They will sign whatever you drop off. There isn't a posted limit but I wouldn't overdo it. I usually use the rule one item per guest. We have only done 2 previously.

We have 4 kids and book 2 cabins so last cruise we had 4 mats signed (one for each child and 2 per cabin). We also included some large bags of candy (m&m's, I think) to show our appreciation.

I LOVE the little girls in their dance costumes!! Too, too cute!

OMG!!! 4 1/2 hours!?!?! Those poor kids!!!

I have to ask a question of the other dance parents who have been at this for years. There was a girl in DD's class who stopped coming 2 months ago. She was not there to learn the entire routine to either dance. Her mom wouldn't let her come because she wasn't doing well in school. She showed up for the pictures. She didn't come to the last class. She didn't come to the dress rehersal BUT she showed up at the recital. Would your schools have allowed her to even get on the stage? She threw DD for a loop because they moved her from No. 1 position in the tap number (different count for the opening move) to the No. 2 position which moved her from an A to a B for the next move. She was a trooper but I don't think that it is fair for the other kids in the class when that happens. Just wondering if I am being a "studio mom" being upset when I saw this happen and the look on DD's face through the dance.

Actually Lisa... DD went through 3 different dance schools (2 in PA, 1 in MD) and i don't think either of them would have put up with something like that. That would be so unfair to the other girls who worked hard on their routines and such....

If she were to continue with that school i would "plan" to try not to be in the same class with that other child or maybe just mention something later on to the instructor...

BTW everyone,......

The man has not got me down........

Yes, it's my lunchtime and i was feeling lost without my net... So i took a walk over to the library and voila!!!! Here i am.....:smokin:

(there's a hour limit and smaller screens but i can deal for now)

No Lisa there is no way our dance studio would allow this.

I don't have kids myself, but I have been involved in the dance community for a number of years. I am always surprised at how little the young girls wear when they dance. I know they are going for a "look" and feel for each dance, but I don't think it was ever intended for young kids to look like pimps and hoes to attain that "feel."

Good news! Hope it heels quickly. :)

Good news. Take care of those ligaments, they need to be ready for Sea Duty soon :thumbsup2

Andy

All this talk of Cheese Curds is making me crave Poutine ... A French Canadian masterpiece of French Fries, Cheese curds and gravy. Sounds gross, but delicious!!!

Great news Andrew.. Rest that Calf ... You need it in good shape for the cruise!!!!

Glad it is a ligament.:yay:  I torn a ligament in my ankle......the doctor said it was easier and heals faster it I broke it!!! Ligaments can take a while to heal. Just try to rest if you can.

Wonderful news Andrew. Rest up - only 8 weeks to go.
Thank you for all the good wishes, thanks!:thumbsup2

HAPPY BIRTHDAYS

Ok...I did decide I had to make my FE myself......for good or for bad....I wanted something original I could use as something special. I'm posting a couple pics here so if anyone else is interested in how to make one let me know. I would never go so far as to say it's as nice as all the others, but in the end I made it special for this TOAL and if you are feelin' that same urge it took me less than a day to sew together after having the fabric and images and spending little time designing it. The sewing was not a big deal.

that's really not fair to your dd. our studio wouldn't allow that for sure! they are always giving warnings for attendance.
your dd's pics were adorable!!

that turned out very cute!! nice job!!

Thanks for letting me know I wasn't being overly sensitive to what happened. Next year there are two level 1 classes for tap/ballet/jazz....Tuesday and Friday after school. I have already told the instructor that I want DD to be in the more reliable class.

The prirate FE is really good. I was going to use our same Christmas stocking that we have used for 3 cruises now but Laura surprised me with a package last week. :)

Although we're not "Dance" parents ..... "yet" ..... Alicia coached an AYSO Girls soccer team last year - and we had a child who only showed for barely half if not a third of the practices, and her parents almost never showed for games ... while NEVER showing for a practice. She always came with a baby sitter. So, we fielded constant comlaints from parents about this girl who hardly knew HOW to play - and who really was a liability for the teams' performance. However, winning or losing was NOT what AYSO is all about. It's that EVERYONE plays. And Alicia was judicious about rotating players in - and into different positions.

At any rate, we sort of felt this was a difficult position to find ourselves in. One had to question what was going on at the family who seemed to not care enough to attend - or to get thier child to practices regularly. It was sort of unfair to the team - and that seems to have SOME similarities to the dance situation...

OK.. we gotta run now. I have a dental appointment - plus a few "errands" to run around town today. Busy - busy - busy... DRAT... however, it's not as hot as it has been inthe past few days.

Cheers!

Looks like yours is a classic Disney FE which could be used for everything! I think I see the castle, the princesses, and Mulan (one of my FAVORITE movies along with the Emps New Groove!) very nice :) :)

We have two girls, 9+ and 7; it's happened in dance, gymnastics, and cheerleading. Often we've found it's a situation where the child doesn't like it but parents felt they need to continue out a year they already "committed to". In every case thus far we've found the child, regardless of attendance or participation, is included in the year-end recital or program. Some coaches will actually leave "spots" for girls who are unreliable; as to not change the rountine of those who attend and commit....if yours doesn't; suggest it. Often new coaches or ones who have never experienced it before don't know what to do....it's nice to have a "floater" which still performs things they have the ability to do, yet not throw off those who've practiced for so long :) I hope that helps in some way; but it seems to happen OFTEN for girls things!

So...I thought parasailing was sold out on CC....however, I just looked and at least 1 spot was still open...So I booked it :cool1: ! And am hoping not to regret it because I'm afraid of heights ... ;)
