Just wanted to say I was not on the boards Monday night or Tuesday because of some medical problems with DGD. :faint: I was babysitting my DGS Monday while my DD took my DGD to the Emergency Room.  My daughter and her family were on vacation last week to the Carolina's and Kentucky. They did eat at a Burger King on Wednesday evening and by Friday my grandaughter was sick. She did have a temperature and was coming out both ends. She continued to be sick and finally on Monday(she saw the doctor in the morning) evening they rushed her to the Emergency room. She was dehydrated and still very sick and weak. She was kept over night and I was at the hospital all day yesterday because she said she would only drink for Mema....which is what she calls me since 1 years old. The hospital released her last night even though she did have 102 degree fever but thought she was well enough to go home. Today DD gets a call from the doctors office that DGD definitely had salmonella. :worried: :worried: The lab is now trying to make sure it is the same strain found in tomatoes which should have been destroyed. I just wanted to make sure everyone knew there is still danger out there.

* my lil'organinzer..got these disney..shirts..so i don't see any way
of getting out of looking....:goofy: . hopfully..no one spots us, :rolleyes1

..my suggestion..for the post cards would be to check..your local visitors'
center...so the kids..could get a "glimpse" of their new friends' home town.

oh, the irish dance ?....i  culture...."doing the hair"..took my
wife liked 3 hrs...& special curlers. alot of the girls..weare wigs, but
from they allowed..could only be the same hair color. what was so neat....
for their dance.., we had went to river dance the night before. alot of
the professional dancers..came & participated ...in "helping"..the kids...

The days you mentioned sounded off to me, so I looked at the FAQs on the DL board here and this is what I found:

Magic Morning Basics

What? Entrance to Disneyland Park one hour before official park opening to ride select attractions

When? MM is currently offered on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (the days that start with "S" and "T"). And MM is ALWAYS one hour before official park opening.

Who? There are two ways of gaining the opportunity of using MM.
1) Buying ANY ticket of 3 or more days. This will entitle the ticket holder to one MM admission. There are some exceptions such as Gay Day tickets and convention tickets, but most big name ticket sellers have MM eligible tickets (Disney, AAA, Costco, So. Cal City Pass, most online sources such as ARES Travel)

2) Staying at one of the 3 onsite hotels (Grand Californian, Disneyland Hotel, or Paradise Pier Hotel). This will entitle the hotel guests MM admission every day that it is offered during their stay (including arrival (yes, possibly before your room is ready) and departure days) regardless of where you buy your tickets from. For example, if a family was staying at one of the onsite hotels for a long weekend (visiting the parks Saturday, Sunday, and Monday). They would be allowed to use MM on both Saturday and Sunday; however, a guest staying offsite would have to pick one or the other.

How? For onsite guests, show your charge slip (given to you at check in) and ticket at the gates and you will be allowed in. For other guests, you enter just like you would normally and the MM is deducted from your ticket. There is no extra piece of paper needed for MM. Just your ticket and if you are staying onsite, the charge slip.

MM FAQ

What attractions are open for MM?
Well the rides open are technically "subject to change", but here is a list of rides that have in the past been open during this hour.

In Fantasyland:
-Peter Pan's Flight
-Dumbo
-Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
-Alice in Wonderland
-Mad Tea Party
-Matterhorn Bobsleds
-King Arthur Carousel
-Snow White's Scary Adventures
-Pinocchio's Daring Journey
-It's a Small World (Holiday)* (currently going through a year long refurb, earliest possible reopening date is Nov. 08, but it could be as late as Jan 09)

In Tomorrowland:
-Space Mountain
-Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters
-Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage
-Astro Orbitor*
-Star Tours*

*Not as consistently open as others. They might be open if large crowds warrant it.

Are Fastpasses offered for Space or Buzz during MM?
No

What about AP holders?
The only way AP holders can take advantage of MM is by staying onsite

For guests staying at the DLH or PPH can you take the monorail?
You can use the monorail to enter the park for MM; however it is a better option to walk through DTD and use the main entrance. The monorail sometimes beats the front gate crowds. Sometimes not.

Is there rope drop on MM days?
On days where official park opening is 8AM, MM would be 7AM. There is no rope drop at 7, but there is a rope drop at 8 at the entrance to Frontierland and Adventureland. Also nobody is let into the park until 7AM. Non-MM guests might be allowed in any time between 7:30 and 8AM

On days where official park opening is 10AM, MM would be 9AM. I believe that there is a rope drop at 9 at Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. Then another at 10AM for Adventureland and Frontierland. Nobody is let into the park until 9AM. Non-MM guests might be allowed in any time between 9:30 and 10AM.

On days where official park opening is anything else, opening procedures may change depending on crowd size.

What time should I arrive for MM?
Half an hour before MM time (1 1/2 hours before official park opening) is generally a good time to arrive. However if you want to be one of the first ones on Nemo, plan on arriving 45+ before MM time (so 1 hour and 45 min before official park opening). But for Fantasyland or Tomorrowland touring, if you arrive a little later, you should still be fine.

What time does the parking lot open on MM days?
The lot opens 30 minutes before MM begins, so unless you are one of the first couple cars in line, if you plan on parking in the lots, don't plan on getting to the gates by or before MM opening.

Is MM the same as Mickey's Toontown Morning Madness?
No, Mickey's Toontown Morning Madness (MTTMM) is only for people who buy packages from AAA, Costco, Disney, etc. MTTMM is entry into Mickey's Toontown one hour before it opens. Since Mickey's Toontown usually opens one hour after official park opening, MTTMM often begins at official park opening. Different to MM days, MTTMM is offered on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, making Saturday the only day in which both MM and MTTMM is offered.

Is MM offered at California Adventure also?
Different from WDW, MM is only offered at Disneyland Park. However, DCA frequently opens half an hour early to allow guests to ride Soarin (only) and line up for rope drop.

Is MM like EMH's at WDW? Should I avoid MM days at DL like I avoid EMH days at WDW?
MM is extremely different from EMH and one should not avoid MM days at DL to try and beat the crowds. At WDW it is a good idea to avoid the WDW parks with EMH's because they are often more crowded; however at DLR I would never recommend going to only one park, on one day like at WDW. It's so much easier to hop at DLR, so I would always start at DL for the morning (MM or not) and then hop over to DCA for the middle of the day. MM does not affect park attendance at DL as much as EMH's affect park attendance at the WDW parks. If you have MM privileges, definitely don't hesitate to use it.

What if I don't have MM. Should I still go to DL on a MM day? Will it be already extremely crowded when I enter?
Definitely start at DL on a MM day even if you don't have MM. Only Fantasyland and some Tomorrowland rides are open, so you can still get an equal rope drop for the Adventureland/Frontierland side of the park. Then later in the day, hop over to DCA if you want.

2 MM's without staying onsite?
If you've heard of getting 2 MM's without staying onsite, you aren't going crazy. GetAwayToday is having a special in which their tickets offer 2 MMs without having to stay onsite.

What about during special events?
Sometimes during events (grad nights in particular), DL will change the MM dates. Also DL, on some special events in the past (the Pirate movie premieres), has opened ridiculously early (6AM). In this case MM will not be offered that day. It's always a good thing to check these boards for special event MM changes as the event approaches.

When does security open on a MM day?
According to one board member, the security lines have opened at 6:25-6:30 on a day when the park opens at 8AM and MM is at 7AM.

Where should I wait in line?
The best bet to secure your front of the line spot, is to just wait by the security tables, even if the esplanade is open. The guests in the esplanade will be forced to backtrack and go through security when Cast Members show up.

If I get to the turnstiles too early, will I lose my well earned place at the front of the line?
Yes. Prior to the official opening of the security lines, all guests must leave the esplanade to get in line at the security tables. Instead of being at the turnstiles, at the front of the line, you will be behind all of the guests who lined up at the security tables.

That should be it for now. I will update this thread if any other questions come up. I'm happy to add anyone else's info on EE/MM to add. Thanks!

Thanks to Hydroguy, Hound109, Bumbershoot, and S.S Columbia for help so far. Always looking for more input.

Extraordinarily useful information (especially since I'm staying onsite this time).

The only thing it doesn't address is how to succeed at waking up that early. Definitely not my strong suit. :rolleyes1

My DGM is nearing the end of her life. They gave her last rites on Saturday but the staff at the nursing home told my dsis it's just a matter or time. She is in her late 80's and unfortunately has had pretty bad alzheimers for the past 10 yrs. She doesn't know who she is and didn't know who my grandfather even was the last few years of his life either.... She was always so nice to my Dsis and i as kids so it has hurt me to not have her know who we are or who her Great grandkids are. :worried: She'll be a better place though at least.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your grandmother.

This is for everyone going to DL and CA before TOAL.
Our favorite resturant is in CA (actually in all of DL resort) is the Vineyard Room. The food is excellent, the service is great and the view is fantastic. The resturant is upstairs and open so you can see the park.We have brought our kids, and they loved it! The Vineyard Room is expensive (about the same as Napa Rose) but being outside, I felt not as stuffy for kids. (IMO)They serve a comp hors d'oeuvre and the kids even tried it! (gazpacho when we were there) Waiter was great with the kids and still kept the dinner very elegant for adults.

Stace...........I just don't see your name on Julie's FE list????:confused3 :confused3 I am starting to get them together and you are missing.

We aren't in with the big group for a couple of reasons. For one thing, there are 5 of us, as opposed to one family, so it really wouldn't be very fair to anyone for us to be in the group. I wouldn't expect anyone to have to put 5 items in our FE. And....at the end of the last Mom's cruise, we had to sit and divide up all the goodies, and that wasn't fair either.
SO.....we are only doing it with the couple of people cruising with us who aren't DISers. And each of us Moms has a few things to put in for eachother, to make it a little more fun.

I really didn't want to say anything, because I didn't want to offend the group here by seeming to be snotty or not participating.
I really hope everyone understands that we really just didn't want to put anyone out.

Hi!
I have a quick question regaurding the canopy tours in PV. On their website under "frequently asked questions" listed under "what should I bring" it states to bring a swim suit and towel and then has (Nov.-July) next to it. My question is if anyone knows if we will be able to swim during our visit??

Thanks!!

It looks like after the zip-line you can swim in the pool (river?). They have slides and rope swings into the water below the resturant. On their website, there is a video where you can see all of this! This is (the swimming ) is the only way I will get my kids to do the zip-line!( oh, and the animals too)

Yes, we can definitely swim if we want -- I don't know why it says that -- I know I was told that we could swim after the zip if we wanted. I would actually think that the water would be too cold to swim in other than in August -October!

Wow, that is scary. It's just crazy that we keep having these issues with our food chain -- you want to eat healthily and then get warnings about spinach, watermelons, tomatoes, etc.

Extraordinarily useful information (especially since I'm staying onsite this time).

For me, it is the terror of thinking how much worse it will be later in the day if I don't get up and do the early entry that forces me out of bed . . . much better to be able to take off in the afternoon and enjoy the hotel pool while everyone else faces the crowds!

I don't do raw tomatoes, but it's a good warning!

I don't think anyone will take offense. On the contrary, I suspect I will be but the first who must apologize in advance - for I'm afraid that while wandering the decks dropping off gifts at some absurd time of night, it's possible I might accidentally drop something into your FE (or that of others who aren't participating). I'll try to avoid it, but if it happens, I apologize in advance for the family strife that it will cause. :worried:

Good to know about the tomatoes. I can't remember eating any recently, most places won't sell them right now.

Oh Cheryl, that is just awful. Poor thing....I hope she feels better quickly :flower3:

Afternoon all! I have dd all set for day camp. Went to the Dr's to get the Health Appraisal from filled out. Ins doesn't cover it, yuck! But I have a med reimbursement account that will. DD is 57" tall:scared1: 5 more inches and she will be 5 feet! I have the feeling she is going to go through a growth spurt this summer. She was eating like a pig for a couple of weeks and has tappered down. That is usually followed by her shooting up. She was happy she didn't have to get any shots, but will need a tetanus booster. The Dr also mention the Garasall immunization, but I said that could wait till she is in the teen years.

Trying to ketchup, so stop talking! LOL! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Interesting about dance classes. At dd's dance school they wouldn't have allowed someone to not attend classes and participate in the recital. Especially if they weren't paying the tutition monthly. I can see where it would freak out the other girls, dd always knows her part and where the others are suppose to be, it would throw everything off. Now with softball the league has a policy that every kid plays even if they never attend a practice. DD couldn't do Monday practices but could make the Saturday ones. No game tonight! Monday's game we were freezing, yesterday it was nice and warm.

I am soo going to that! If I can't have my Disney Wedding..I can at least invite them....I wonder if I can do the same for mr incredible???

Planning Question!!!!
