I did some clothes shopping today for myself and the kids in our 'sales' and DD has her Ballroom dress now. I am worried boys are going to think she is older than she is.

A friend of mine turned me on to a store called Daffy's in our area a few weeks ago. So I did a lot of shopping there. I got 2 bathing suits for only $20 each, new shorts, tops and dresses. The most I paid for a dress was $30. It was awesome. I probably need another trip there before we go, and the girls want to come, but I am afraid to take them. They could wipe me out even though it is cheap.

'SALES' are full on now, we have a store with good clothes called 'NEXT' they started theres at 5AM today, I didnt go then, and arrived at 8am, now normally the best stuff has gone by then, but there was a lot left, and not so many shoppers, so the Economy is realy starting to bite back.

Now it is also the weekend of schools stopping for the Summer and lots of people are going away, but our car parks were not full today on a busy Saturday, so thats a worry.

Been busy at my shop all day today - the second to last Saturday before I close, and with 40% off everything, they are coming out of the woodwork.

DD's flight got in around 12:30 last night, almost 2 hours delayed, and by the time I got her home it was around 2:00 A.M. Thank God she is home safe and sound, I was tracking that flight all night.

Another hot one here in NYC, leaving work at 3, and would like to get in the pool for a little bit this afternoon. DH and I are going to look at a new car tonight, my lease is up at the end of August, and with the kids both driving now and gas prices, I don't need a big car. I am looking at the Toyota Solara Convertible. Anyone have one? I would really like the Mercedes convertible, but doesn't look like that is anywhere in my immediate future....maybe someday.

Debi

I am so excited, :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: But I'm with Mike, now that it is almost here, I feel like I have so much to do and not enough time to do it in.

Debi

Me too!! I felt a bit panicky yesterday. This is our first cruise not driving to the port so there are some things that we have never had to deal with before like a rental car and ME. :scared:

Here in the states there is a lot of that going on - but nobody will say we are actually in a recession...give me a break. I don't know too many people out there right now who aren't struggling to make ends meet. That is why I am closing my store, hobbies take a backseat when you are having a hard enough time putting food on your table and gas in your car.

This is also why I consider myself exremely lucky to even be able to go on this TOAL. I actually think the sacrifices we have made to do this trip will make it that much more enjoyable.

I have read many posts all saying the same Christiaan is our man for this cruise, and everyone raves about him.

I must say I am happy about that as I ( and I get flamed for this on the main boards, ''I didn't like Brent'' I found him a bit managerial, not so funny and his announcements I couldn't understand, it was as if he was talking to someone else whilst on the Mic. I say like a manger, as a few times I saw him walk the ship and report things that were wrong on his radio, but he didnt do the small talk with us.

Rachel was our CD for the last PC crossing in 2005, she was great. Always asked how your day was, and was everywhere at every show, at the entrance for the Shows for example as you went in the WDT.

No flames here. Everyone has a different experience. We did have some one on one experiences with Brent and that is why we liked him. When Rachel was CD on our 12/05 cruise DS was chosen by Pikey to push the button to start the music at the sail away party and someone took our room number to have a special treat delivered to him. When we hadn't gotten it by the third night I mentioned it to Rachel and she noted the info. I thanked her the next day and that DS had been looking for his treat from Mickey since day 1. That is when she introduced her assistant Brent to us and said that he had taken care of it for her. He was the CD on our 12/06 cruise and remembered DS, always stopping to say hello and ask him about his day, which of course made DS8 feel great with the attention. The only CD who has gotten on our nerve was the first, Jaque I think it was in 11/03.

Well , yes, in her ballroom dress she did look like she has grown up a few years more rather quickly, I nice young lady, but as her 'DAD' I am very pleased for her, but not any boy who thinks shes older.

I'm sure daddy won't be letting her out of his sight. ;) I know that I am amazed at some of the dresses that are in the stores in the "little girl's" department. DD liked a couple of them when we were shopping last week but I refuse to buy a 7 yo a formal type dress with spaghetti straps. She doesn't need to grow up that fast. :(

Ooops...I meant mile! :) Guess I'm not quite awake yet. It was a late night last night. :)

LOL! Sad thing is my ILs would have understood you. They live out in the sticks and actually include "down yonder" in their directions.

USA/UK are very much linked at this time, I often think we would have been better as the 51st State of the USA than part of Europe, however at this time Europe is less effected by this, but we are runing paraell to you exactly, bar our exchange rate.

The R word, 'recession' technically we are not in one as GDP is growing, but at a slow rate, but inflation is high, government says 3.8% but food and Fuel is far higher, its clothes and Electronics that are falling giving it an average at a lower figure. But shops do not have customers in them.

That is very good I know Rachel is thoughful, she has ordered gifts for cruisers and checked up on things, With Brent it might be the type of cruise we were on, In the Med we had 11 nights and 7 long ports of all to places like Rome, So the ship was a base and home, not the vacation. Hence see Brent less.

The panama cruise with so many sea days the Ship is more of the vacation and so you should see the CD, more. But I did bump into Brent a few times but he didnt chat the same as Rachel, or Andy.

My young lady is at 'that' age, 12>13, where a lot changes, and she becomes a lady. That 'dress' brings it all home to me.

I actually think a Cat 4 will be too small for us now, I am glad I have booked a Cat 3 for 2009. So she can have more space to herself, maybe connecting rooms next time.

If I lived nearby I would be there too! :) I hope that you have a nice last week. :grouphug:

Our Med cruise last year was the first time we'd cruised and not had Jacquie as our cruise director. Oddly enough she always seemed to be CD on the ship we were on (Wonder or Magic). I was impressed that she remembered us, even though it was 1 or 2 years between cruises.
That said, we really aren't in the habit of chatting much with cruise directors. Always seems to be other things to do....

I feel all better now. I have the Magic's whistle as the ringtone on my iPhone :cool1:

Hey Andy,

If you don't mind, can you share where you got it (or if you created it, share it)? My iPhone is on order and would love to have that as my ringtone!

Andy my good buddy, how in the world do you come up with these neat things - first the GPS photo thingie ( I know so official huh?), now this? I tried some months back to download it but it was a no go - pray - please tell - or better yet......DIS about it please? Pretty Please? Your driving us nuts.

BTW, for everyone else, look what I came across - the top 12 hotels to have an affair at - and look what made it on the list????? :scratchin :rolleyes1

The world's 12 best hotels for an affair

Hotel Sezz, Paris

Rock Water Secret Cove Resort, British Columbia
Las Passion, Cartagena (Colombia)
Lafayette House, New York City
Guana Island, British Virgin Islands
The Witchery, Edinburgh
The Bungalows at Chateau Marmont, L.A.
Su Gologone, Costa Smeralda (Sardinia)
Anger's Boutique Resort, Miami Beach
Soniat House, New Orleans
Angsana Riad Tiwoline, Marrakesh
Ivy Hotel, San Diego (featuring king-size bunk beds!)

Just thought some of us might find it interesting! ;)

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I was looking for something from our 2005 EB repo cruise and came across this:

PortofLosAngeles.jpg

PortofLosAngeles2.jpg

We were handed these cards as we entered the port. Thought someone might be interested in how the terminal was layed out and what the check-in process was in 2005.

There is always great debate on the main boards about whether or not one person can check-in for your party. In three previous cruises, DH has always been returning a rental car while I checked us all in. In 2005 they asked that only one person go to the check-in counter. It should be even easier this year since passports are required.

I am going to get them announce us as two families

The ''Cheaper ''

and

Carnivals.

'Welcome to the Disney Magic, Carnivals cheaper, from Port Canaveral.''

Very funny:rotfl2: Double dare ya

Anyone else thinking that we could get Todd's temp tattoo company to make a bunch of the Fr. Mike for Pres back tattoos and have his congregation sport them when the Bishop is visiting? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Loved the vid Mike, sent it on to a bunch of friends

Hi all! DH and I are on this cruise. It's crunch time. I still need another bikini and pair of evening shoes. The bikini part scares me. :scared1:

And I'd like to give a shout out to Caropooh. ;)

Sorry June!

My DD (14) tries to look & act cool & she frowns on anything that smacks of teeny bopper, i.e. Disney, HSM, Jonas Bros. etc. However, she is very much a home body. She loves to read & spends quite a bit of her time on her lap top designing clothes on Star Dolls. She is very mature for her age & is the first to yell at my DS (11) if he even attempts to do something wrong. She babysits a lot, because our neighbors know how mature & well behaved she is. I'm hoping she finds some young teens she can hang with & relate to. :confused3

I must be tired. I read this as laptop dancing

I feel all better now. I have the Magic's whistle as the ringtone on my iPhone :cool1:

All right- give it up. I have the original IPhone and I know there is some complicated way to do this. How did you?

Here in the states there is a lot of that going on - but nobody will say we are actually in a recession...give me a break. I don't know too many people out there right now who aren't struggling to make ends meet. You know I am going to say it again. Depends on where you live. Down here in Texas you would definitely not use the word recession- slight boom more like it.
