We're helping our oldest DS pack for his first plane trip alone. He's flying from Denver to Kansas City tomorrow to visit my parents for a week. Athough it's a short flight, we still worry about his safety and his being by himself for the trip.

I had a hard time letting Adam go alone, it was to Michigan for football camp, I am guessing about 3 years ago. Hope your DS has a great week with your parents. Safe travels:goodvibes

I have to take by WDW popcorn bucket to the Credit Union. It's full of change! They have a coin sorter. Beats rolling them.

Don't I wish!! I just rolled over $230 in change from our jug.

Ours yielded $190
Andy

We collect change everyday and through it in a jar in the kitchen, but we also collect quarters from the air/vac machines at the stores. I bought us an electric counter last year and it really makes it easy. :goodvibes

That's great! We've been saving ours for almost 2 years and got quite a bit. Now we're saving all our singles - DS uses them during the school year to buy lunch but once we have enough to make it through the end of the year we start saving them also - we have over $125 in singles alone! I also save all of our recycling money.

Hi Gang,

I've had a busy day!! Just a quick Hi.

I've got to say that Esteri is AWESOME - she was so organized that we were able to get the t-s***** packed in one day. It was fun - we laughed a lot - and yes - I am a total dog lover & got lots of doggy cuddles from her beautiful furkids.

Check back tomorrow afternoon - only have morning appointments.

Belated - :bday: to Megan -- hope she had a Wonderful Day!!

Peace - Love - Happiness to all of our Pirates!!! :hippie: We have a unique community here - I hope we can all maintain the supportive & loving spirit of this thread.

Frontier Airlines changed the flight we booked on 9/1 - from Orlando - to San Francisco. Our original time was 3:05pm - only one flight per day -

SOOOO - they changed it to 8:30 am!!!!

Needless to say - I had to change airlines - and pay more for the return fligt!!
Bummer.

OMG that's way worse than just making our flight there later! I hope that doesn't happen to us. :( :(

I've posted the details on the Kids Postcard Exchange on the Pirate Zone. Its in the Kids Even thread, not the Sign Up thread.

Please check it out and let me know if you have any questions/concerns.

I like the way you have it organized Monica.

I'll try to check out our Walmart for some binder rings after my Dr Appt tomorrow. Linda and I will definitely be around to help you run it if you need a hand.

So....how does he look in it? Enquiring minds want to know!

I think I look pretty good in it. The cummerbund is not the color I thought it was, more of a pale sea green than a teal, but I have a black one and a paisley vest also. After the pants get hemmed, I will have Caro take a picture and will post it.

With the airlines cracking down on over-weight luggage fees, I went out and picke dup a travel scale at Target. It's pretty small, but it weighs up to 50 pounds. If you're looking for one, they stock them near the luggage, and it cost $9.54. If it saves me from an over-weight baggage fee, it will be worth it.

LOL...that is so funny and I'm sure exactly what Desiree was doing earlier today! Glad it all worked out in the end!

I know we have a kids thread here on DIS, but since some of us have been unsuccessful at getting our kids IDs or others didn't want their kids posting on such a public forum, we now have an area on the Pirate Zone for the kids. (((THANKS TOM)))

I have started a thread for the under 10 and another for the 11 and over crowds. That doesn't mean that someone in one group can't post on the other thread. I just thought it might be easier for the younger set to keep up with others closer to their age. I started the thread asking a few questions and figure the kids can take it from there.

Thank you for doing this! My DD is excited to chat with other's her age. Do I need to make her, her own dis ID or email address? She does not have anything like that yet.

Our bank will not take rolled coin anymore! That just cracked me up! I am getting very excited to see how much we've saved. Our big sparkletts jug is over 50 lbs and has lots of dollars from garage sales and recycling money, in addition to lots of change (NO PENNIES!!)

quick question about onboard charges....
Is it possible to put a set amount of money on DD9's key? Her bday is while we are on the ship so I thought we'd give her money to spend onboard for stuff she wants (with a limit)

If for some reason she did not spend the amount given (highly unlikely) would we be able to get a credit and/or disney dollars for her to take to WDW after the cruise?

Thanks for your thoughts

I'm a bit behind and a bit lost- what's the deal with staying in the "mickey penthouse"?

We purchased some DVC points and one of our perks was to stay at what is called the Mickey Penthouse at the DLH...they do not rent it out..it is given away during the year of a million dreams etc...so we have our night there this Sat. Had some issues confirming it and now are all set!

Hmm... 5/21 - that's what, 7 or 8 weeks ago? I've accidently left ground beef in the fridge that long in the past.... I dare say, what was growing on there when I found it was probably a lot more toxic than mere E.coli. Very colorful though... green, purple.... :rolleyes1

I checked the stuff in the freezer... that's from April  The stuff from that time frame we have eaten :scared1:

Sounds like a science experiement...or the colors of your tags!

Seriously though, E.coli is just scary and this is yet another reminder that we should cook our burgers to well done (gross but healthier in the long run).

Good thing we eat our burgers mostly well done (definately NO blood!)

Good thing. I know Krogers here recalled a bunch of the gb here because of the same reason.

I sure wouldn't have kept a container. But some of the things that we get credit for on returns, we just have to save the wrapper. Some food just gets nasty and I am sure the folks that sort it are really happy when it's just the wrapper.

I just can't believe they're just now telling me...

I sure hope that Southwest doesn't jump on the rearranging-flights-bandwagon or the nickel-and-dime-everyone bandwagon... That's who we're flying for this trip and for our WDW trip later this year.

Wow I don't think I want to pack something extra... We always end up repacking at the scale at the airport :lmao: Yep we're those annoying people :lmao:

You would have had to jump ship.

Thanks. I need to get a passport holder there also. It's on my list.

We got DH measured for the tux. check that one off.

great... Just got home from the store... The receipt had a recall notice for ground beef.,.. Apparently they're recalling all varieties, weights and sizes sold between 5-21-08 and 7-3-08. They may contain E.coli... Return product or empty container for a full refund. Who keeps the empty container??

We've been making a lot of burgers too.... Guess we're lucky we didn't get sick!

:scared: AACCKK!! I'm sureglad that y'all didn't get sick!

David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar-Van Halen? I am thinking Sammy?

I like em both... but for this cruise its all Sammy... Cabo Wabo and Panama!

Now I need to catch some zzzzz's

Being real tired (and being a guy) I dont always "get" the subtle issues going on the boards. My 2cents... I am going on the TOAL to have a TOAL... I am on the DIS 'cause I think it's great to meet so many fine people and share our grand plans and excitement. I hope the latest drama is put to bed. And may it sleep as soundly as I plan to right now..

You will need to create an ID on the Pirate Zone, or you could have her post under your ID. It will ask for an email when you sign her up, but I think you could just put your own email.
