In group settings with lots of background noise, my hearing is horrible and I have a difficult time keeping up with conversations. That's how I'm feeling today on the DIS.

Me too. I was supposed to get a hearing aid a long time ago and haven't bitten the bullet.
My worst fear is that someone will be telling me something awful (lost job, dog died) and I'll smile and say "That's nice"

I think I've already done that (probably more than once)...

I actually had to get a hearing aid as a child, but haven't worn it in years. When I'm in a meeting and someone whispers to me, they might as well just be miming as I can't read lips.

HEY...I think I figured out this weird DIS thing. Forgive me if someone already thought of this, and it's been sent back 3 pages.....

I think they have us divided into time zones. Not twilight zone...time zone.

Does that make sense? Seems like West Coast posts are where they should be, and east and mid post backward.....

Okay...just a thought from a non-scientific non-mathematician mind. Pay no attention to the crazy lady.

The timezone thing is just changes how the board reflects post times to it users, what messed up (I think) is a thing called memcached which probably got out of sync on whatever systems DIS runs on: http://www.danga.com/memcached/

I heard a lot of people on the June 8 cruise talking about our door signs and the fact that they "didn't know" that they could do that. And also comments about costumes. I actually felt bad for them in one way, that they don't know about the DIS...but on the other hand...imagine if everyone knew....2700 pirates, fish extender gifts, etc etc.....
