I know this is probably a silly post....but it occured to me as I was reading a news story this morning.

If you are renting a car here in CA for your visit...we just had a law passed that you can not use your cell phone (not even to pick it up to dial and then use an ear piece) while driving. You need to pull over.

The only reason I bring this up is it is a really new law (just went into effect on July 1st) and if you had been here before and used your phone..you wouldn't necessarily know.

They are giving out tickets like crazy here...the CHP gave out over 2500 the first two weeks. Wouldn't want anyone to start their vacation off with a ticket

Anyways...just an FYI.

Thanks for the heads up :thumbsup2

I wish they'd do that here in Oklahoma!

Oh, Like having people shoot at you, or the joy of spending Christmas Morning at some macabre crime scene instead of at home with thier family, or every cop's favorite, telling a parent thier child was killed in a car accident. Yeah those cops got it made.

My DD's boyfriend is a cop and after all we've been through in the last week, I told him that I NEVER want to be either a cop or a firefighter. He just graduated from the academy and was bummed that my DD and I had seen a crime scene before he has. I told him I would have traded that "honor" with him any day.

Hi Pete! Pete and I were just chatting about you last night - remembering our meet last year.

I haven't started packing - yet - but I've got tons and tons of lists made up!

I have clothes laid out in just about every room!

Not a silly post at all. The news in Orange County reported that the highway patrol gave out 1000s of tickets on July 1st (day 1) in OC alone! I have seen people being pulled over a couple of times on city streets as well. They mean business. This only applies to the driver, so someone else in the car can be on a cell phone.

Gene Wilder always creeped me out as Willy Wonka, but Johnny Depp just cracked me up. I think I could relate to his sense of humor.

Just the opposite for me. I Have been a Gene Wilder Fan every since I first saw WW. The next movie I saw him in was Bonnie & Clyde. Played a totally different character.

Love Johnny Depp, just not how he played WW. Couldn't get past the teeth - they just creeped me out :rotfl:

Hey...

For all of you creative folks out there, could anyone list some links or programs that they used to make their door sign? I am so challenged in this department, it is unreal.

Any help is appreciated :worship: :worship:

Thanks,
Carol

I had all of mine done right here on the DIS boards...for free! Just had to run them off on my printer, have them laminated and added magnet tape to the backs.

You can find tons of ideas here and most of the DISigners will personalize them for you.

I'm getting the message now that they're having a problem with their reservation system that will prevent me from looking at my resevation. When I checked about 45 minute ago I was able to look at it and it still showed GTY. I hope this means they're working on it now!!! :)

That's what mine said and then a few minutes later when I checked I had the assignment!

LOVE that location. I was in 2056 for the Med repo and it was great!

Thanks Monica! DH was worried about too much noise or traffice but the room reports I read said that it wasn't too bad.

I really think DS is going to like it - OC practically right outside his door.

With our departure just one month away, I must admit my patience for being in GTY status is beginning to wear....

I keep having visions of being stuck in the lifeboats....

[Yeah, those cops have it made[/COLOR]

My DBIL is a cop. So is my DSB.

Both have been injured several times in the line of duty.

Actually both were hit by drunk drivers also while responding to a call. Drunks never saw the flashing lights or heard sirens.... DUH

DSB's squad car was rolled into a cemetary. He came really close to dying in that one.

My Dbil was out of duty for over a year for his accident. First had an operation for broken leg. Once that healed they gave him a second operation for his shoulder. Same DBIL has a permanant scar from injury on duty.

Yeah they have it made alright. :sad2:

UE??? what's that?
