Yeah, # of minutes. I try for 1000 per month.
Umm, been know to do 450 in the last week of the month just to make it! My week of biking & a triathlon put me over the top early this month.

There is an Exercise Challenge thread each month on the W.I.S.H. board for accountability, encouragement, etc.

Some people count a walk around the block with their kids, or minutes of housecleaning, others only count dedicated 'exercise' time. How much you challenge yourself is up to you. I can recall everything from about 200 to 2000+ minutes as a goal.

Thanks, I'll check out the Exercise Challenge. This month, I've worked out (biking or in-line skating) for 45 to 60 minutes everyday! I so wish I could run again, but my knee just won't let me.

Playing ketchup here so bear with me;)

:wave2: Guys! Can't get my dd out of bed today. I;m chomping at the bit to get goign and she's still in bed. Can't blame here though - we have been running non-stop since we got here and the week is almost up. Darn it! Haven't made it to Georgetown or the National Cathedral yet.

OH well, did I mention that I got to see Marine One yesterday? Cheryul - tell John there's a message for him on my blog! :lmao:

:lmao: alk to you all later. I just heard a rustle from the bed - maybe I can rustle her out of bed in the next 1/2 hr! YEAH RIGHT!

Laura, you've seen more of DC in one week than I've seen in years:lmao:
Was so great finally meeting you last Sunday:banana:
Whoops...wasn't on the net until today after church (see i'm trying)

Well i hope to still meet you guys in August though...
Kristina I tried sending you an email but it was sent back. I'm guessing the Dis has an old email address and you may need to update it (not the work email though, right;) )

We had a great DC Mini Meet today with Laurie (Mrs. Scoobie) & Family, Mike & Linda (cruisin'Mike), Laura (Eeyorelover10) & DD, and me and my DSs. We had lunch at the Natural History Museum Cafe. After about 2 hours, we left the cafe, took a photo and (I thought) parted ways to explore the museum. 1.5-2 hours later, the boys and I were leaving the museum...and there was everyone else...right where we left them. They never left! Just stood there chatting for hours. Sounded fun, but DSs would not have been happy if I didn't let them explore a bit. Everyone was wonderful and friendly (as expected). Even more reasons to look forward to TOAL!
Thank God they didn't have a lounge cause if we had been sitting comfortably, we'd probably still be there:lmao:
Your boys were very patient, way more than my DD:headache:

It's funny how quickly 4-5 hours went! Everybody was so easy to talk to. It was great to see Laurie & Darren again, and to meet Laura and M! If our kids were with us (instead of at my parents), we would have been walking around the museum too.

Here's a picture, although I'm sure that Laura got a better one:thumbsup2

From the left, it's Darren,Laurie and Kelly (Andrew couldn't make it), Linda & myself, M with Nate & Drew, and Laura. And a big thanks to Laura's DD Meghan for taking the pic!
P6220001.jpg
Thanks for posting the pic:thumbsup2 Gotta try and keep my eyes open for the next one:rotfl:
And...Andrew did mow the lawn as he had been told to when we got home:faint:

I really wish that we had a studio nearby that taught the Irish step dance. It is so pretty and I love the music!!!

I love going to the Irish Dance show at Busch Gardens. Very cool to watch:cool1:

If you click on the picture it shows a larger image. I spent many hours hand embroidering the characters. Pleased with the results.

You are very talented. I can't barely sew a button

Good Morning everyone! TGIF!

Hope everyone is doing well this morning.

Wristband Update!

I finally finalized the wristband order! So here is the good news and the semi-not so good news.

Thanks Tina for all your work!!!

Speaking of credit cards - this might be a good time to remind people about the Capital One credit cards. Generally speaking, they are the only card still available that imposes no foreign transaction fees. For those who plan on spending significant money abroad, this can save you quite a bit.

Thank you - that is the card I usually use so that I can get those air miles (even though those benefits are dwindling fast)

So the NY meet is Aug 3 at the Marriott Marquis? Has a time been settled?

 Me (and allshookup) were going to try to make this, but I am leaving on the 8th for CA and NO WAY would DH go for it. I would have loved to join you all

Oh I hope the tag fairy see's this one! LOL If thats not tagable material, I don't know what is...hehehe

HA!!! That along with my "rum" tag and people will definately start talking :rolleyes1

Here is a picture of our cruise jar! lol
IMG_4813.jpg

Looks like my jar, but not as pretty as yours

ATTENTION ATTENTION

If you are in Capt's dining , on Pirate night we are planning to meet at Shipwreck Cove (known as the Promenade Lounge to you land lubbers...lol ) right before dinner and then we can all march together into the dinning room ....As to create a Parade of Pirates ...( I promise no wardrobe malfunctions this time ..LOL ) I think this will kick off Pirate night like no other , bring your Pirate flags and hoist your colors .....Of course we will march into the dining room fashionably late to create a little ruckus amongst the crew that wasnt informed about Pirate night :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

So all you Scurvy Dogs , Wonderful Wenches and just plain ole rum soaked Pirates ......By the sweat of our brow and the strength of our backs and the courage in our hearts! What Say ye !! I say Aye .......... Savvy !!!!!!

Cool! That is MUCH better prices :woohoo: Have you ever tried them? Any idea if the glasses are OK?

Thanks,

Pamela

I have not, I want to order some prescription sunglasses before the cruise. I have read lots of positive reviews.

Thought I would try to ketchup tonight, but I'm still on page 39!:scared1: Hard to ketchup at work with a major project under way.

Wanted to show you a pic of Katie's new friend Stanley!

100_1945-1.jpg

Stanley was at my workplace today. Caused quite abit of a stir! The guy from the Red Wings Org said that this is the only trophy in pro sports that is truly for the people as it travels all over. There is even a guy whoes job is to escort Stanley around! Sounds like a great job to me!

DS11 asked me to post pictures of him learning to dive. These are from his last pool session. I forgot the camera both days at the lake. Bad Mother! :(

ALL DONE!!
AllDonewithPool-sm.jpg

.

Tooooo flipping cute....Congrats to your DS

Here are the pictures taken last night at the Issaquah DisMeet. We had a lot of fun (well Caropooh's DSis was at a loss most of the night as she isn't cruising with us and hasn't been to WDW in many years) meeting and talk (and talking and talking) with Disfreaks & Family and A Little Pixie Dust and DD. DD14 spent most of the drive home texting Disfreaks DD.

grat Pics - looks like a fun time was had by all!!!

Good morning all!! We are still at DVC Hilton Head until Wed. (Internet here is the pits though!) It is so beautiful and relaxing here. I know that I am sooooooooooooooo far behind on the threads. I was organizing some pictures this morning and wanted to show you my FE that arrived the day before we left. I asked out talented custom window treatment to make one for me. Laura--FGM. She did an AWEsome job!

I wear Keen's like these, and have them double as my excursion/water/beach shoe. Even with my bad feet, they are really comfortable and supportive.

Ohh, closed toe sandals - that would work for me

GREAT KEEPSAKE IDEA

I went to the craft store today and bought 2 signature mats. 11 x 14 mat that has space for a 5 x 7 picture. I am dropping them on day one at the front desk with a set of multi - colored sharpies and getting them signed by the characters. Then I have one for a picture of each kid. Last cruise I dropped off 12x12 scrapbook pages and then look great! Now if I could just get some other pages done from that trip...

Great isea...what craft store did you get the mat at?

I need some input on dressing up for pirate night. Christopher is not interested but I am. We have worn pirate scarfs on our heads, eye patches, and pirate earrings before but nothing more than that. I would be somewhat interested in dressing like 'Scarlett' from POTC. What are your thoughts?:confused3

Cool! That is MUCH better prices :woohoo: Have you ever tried them? Any idea if the glasses are OK?

Thanks,

Pamela

I haven't used these people, but have used eyebuydirect.com with great success.

If you'd prefer to shop locally, many Costco stores have optical departments, and I've been happy with my purchases there as well.

Dan

:confused3 :confused3 Stupid here....what is that?

WHOO HOOOO!!! SCORE ONE FOR THE WENCHES!!! And I wasn't trying!!! much.
Congrats Stace:banana: :woohoo:

Stacey I forgot to tell you that I had more post in a week than you. Of course you were on vacation :rolleyes1
Hi Cherie:yay:

presto_girl_wow.gif

SOoooo.....

Just for chuckles... how about another FRIENDLY round of.....

i0EDEE987-E6C9-4641-85BF-D8A0BDB2D818.jpg

1.)... What is the FIRST "HAPPY THOUGHT" that comes to mind now? Or recently....???
My DS14 had a doctor appointment this morning and he's grown 2.5 inches since Feb.:woohoo: I let him ride in the front seat of the car for the first time since he is finally past the safe height limit:goodvibes

2.)... What comes to mind as something you wish could be CHANGED about your cabin - and you are free to use your imagination any way you wish in replying to this or any of the questions BELOW. Silly or serious... no sweat.
Separate bedroom and tv for the kids and the adults

3.)... What would you like INTRODUCED (added or changed) to our dinner dining if possible?
Hmmm, the cool coffee pots they have at Victoria and Albert's

4.)... What would you like INTRODUCED (added or changed) to the POOL AREA(s) .... or alternatively.... any public area or place on the ship?
Easy, an adult slide

5.)... Do you DANCE a "real" dance ... or do you sort of hop around and randomly swing your arms madly about?
the hop around one

6.)... If you wish .... please ask a quesion for the next person posting to reply to. Only ONE question please... and try to maintain a cordial and diplomaticly respectful tone with this question.
What is your favorite movie ?

7.)... answer the LAST question posed by a past respondant to this edition of "7 questions".... and if you wish... feel free to reply to ANY or ALL of the questions posed by other neighbors on part #6. And I'm repeating these last two from the other "7 question" round simply because it seems to have been a FUN and popular aspect of the last round of "7 questions"!
What one place on the ship you are looking forward to spending time at?
Palo
Oh and Crash-definitely guilty ;)

So... may I bid one and all good cheer as I slip a away to double check and tuck my kids in fer the nite ... and MAYBE turn in myself for the nite.

Today was Kid To Work Day (KTWD) at our campus. 1200 kids age 8-18 on site. Wheeee. Ask if anyone got any real work done. Go ahead, ask. :rotfl2: We used to do it during the school year, but there were so many local kids that it basically shut down the schools. So the district nicely asked us to do it during the summer.

I took both DS11 and DS7 (a year early) today. They had a good time. DS7 had workshops for "Lego Talk" and "Tesla Coils". DS11 had "Tesla Coils" and "Lego Mindstorms". They always complain that they miss stuff (and they do), but two workshops is all I'm allowed to sign them up for. There are about 15-20 different workshops for a variety of ages - not all science related. HR did one on resume writing for the high school crowd.

There was loads of walk in stuff to do too. A campus scavenger hunt, Mad Science, a Hands on Science fair, and a couple of hands on technology areas (read lots of computer games, and lessons on how to build a PC). DS11 was disappointed that we didn't have the labs open this year. Two years ago (we missed last year) one of the labs was open so they got to play with the infrared sensors, liquid nitrogen, and the electron microscope. :confused3 The lab was probably busy, and couldn't spare the day.

Honestly, I don't know who has more fun, the kids, or all the adults putting on the event. It's basically an opportunity for everyone to come out and play for the day. :rotfl:

Did we get to all of it? Heck no! Did I get any work done? (You had to ask. :sad2: ) Well, I did manage a few emails, and expense report, and a couple of 30 minute meetings at the end of the day. :rotfl2:

DS is disappointed that I won't let him grow his hair out all summer to make the costume more authentic.

It's summer! It's not like he's in uniform or anything. I say - let him grow it out!! Besides, in 8 weeks he's only going to get about 2" - so it's not really all that "grown out". ;)

The newspaper did a lovely misprint and put our phone number for info for a garden show. My phone is ringing off the hook all day yesterday and today and the show isn't till Saturday! I changed it to 2 rings and changed our message to "There was a misprint in the newspaper. *our #* is not the number for the garden show." OY

I hope someone from the paper called to apologize. Sheez!

Do you have more details? I may be interested.

I PM'd you.

.

Great pitcure!!! Looks like another fun DIS Meet :thumbsup2

she's our gumby! there were parents coming up to us after her dances yesterday in shock! she gets such a kick out of their expressions! here is my little pirate:
Copyofnew5-16-08054.jpg
somebody give that girl a mat...my chin hurts just looking at her :rotfl2:

seriously, she looks great. Thanks for sharing

I am done with seating people with people and all your tables are assigned. ::yes:: ::yes:: The tables will be a surprise because this is not easy to fill a stations, try not to use the stations that move far away from the other stations when into the next restaurant. It is worse than putting a 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzle together!!!!!!:  :rolleyes1

Cheryl, my hat off to you and Kristina :worship: :worship: . I did this, but for a much smaller group than this cruise and know that it is alot of work. I want you to know you are both very much appreciated in your efforts to make this cruise so special for everyone.

Ok...I did decide I had to make my FE myself......for good or for bad....I wanted something original I could use as something special. I'm posting a couple pics here so if anyone else is interested in how to make one let me know. I would never go so far as to say it's as nice as all the others, but in the end I made it special for this TOAL and if you are feelin' that same urge it took me less than a day to sew together after having the fabric and images and spending little time designing it. The sewing was not a big deal.
FE.jpg
FE2.jpg

Again, can't sew a button so I am toally in awe of your talents. Looks beautiful!!!

So...I thought parasailing was sold out on CC....however, I just looked and at least 1 spot was still open...So I booked it :cool1: ! And am hoping not to regret it because I'm afraid of heights ... ;)

I signed up DD, although she doesn't know it yet. Hopefully the "height " thing will not freak her out

Me again, and totally off-topic. But....I actually cooked dinner last night....and I just want to tell you all how spoiled we are going to be.
But anyway....potatoes boiled over, and left spots on the stove.
As I was getting ready to clean it....this is what I saw....no touch-ups...no kidding:

IMGP0981.jpg

FREAKY, but cool :cool2:

You do know a 36 ain't that big right... My DH is taller and not that thick and he wears a 36.

I think we should come up with a list of pirate:s around the ship with different size pants. As we grow during our TOAL we can borrow somebody else's pants who by now would be to small for the as well.
I have to admit that I am considering taking at least one pair of pants that is a little large on me now, just in case.

Thanks, I'll check out the Exercise Challenge. This month, I've worked out (biking or in-line skating) for 45 to 60 minutes everyday! I so wish I could run again, but my knee just won't let me.

Great job Christopher ::yes:: I can no longer run either due to knee problems but biking seems to be OK.

Lisa,
WOW! Our last Disney cruise was the Mexican Riviera in 2005 and I did a 40 page book from that. I actually bought one of the books on the ship, and it wound up falling apart, unfortunately they do not sell extra page protectors or extender posts. So now I need to find another book for it. I can't even imagine how many pictures we will take on this TOAL, it will probably have to go in 2 books (at least) :rotfl2: There is a lot of good pirate stuff out now. I think I have some pirate paper in the store, which I will pull and share with all of the scrappers.
Debi

Sorry you have to close up shop!!  It is hard times for lots of people out there.:(

Lisa,

Just today we attended our 1st swim team practice - and I noticed one of the younger girls whom we knew well as wearing an odd swim suit "tight" with curious geometry and patches. So I casually enquired - and the Mom told me her daughter's suit had patches to cover her SKIN GRAFTS to prevent scarring. Further conversation revealed that thier daughter had been RUN OVER by a car! It was then I realized that here it was that thier daughter was probably the one I heard about! Some of the neighbors had been talking about a little girl in our community who had been riding her bicycle with her sister and father - and had gotten a bit ahead of them (Dad trailing)... and a car backed out of the driveway and ... and this happened.

The notion I am suggesting is that we need to LEAD our kids when riding bikes, scooters or anything else. I am guilty of NOT keeping up except when the kids reach an interesection - where they are forbidden to cross without an adult. WELL.... since having heard this story I now lead my kids on rides anywhere. And, now it comes to pass that we KNEW the family who had this tragedy. We've been to the Hollywood Bowl with them - done neighborhood pot luck gatherings and such - but obviously we're not THAT close to them. And oddly enough we had not done much with them in a few months. Now we know why we had not seen much of the parents like we used to. [ Sigh ] .... Thier kids are one grade ahead of Julianna and Kelea respectively... so our kids are close in age but don't quite match up for some kinds of gatherings.

At any rate, I had mentioned there might besome who would think there was somtething positive to be "GLAD" about. And having seen the recovering little one I can say it is wonderful to see her practicing with the swim team. Her recovery implies a lot of healing has resulted in a lot of normal function recovered in spite of the horriffic nature of the accident. And - of course - I only found out superficially today. SO I did not ask how much recovery has really occured - and how much is NOT recovering the way we'd like. Questons like that are not quite appropriate ... yet. OR... possibly ever... depending upon the circumstances. Only time will tell.

19474.jpg

Remember... I was the one who was also hit by a car while I rode my bicycle in a charitable fundraiser for MS ... where it broke my hip and a wrist... plus I lost a few ounces of skin too from the tumble. So - bicycle accidents are something I am uniquely qualified to remark on. Everyone must remember to ALWAYS wear a properly adjusted crash helmet - because in my case the helmet was damaged/destroyed - as it should be in protecting ME from having my head seriously damaged.

At any rate - I share these experiences in the hopes that someone - someday here will AVOID a tragedy because of the increased caution that they exercise while recalling my TURE stories. We're all trying desperately to do the best we can - I really believe that - yet we're all imperfect people (excepting maybe counselors Lil'G or TOM31 who "might" be p-e-r-f-e-c-t :duck: ) so hopefully the best we can do is ENOUGH... eh?! < wink >

banner33.jpg

We know a woman who had biked for a charity and just died. She had not wore a helmut and her wheel caught a curb. She went down on her head and was unconcious for over two years. She just died leaving two children and her husband alone. :( :( :( :( :(

Stacey I forgot to tell you that I had more post in a week than you. Of course you were on vacation :rolleyes1

If you keep posting........ it will become addictive!!!::yes:: ::yes::

Just for fun...here is the Mom's fish extender....

IMGP0448.jpg

Stace...........I just don't see your name on Julie's FE list????:confused3 :confused3 I am starting to get them together and you are missing.

Ok...I did decide I had to make my FE myself......for good or for bad....I wanted something original I could use as something special. Great job on FE but I can't find your name listed either.:confused3 :confused3 Send your name to Bellelinus if you want to be included.

Sorry to hear that Cheryl that is very sad. Cherie always checks to make sure I have mine on (I never ride without it) and my cell phone. You just never know what could happen out there.

Hi all! It's been ages since I posted and I can't believe this trip is less than 2 months away. I am so psyched, I feel like I think of nothing else. Our desk top was down for over 3 months and every time I signed on DH laptop, it would bounce me back to his screen name.

Have been working a p/t job for a lawyer since March, and will be closing my scrapbook store before we leave for our trip. It has been a rough ride, and with the economy so bad, hobbies get put to the back shelf. I understand that, we are all having a hard enough time just putting food on our table and gas in our car! I did 2 shows this year which I also did last year, and I didn't do half as well at them, so it was time to make a decision and pack it in. I am ok with the decision, and trying to get it all done before our trip so I can go away with a clear head and enjoy.

Of course, dopey me didn't get on for ressies till late the night they were available and we didn't get anything for Palo brunch, no CC Cabana massage, and a few other things were closed out. We managed to get a few of our choices, so it was okay. We only got the first night Paol dinner. Hopefully there will be some things available when we board, but I also keep checking the website for availability.

I hope you all are well and anticipating as much as I am. Will be back later.

Debi

Welcome Back, Debi. Sorry to hear about your store

Happy Birthday George!!!

pirate: 'ing to say...Happy (belated) Birthday, George

hmmmm. I tried to quote Andrew's "injection" comment and it seem's that it isn't allowed! :confused3 ;)

Hmmmm :scratchin :scratchin :rolleyes2

Hey folks .. just wanted to announce that we got a ROOM!!! Okay, well I guess we won't be sleeping in the lifeboats. They were getting pretty cozy . ..LOL. We'll be in Room 2108! Yeah! DH is happy that we're in the back of the ship and not way forward. Personally I am just happy to be on the ship at all.

Today was tough b/c the contract for our house fell through. I'm sure there is someone else out there that will love our house. Just ready to get this move over with.

It's been fun reading about all the scrapbookers. I did one book of our last cruise and I'm looking forward to doing this one, too. DH and the DSs LOVE reading thru the books and showing them to others. Really helps us remember those great memories!

Have a terrific night!

Theresa 8-)

Congrats on the room, but sorry about the house falling through

:confused3 :confused3 Stupid here....what is that?

WHOO HOOOO!!! SCORE ONE FOR THE WENCHES!!! And I wasn't trying!!! much.

CONGRATS...another one for the wenches!!!

Actually, both this post and the one before it bring up good points - it's important not to judge too harshly until you've walked a few miles in the other person's shoes. Even the most concientious parents will have different perspectives and values.

So who is right? Does choosing one approach over the other make one parent concientious and the other negligent? Accidents are possible either way.

Great post....so easy to sit and judge another's parenting skills. Until you walk in someone else's shoes (or live in someone else's house) you do not have any clue as to what another family might be going through and the reasons behind the (often difficult) choices they must make for their children.

God's way of saying, "Have a nice day!"

AMEN!!!

Love you FE Shella!
