OK so I talked to DCL this morning... Then the TA emailed and said there was an upgrade available from a 12 to 11 (for a price, of course) so we took it and got it all situated with the TA.... Only to get an email from the TA a few minutes ago saying that apparently DCL got their wires crossed and there was never a room....

There was one available earlier but someone either held it or booked it
If held it can only be for 24 hours. Ask your TA to keep checking

OK. I have a dumb cruise-related question.

I read a suggestion to cut down on dryer time for your laundry, Hang it on the verandah.

Never had a verandah before.

Should I bring something in order to hang the laundry???

Is there anything out there to attach something magnetic to? (I think that I have a magnet-operated clotheline for the camper)

I would like to thank all of the people offering their verandas for all of us porch less folks on deck 1 and 2 and inside cabins. I do have a counter proposal to offer though. If any of you would like to get a once in a lifetime shot of the actual walls of the locks maybe you could stop by and take a picture out of our window. I mean everyone can get a picture from deck 10 but only us lucky lower deck s get a view of the actual lock walls.

Count us in. Last time one of the cruisers posted a video of the walls going thru. It was neat.

Cherie has finished Mr. Cotton's outfit Just need to do some distressing and add some dirt.

Todd we are in the process of attaching the parrot to my shoulder. We are very close to coming up with a solution short of training a live parrot in the next month.

Did you have a place for belt buckles?

Todd do you use anything else besides tea to stain clothes? The pants are polyester (not very ie I know) and tea is not staining them.

I wonder if cold water dyes might work. I can't remember if I ever used them for anything but cotton. I found them better than the rit when I used to do the tye dyed shirts. Esteri may know but she is out in the woods.

Last cruise, I got a letter from DCL placed in my cabin after hanging things on the verandah (I used clothes pins to the chairs) and was asked to use the retracting line in the shower.

Our stateroom host did ask us not to hang the suit from the railing on the verandah, but I thought maybe it was ok if you had something more secure
Guess not if they sent you a letter and you were using clothes pins

Even worse, we're Red Sox fans here, but I like anybody who is a big fan & supports their team! Even if it is our biggest rivals!

We always bring clothespins and clip things to the backs of the chairs. I guess I've been lucky not to get "the note"! I find things take FOREVER to dry in the shower - a couple of hours on the sunny verandah and we're good to go! BTW, I do try to be reasonable - no "underwear for 6" flapping in the breeze - just bathing suits! I suspect the neighbor's verandah would not even see them...

I guess it can be a matter of timing. If you put your suit out after the morning cleaning, but bring it in before they turn down, you may not have a problem




Regarding the Red Sox/Yankees debate. Here in Connecticut it's serious business even if you're not keeping up with your team (like me).

To all the Red Sox fans - we will pray for your conversion.

Not sure if Todd already answered you, but what about some acrylic craft paint? You could "dry brush" them all over to add the look of dirt/grime.

I would just google pirate belt buckles or renaissance ...

Try using brown and black shoe polish diluted with water and rub it on that way ....youll have t experiment , the nice thing about weathering is you really cant mess something up ...

Okay.....disregard my suggestion. This would probably work better.

Has anyone filled out the online check in forms yet?
When I try to fill mine out it cuts everything I write in half so you can't see the top of the letters / numbers.

In the past I haven't had that problem so I am not sure if it is the form or my computer

Does anyone have any insight on this?

I filled mine out. half at home on the mac, half at work on the PC. No issues. Although I wouldn't discount a dcl site problem. After all, it is hassle free.

Don't worry about a briefing. DH is the ref & has produced a handy "idiots guide to touch rugby" which will be distributed early in the cruise to allow for bedtime reading. Hoping that the list of participants can be updated with cabin # so we know where to deliver to. There is also a prize for man of the match & woman of the match

Acapulco Walking Tour to Fort​

I have posted a topic on the Pirate Zone Form. Pdarrah and Micmse familes will be walking to the fort in Acapulco, If anyone is interested please leave message on board. We will be leave at 8:45 from the ship but where is still TBD. Hope we will have lots of DISers going with for a nice little walk.

Are some people just walking to some fort and not watching the divers? Or is this referring to going to see the divers on their own? What fort? I'm confused.

Just left Michaels and they have the magnetic picture frames (pouches) in about six or eight different sizes, up to 8x11 all $1.99 each.

If DH ever comes home... (called earlier to say he's working late) I'm heading to some stores in our town, namely Staples, to see what I can find. I found some in various sizes (the pouches) at Walgreens for $1.59 to 1.99 but I think staples has some stuff I need like magnetic tape and laminating stuff.

The handy bench is a good place to sit and you can put stuff under it. Only non-connecting rooms have this.

Oh, so THAT'S why I've never seen this handy bench- our rooms were connecting rooms last time. LOL That might really come in handy!

Suddenly, I feel like it will not get done. My husband had knee surgery this week (unexpectedly), and now I am trying to keep the house mellow, and get stuff done, while he lays on the couch. Turning me bitter.

But, I know it will all get done....even if I miss some things. As long as we have the basics, it will be fun regardless.

Kids take everything literally. My dd still does and she's 10. The other day she told me someone was teasing her about her name. I said that they were just trying to get her goat.

This was her answer," Mom, I don't have a goat. I wouldn't even know where to find a goat and there aren't any farms nearby. And why would she want my goat if I had one?" I thought I was going to drive into the curb. She had me laughing so hard!

Tina, that should have come with a warning! Luckily I had just swallowed my Mt Dew! LOL!

No, you are deck 7 forward portside. That is our favorite location and this is the first cruise that we are in that area. If Don is your stateroom host [as he is usually stationed there] you will be spoiled...and you will see my kids around because they have to go see him every cruise. Great location. The door at the end of the hallway leads to the bridge & officer's quarters.

So we got a little turned around looking at the deck map last night! Posted and then figured it out. Ooops! Thanks for the reviews though. I'm happy to hear this is a good spot.

I didn't get the newsletter. Can someone forward me a copy? I always get them, even the kids newletter and we don't have any kids with us. I even looked in my junk mail folder. There is a chance I deleted it by mistake...I am getting so much junk mail the filter doesn't catch that I delete it right away. Is it on the piratezone?

WOW is it really just 1 month form now? I can't believe it. I sure wish I would get my flight schedule. It is driving me nuts not knowing.

DickBlick.com has magnetic paper for $6.99, but the shipping is almost $10, so unless you plan on getting quite a bit it might not be worth it. I order a lot so it worked out OK for me. The order can quickly. You can also try WalMart, Staples, etc.

I had to laugh when I saw this.... under my avatar has what my DD said to me when she was about 5. She was very into Princesses but had it all figured out that the one in charge was the Queen...she was was so serious when she told me how she wanted to be the Queen. I was also driving and almost had to pull over I was laughing so hard!
