry to be so .... serious. I am just in a pensive mood I guess. Alicia's girlfriend with the Cancer is sort of having a tough battle. They gamma knifed another growth in her head a week or so ago and already they're talking about needing to schedule more because they've found more growths developing. That $8000 per month medication is not helping as much as we all had hoped. Even so - the odds for it to have worked a miricale was ... slim. I feel so - bummed when I think about it - they have one young son and a world of unimaginable complication. KWIM? Add to that - there are others close to us battling for a decent survival against thier chronic illnesses. It's all enough to get one down a bit sometimes.

Anyways.... I am "UP" in that we are about to switch our booking from that bargain MSC "kids sail free" cruise next february to a January NCL Star cruise. We've got 5 cabins worth of family and friends in my group -and looking for 3 more to achieve a "group". I have a number of MY family going so it is a sort of nice thing. Plus, we got an email from a "FAVORITE COUSIN" of Alicia's tonite indicating she wants to FINALLY sail Disney with us in 2009 or 2010. So now - we have to start comparing calandars to plan it! Oh boy!!!! This particular cousin is the MOST BUBBLY and HAPPY "family" member I know of. She's LOUD - Soooo FUNNY - and so totally "Down to Earth".... we are very comfortable with "hangin'" with her! It pleases me to NO END to think that we'll share another vacation with her family! Here she is at the far right on an Alaskan cruise we took some 4-5 years ago. That's a 2.5 year old Julianna in my arms there. 2-3 weeks after this cruise we took our 1st Disney cruise on a last minute semi-discounted deal!

iCCB3B6AF-571B-474F-809C-79A8F53CE992.jpg

So I am sure our girls will get along with Rita. My kids are pretty socialable with others of varying ages. OK... I gotta go turn in now... it's 3AM here and Harry Potters' Phoenix movie just ended a while back. I was watching it for the 1st time tonite... and it had a few UNCLEAR moments in plot. I guess now I'll have to rent or borrow it from a friend so I replay those passages where I missed the dialog. DRAT!

I can't sleep.

I guess I might not have told everyone, or it may have been missed. This is a link to what happened. My friend owns the house, her son lives there and the young woman who was killed was his roommate...not girlfriend by any means...just roommate.

Stace,

This is truly soooooo mind boggling. To have something like this happen so close to you (however indirect it may be ) - may I offer through you my sympathy to all those effected most whom you come into contact with? I hope I worded that correctly... it's late fer me an' I'm about to slip away into sheep counting land....

 ... [ed]...
oh...anyone having desires..to abuse...me? , sorry that's my lil'cuite 's job,
& she pretty good..@ it...:wizard:

Lil' G....

If you'll forgive me fer making the suggestion. As I'm assuming you're the leader of your particular clan... may I suggest you exercise a little playful iniative in at least FAKING some authority - and dare I say - respect building moments? As you can see here - I have on at least ONE occassion demonstrated (see picture below) how serious "I" should be taken.... "or else" the unexpected justmight happen!!! Of course.... still.... no one pays much attention to me.

< wink >

Hmm...some good ideas there. I agree with the washing of everything that was used to prepare or carry meats to the grille. The spatula thing is interesting...I guess the "bad guys" may stick to the spatula and they are basically being introduces to my "hockey pucks" everytime I flip them...have to remember that!

I do use different utensils for each type of meat on the grille at one time...a spatula for the burgers, a fork for the chicken and a separate fork for pork chops or whatever....and no meat touches other meat types while cooking/grilling!

You should have said, do you have a yellow pages book? And then proceed to look up the nearest competitors bank...I'm sure THEY would be able to locate some 5-dollar-bills for you!" :rolleyes1

Customer service is not what it used to be...

They have a very user friendly site and their shipping is quick. :) I love their address label caricatures. The kids enjoy creating themselves for our Christmas address lables.

I missed it, what's the link?

Hi all,
I'm off to work in a few minutes. I'm trying to get everything done at work so I can relax on this TOAL. Also have to clean the house to spotless as my DMiL is coming to visit next weekend:scared:

Stace, Hang in there:hug: I'm so sorry you are going through such a rough time right now:sad2:

Lisa, good luck today:thumbsup2

Also, since I only went back a few pages and not a full ketchup, prayers for everyone that needs them today:flower3:

:cool2:
