Hey, Laurie -- I meant to tell you -- I took my DD13 to DC last Thursday for the day and had a great time, but I don't think there would have been any time to get together even if I had told you (we decided to go that day at the last minute). Maybe at Union Station around 7 or so for a drink, but you probably needed to be home with your crew at that point! It was an amazingly easy day trip -- we took a train out of Penn Station at 6 AM, were walking by the Capitol by 9:45, did the Air and Space museum, saw everything around the Mall, all the way up to the Lincoln monument, White house, and Vietnam memorial, and spent about 2 hours at the zoo (love the pandas!) all before making it back to have dinner at Johnny Rocket's at Union Station before catching a train back. We were home by midnight.

I am sorry that we didn't see you, but we will be seeing you in a few weeks!

Very cool trip:cool1:
Did you sleep on the train home after all that walking ?
We love the pandas too. Did you see the red panda ? Not sure if that is still there.
You're right I would have been hard pressed to meet up with you though. They are giving us deadlines at work that mean I'll most likely be working some weekends between now and August:sad2:
Sooooo looking forward to seeing you in August:thumbsup2

Silly pirate. Maraschino cherries aren't decorations. They're appetizers.
I LOVE maraschino cherries.
My favorite too:thumbsup2
Told a waitress one time that I was glad my drink came with one and she came back with a whiskey glass full of maraschino cherries:woohoo:
I tipped her as much as I could (which unfortunately wasn't much since I was way poor at the time:rolleyes: )

Since we don't know for sure what Lumiere's hours will be on the PJ Breakfast day, I suggest that we meet in the atrium at 9:00 AM, and can then head into the restaurant together. That way we're covered for either the breakfast or the brunch seating times.

What do y'all think?

What do I think??? I think that sounds like the Adventurer's Club.....  Meet in one place, move to the next. <sigh> Sorry... I'm still in shock. :headache:

Seriously - sounds like a good plan and I've added it to my itinerary.

No catchin' up for me today. Hope everyone survived their Monday!

Jennifer

The red panda was definitely there! It's so big and shaggy -- really cute. The Chinese pandas were really active when we were there that afternoon -- the little one was nosing around a ball, and his parent was eating bamboo with great relish. We also enjoyed the great ape house a lot, although I have to say that after interacting with a few of the orangutans (my daughter would do something and she/she would imitate her) it started seeming a lot like visiting friends in jail! (No, not that I've ever done that with human friends.) The small mammal house was surprisingly fun -- who knew how many different cute little shrew/porcupine/meerkat/naked mole rat things there were out there? Reptiles were interesting, the elephants just seemed hot (and I could relate -- it was muggy at that point.)

No, I didn't sleep on the train home -- I'm a big walker and can take it. It was hard to get up the next morning and go to work, though, after so little sleep! I had several calls from work on my cell while gone and knew that I couldn't put off getting in early the next day.

It was just too rushed a day on our part, on a work day, to expect a meet up with you to work, but I can't wait to see you again in August! I'm sure you won't believe how big my girls are now -- the oldest two are taller than I am.

Is this better?

Pretty colors?

DUDE! I was on that cruise! Whoa.... I remember we were chillin' and sailin. And all the colors were... so ... whoa... you know? And when we sailed through green and some people felt green? And when it was blue we felt blue? And we we sailed through red... we couldn't figure out what it was but maybe it was taking 15 of those sea sick pill out by sick bay on deck one. You know. And do you remember when we hit that white line, and we thought. let's get some. But we'd already left Columbia. And whoa... just remember those colors.. :hippie:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hey they scrambled the icons again! At least the pirate is on the first page again!

It sounds like you have been quite busy!!!! Are you transferring to somewhere close to where you are now?
About an hour out. I'm spoiled my commute has never been more than 10 minutes.

I could never quite remember my Pat O'Brien evenings :lmao:

Andy

You & me both. I know I came out of there once with a hurricane glass and was almost hit by a car a few blocks over. My biggest concern was that if the car had hit me, it would have broken my glass!
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Kill the beast!

:rotfl2: I missed that post trying to get the pirate:

I know there is an address posted on the piratezone to ship directly to the warehouse. Then I heard that last repo some people didn't get their stuff :confused3, so I am having mine shipped to my pre cruise hotel. Then I'm going to use the empty box to ship any souvenirs and time-share supplies back home b-4 the cruise. That was my cruise to-do task I got out of the way this AM. Find the closest UPS store in Anaheim. One more thing crossed off the least.:thumbsup2

Has anyone heard any feedback from the MR Cruisers if pkg's are making it OK to the ship OK????

Thanks Mary Ann, I didn't even think about shipping to Hotel. We will be driving back home so I am not so worried about bringing stuff home, just getting it to LA.

I get an occasional bad migraine where I lose my vision, so I definitely feel for you. I would rather just get sick and have it over than suffer with a bad headache for so long.

I can relate Mike :thumbsup2 Did you know that a migraine can cause a stroke? I know because I had one 2 years ago. I am now on asprin therepy.

I don't know about a Super Shuttle type rental from the DT to the port...you may not be able to do that.
But the DT has two shuttle vans that are just like the ones SS uses. They were running pretty smoothly and on time the morning we got onboard.
There were 3 ships in port that the hotel had to take people to, and even with all those people, our shuttle left a little ahead of schedule. I didn't find it to be a problem at all.

But....since we are driving in, and not getting to the hotel very early (my guess is 2 pm) we won't be anywhere near first on their sign-up sheet. So the Moms and I might call a couple of cabs to take us to port.

Thanks for the info Stace. Didn't you stay at DT when you wen't on your cruise a couple weeks ago? Is it easy to get a cab? Do you know how much?

This is a commercial shuttle (Primtime shuttles) not the Hotel shuttle.

Andy

Thanks Andy, Could you PM me the info on shuttle? Do you know if we would be charged whole price for 2?

I don't even try! These pirates are way too sly! I just like to sit back and watch.:surfweb: :rotfl2:

Don't feel bad. I feel the same way.:surfweb:

LOL...this is great!!

I used the patch on our first cruise in the 80's (yikes...dating myself!) I had dry mouth the entire time, but it was not a huge problem. Never felt sick at all. I didn't use one for our 05 Mex Riviera cruise and was fine. Took bonine one night when I wasn't sure if my head was starting to feel funny or not and didn't want to chance it. I think I am going to get the patches and bring them, just in case.

I have used the patch many times with no problems. My problem with this cruise is I don't have a Dr. here yet and you need a prescription for them.

Was the sun still visible?

Andy

:rotfl2: Yep it was and that was the problem.:rotfl2:

I have an 8 yo DD as well. she is very shy and so far professes she will not be going to the kids club. We'll see.

She can hang out with my DD who also says she will not go to the club. In fact, when the week came that we were supposed to be on the December cruise she saw the calendar and then told me that she was glad that we weren't on the ship right then because she didn't want to go in the club.
:scared1:  :scared1:  :scared1:  :scared1:  :scared1:  :scared1:

I'm
We have an 18mo DD! I don't think we're going to make the late night activities! We'll have to see how it goes though.

:headache: :scared: Oh how well I remember those days...that went on twice as long since the kids are just 21 months apart. Neither of them slept through the night until 18 months when we took them out of the crib and put them on a matress and boxspring right on the floor. I was up for a party every night.

The patch made both Linda's and my vision go blurry. I have some other stuff going on right now, and probably won't be able to use the patch during our cruise, which is why I'll be giving the ginger capsules a try.

I've used the patch several times and have had the same problem, as well as dry eyes. I've been under doc. care for over 9 months for eye problems. Eyes are just returning to normal. Dry eyes and blurred vision will only add to the problems. I'll be trying Sea bands, ginger pills, over the counter meds. Still going to bring the patch for back up.

Just quickly popping in to say ... guess what today is?

Today is 1st July! Which means we can now say "next month when we are on the EB repo". Exciting stuff huh? :rotfl:

Also just a quick weather check, biking to work this morning it was -4C/25F and yes there was ice on the road so I was biking very, very slowly.

I'm so looking forward to warm weather!

Hmmm - I have 2 hours until TOAL is next month.

Ya know you can get studded tires for your bike. I was race director for a December triathlon in Alaska - studded bike tires were highly recommended!

I've been watching the Olympic trials for swimming. My brother and I both used to swim and coach (he actually still does)....and they are doing the trials from our home town of Omaha. My brother is timing at the meet. A big thrill for former swimmers.

That's really cool Stace! I love swimming...Ok I love men's swimming...OK I love men's butterfly...:rolleyes1 DH was a HS/college swimmer, what can I say? I have a type.

Question...since we have not actually had a successful trip to Castaway Cay...to mail postcards from there..do we use US stamps or do we have to purchase stamps there? DD wants to mail some postcards to friends back home and I want to make sure I have what we need..

Thanks!

Remember, we'll be in CC on a Sunday. Post office will be closed. I think I read somewhere on the main boards that you can leave your postcards with guest services and the folks who live on CC will send them on Monday.

BTW - out postcards took about 8 weeks to reach CT when we mailed them from our first cruise.

Hmmm...so I'm reading all this thinking we could do the reverse & head to NYC for the day! I'm glad you had fun.

We'll be spending the bulk of our time in WA. We have family property in Cle Elum - just over the pass and through the woods from you. If you feel a sudden urge to come clear brush, cut down trees, and engage in other forestry activities, let me know. Of course, we generally knock off in the afternoons.

Heck, we could have a forest clearing, wood burning hot tub soakin', Mt Stewart gazin', BBQin' mini-meet. Loads of space to camp if that's your thing. And we've got satellite internet in case you get withdrawl. :rotfl2:

Oh good! No excuses for abandoning us.

My hearing's not what it should be either - still haven't recovered all my hearing from perforating my ear drum diving a few weeks ago. Of course, I already had loss in the middle ranges - so now it a real problem. DH is getting really tired of having to repeat everything. I feel a hearing aid coming on in my future. :sad2:

Sounds way less expensive (and painful) than the fake hips I'm due for in the next 10 years.

Oh! You'll be making the rounds during dinner? We're not Catholic, but very ecumenicical - does it still work? Are you in Captains or Crews Dining? :rotfl:

Well, 3 of the 8 people at your table are Catholic, so that should be good for something.

Will the Print Shoppe be includin' said deck plans with hammock assignments?

If Ye Olde Print Shoppe gets a version before August 1 that might be a possibility.

HATE 'em. You can have all mine!

Yeah, you must have read the tablemate agreement very closely. That's part of the deal. DH hasn't had a cherry in 20+ years. I used to steal them from his sundae in front of his girlfriend & my boyfriend. :) I'm not sure DSs even know what they taste like. All cherries are mine.

ONE MORE DAY TILL SABBATICAL!!!!!!

I think I can. I think I can. I think I can...

.

Oh Look! It's the Little Executive Who Could.

My favorite too:thumbsup2
