Well go easy on the posts the next two days....

Grandmom G passed away this morning.

Funeral is on Friday. I promise to wave if we pass Aston area on the way home. (although it is way easier and less traffic to come home by way of Harrisburg)

I don't know which is worse... being at a funeral or having to play nice with my almost non-existant dad...:faint:

Sorry for your loss. You are in our prayers.

Ah. Well. Best laid plans and all that jazz....

We'd already decided to axe the early part of the trip (Yellowstone, and Glacier) due to fuel costs. And enterain ourselves between here and WA instead. If it weren't for this fancy cruise I'm goin' on, we could've done it. But the choice had to be made. Camping with Bears or 15 day cruise with my online friends.... We'll see the bears next summer. ::yes::

Have you started chatting online with the bears in preparation for TOAL 2009??

THEN, DH found this house he completely fell in love with. We put in an offer last night. If the bank accepts it (it's a foreclosed proterty), we'll be needing to move. And the very best time to put our house on the market will be while the boys and dogs and I are gone. So, I'll be spending the first week of my sabbatical de-clutering the house and getting it ready for sale. We've asked for a July 30 closing date - So I might be cutting short the back end of the camping trip too. The thought of getting back from the cruise, starting school, AND moving is simply overwhelming. So, I could move us in early Aug before we leave for the cruise. We dont have to have our current house sold to close on the new one - so that's one less worry.

YIKES! Good thing you don't have that pesky job thing to worry about this summer. That's insane. I'm worried about being ready for this trip and we're not moving. Heck we're not totally unpacked from last summer.

I can't wait to hear what your prospective buyers think about 9 boxes of pirate t-****s in the living room.

I'm just sitting here laughing because when DH was active duty our moves were always these 5 week quick turn fire drills. This move was supposed to be different - take your time, get everything ready, find a house, get the move done. And what do we have? A 5 week quick turn fire drill.

But, Hey! It's us - why should anything ever be simple??!! Never has been before. At least we're got lots of experience. :rotfl2:

Yes, moving experience is one thing military life is good for. I still rank the arm candy much higher on the list!

At least you have a house to move in to. We've packed up and left the old house without knowing when or where we would have another house for 4 of our 6 moves. I love calling to shut off the utilities, etc. when they ask for a forwarding address for the final bill. "Don't have one." That goes over real well!

Or, the bank could laugh at our offer. :confused3

I hope you get it!
(the house, not the laughter)

You know, bears have a real problem chatting online. Those darn claws keep getting in the way. It's impossible to understand what they're typing.

:rotfl2: Well, it sort of puts it all in perspective. So long as we have clothes and documents, we're good. :thumbsup2 I already have a list from our 7-day in 2006, just a few mods, and we'l be good. Besides, I'll be pawing through everything in the next couple of weeks. Sounds like the perfect time to pack to me. :lmao:

Actually, if we have to move - now's the time to do it. Seeing as how I don't have the pesky job to worry about. Kind of makes for a lousy sabbatical though. :confused3

"Check it out! Parting gifts to thank us for looking! What's your size?"

You're doing better than us, we NEVER knew where we were going to be living when we packed up.

Arm candy is good. :thumbsup2

So do we. If we pull it off it's a "Screamin' deal" - in the words of our mortgage broker.

As I recall, Airborne recently got nailed by the FDA for making false claims about preventing colds and such.

I've looked at the ingrediants - basically it's a vitamin supplement. If you're already taking vitamins, it's probably overkill and has no additional benefit.

I heard the same about the FDA and Airborne. But there are people who swear by it :confused3

Hear, Hear Crew!

Our soft goods will be shippin' 'bout a week late. Our order was 25% larger than we had originally indicated. :thumbsup2 The printer had to order more materials. I'm holdin' him at sword point, and have threatened plank walkin'. But, also said not to sacrafice quality for speed. So, we be figurin' about a week extra. He's brought on extra crew to handle the additional work.

Thanks for doing this!! :thumbsup2

Congrats on the assignment! I'm going to have to go check mine again...

Nothing here yet... I'm hoping that's good news and we'll get an upgrade...

Both those involved pre-trips to our new location. I traveled 2x to CT from FL before we moved there and made a 3 day trip to AK from CT. DH has signed closing paperwork twice without even seeing the house!

The Alaska trip was great. In 3 days I bought a house, got a job and finished my Master's thesis. It's amazing what I can accomplish when I leave DH and DSs at home!

Actual Cruise Question!

How many of you are bringing a laptop?

Now back to your regularly scheduled chatting.

Im sure we will bring our laptop as well so the kids can watch movies on the plane and so we can download pictures.

Signing? What's this signing thing? That's what a Power of Attorney is for.

We were filling out the offer with our agent yesterday. And we're talking about closing during the TOAL. She looks at us weird... "Well, we'd just get a POA for my brother and send him to close for us." :rotfl2: DH and I have NEVER been to a closing for a house (buying or selling) together. One of us always has a POA, and the other is in some other state.

If we really do close on July 30 - it very well may be the same story this time too. :lmao: Only this time HE gets to sign everything twice.

The house we're in right now, DH never saw until after closing. I had the POA. So, I figured it was fair to let him pick the next one... ;)

Hey, don't we have a closing happening on Deck 10 during this cruise? I think I remember Tom offering his services as notary. Maybe we can have a TWO house closing party. :rotfl:

.

Thanks Cheryl, I was just going to ask!
Nope. Thanks for the answers. I was think of bringing mine (haven't traveled with it before). I was thinking of blogging to my land lubbing co-workers, who have lived through my cruise mania for so long!

Now another question. My laptop is Wi Fi ready, what do I need to do to use it on the cruise? Do I need to get anything? I know someone will know!:thumbsup2

Thanks to Roger and Mike for the first aid list. DD swears by Neosporin and band aids!

I'm pretty darn clueless with the tech stuff too. Mine is WiFi ready.
I brought my power cord so that I had it when the battery ran down, and it did. I also bring a mouse because I'm not good with the touchpad thingie.
When I first turned it on in the room, I went to my Control Panel and clicked "Connect To"....and it will show you that DCL has a few options. I ended up calling Guest Services to see which one to use. And of course I can't remember it exactly right now. If you have any trouble at all, call them. You'll login to their website using your first intial and last name and your room number and then make your own password. I think your initial password is your birthdate.

Aye , me macbook always goes with me , plus I will have me new Iphone 3G ....It has GPS so now I may not need me compass :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

pirate:

But does your GPS show what you desire most ?

ETA: See Esteri beat me to this....

Don't worry, plenty of techno geeks types with us, we will get you working if you would like
