We are actulally going to have one right by Woodfield shopping Center!!

It's not going to be a full-scale theme park like the one in California.

The LEGOLAND Discovery Center will open its doors in the United States for the first time in August, 2008 at the Streets of Woodfield shopping center in Schaumburg, Illinois.

The LEGOLAND Discovery Center features hands-on brick-building activities, life-sized LEGO adventures, and lots of other fun and surprises to provide hours of entertainment for the whole family.

The 30,000-square-foot location includes a dragon ride, an adventure trail, a 4D theater filled with LEGO creatures and spectacular special effects, a DUPLO® play area for younger builders, birthday party rooms, a LEGO café, a LEGO store, and a special exhibition room with rotating displays of models made by real LEGO Master Builders!

The LEGOLAND Discovery Center Chicago/Schaumburg is based on the one that opened in Berlin, Germany in 2007 and now attracts more than 500,000 visitors annually.

Roger wrote on the last thread:

Just checked DCL and no rooms are available Maybe they are assigning GTYs

I did a quick tally of the number GTY's from the cabin list that is started on the Pirate Zone. Obviously not complete but it gives you an idea of how many are waiting in each CAT.

CAT 4 - 5 gtys
CAT 5 - 3 gtys
CAT 6 - 4 gtys
CAT 7 - 0 gtys
CAT 8 - 1 gty
CAT 9 - 4 gtys
CAT10 - 4 gtys
CAT 11 - 7 gtys
CAT 12 - 0 gtys

3 gty - but no cat stated.

We're a cat 12 GTY and hoping for an upgrade...

We'll be at DL for 3 nights - arriving late on Thursday. We are planning on seeing all we can at DL and DCA in 2 days with 4 kids, 2 little ones. Our plan is to eat counter service on land to save time and money. Any recommendations are appreciated....

Well we have to do Casey's in every MK Type park we go to (Disneyland, Tokyo DL, MK) and we also always do Award Weiners and the Corn Dog King. We were VERY disappointed last time we went with Casey's... No more fries. Only choices were chips (the cheap Lay's) and apple slices. Every time we asked for the apples they were out! We'll also eat at anything else that sounds good and is close when we get hungry.

We're past the 60 day mark. You would think we should start getting them room assignments any day now :confused3 .

Does anyone remember when the WB's starting seeing theirs?

They started seeing theirs en-masse at the 31 day mark. I'm guessing we'll start to see ours somewhere in the 7/16 to 7/18 date range (and we're still a GTY9, just checked).

Thanks for sharing the Legoland pic's - guess it means that I don't have a choice but to go there now. DH and DS would never forgive me if we didn't. We've pretty much firmed up our CA plans, just finalizing the food now. Hitting Legoland the afternoon of 8/14 after we arrive. CA on the 15th and DL on the 16th. We're doing breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen one day, have to go to the Rainforest at DTD - think we're going to do that on the 16th for an early lunch. It's dinner on the 16th and lunch on the 15th that have me stumped right now.

good morning all!! just got back from taking my youngest ds to his last day of preschool. hard to believe how time flies! it was a fast school year for him...and me! i can't believe there will be no more preschool kids for me!!
hope everyone has a great day!

....and, I would guess that means no more pre-school tuition bills:cool1: :cool1:

Ok, it's OFFICIAL ... I had my first dream about this Cruise last night :rotfl: It wasn't a nightmare, I didn't forget to pack my clothes, I didn't miss the ship. We boarded, found out we got a fabulous complimentary upgrade (hence the reason I knew it was a dream from the start :lmao: ) The room was a "new" one w/a funky angular layout ... I was just getting ready to invite you all in to see the new room when the doggone alarm went off and woke me up :headache:

Happy Wednesday everyone. DH is on a field trip to Six Flags w/DS11. Right now the weather is fine, but rain is supposed to move in this afternoon ... I'm hoping it holds off until much later in the day so they can have some fun on the rides. I've got to scoot home in a few ... finish a couple of last minute "cleaning" tasks and then take my dog out of the house. We're having our first showing since the house went Back-on-Market ... cross your fingers that these folks fall in love with the house and make an offer right away :wizard:

Well everyone has been busy since the sandman put us to sleep last night.

Okay which one is me???????:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I DON'T SEE ANY BLONDES!!!

I see we all also forgot to wear our black sail away t-****'s.

Cool.

I said please.....

However, in light of your deliberate disregard and the fact that you are laughing at JR's jokes (it only encourages him), I see a visit to the locker in your future!

Me thinks the Capt'n be needed a goodly supply of planks on this cruise.

Man, they do like to torture their customers, don't they?

They believe in building the excitment to fever pitch.

and for those who couldn't sell Susan's toe from her eye, here's a pic from the beach yesterday. You still can't see her baby blues, but her swim goggles are also UVA/B sunglasses:

WARNING: for anyone who's on any kind of snorkel/water excursion with us on the TOAL, Susan will always be the last person back on board lol.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is too funny!!!:hyper: :hyper: I love me in a formal......I look like the queen standing there.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Thanks, Roger.

But, you say no luck with that, eh? I have had pretty good luck doing that at WDW when I call first thing in the AM for parties of 2 or 3 with some of the sought after restaurants (Brown Derby, Lecellier).

May be because you have a smaller party size???:confused3

Thanks, I am going to try to get in touch with my Onc. today and see what she says. I really should have done this earlier. I guess the last thing I wanted to deal with was another shot :faint: .

They are giving Rich the Hep A before another round of Chemo. You get a series of two six months apart which makes it good for 20 years, One shot gives you coverage for a year. I have to go get my second shot next month. What the heck....the insurance is paying for it in full.:cool1: :cool1: Doctor wanted us to get it.:(

Sounds like fun...........but in a much smaller scale. :woohoo: Just think of all the extra traffic now.:worried: :worried: :worried:

good morning all!! just got back from taking my youngest ds to his last day of preschool. hard to believe how time flies! it was a fast school year for him...and me! i can't believe there will be no more preschool kids for me!!
hope everyone has a great day!

This is a big mielstone in your life Shannon!!:dance3: :dance3:

think UPGRADE!!!!!pixiedust: pixiedust:

I would like a Cat 4. I have never had one!!!:worship: :worship:

No, but if we miss it, we'll never hear the end of it. All three of our boys live for legos. I can't think of the last birthday or Christmas where they didn't at least get one lego set. All 3 already have the new Lego Indiana Jones DS or PSP games. I've heard it's geared more for the younger kids and not much for adults, but the kids could spend all day just looking at the lego creations. Our DS10 even checked a book out from the library that featured many of the lego creations at Legoland California. He told me that he'd rather visit Legoland than Disneyland (what heresy!)

It is a do at least once type of place! When we went which was 5 years ago, the park was just looking a little aged. BUT, they had the coolest little lego town, I bet the boys will LOVE that!

My FI and I went a few years ago with a friend and her son. We had a good time, but it's not like DL where you can be any age and have a good time. It is really built for younger kids (maybe 16 bordering on too old). But it was fun. And I heard on the news today that they are opening Sealife Aquarium in August. It'll be next door to the park, but I'm not sure if you have to pay a separate admission. A must ride at the park is the one where you are the swordi n a duel! It's fun. :)

Thanks, Roger.

But, you say no luck with that, eh? I have had pretty good luck doing that at WDW when I call first thing in the AM for parties of 2 or 3 with some of the sought after restaurants (Brown Derby, Lecellier).

The restaurants at DL and CA are very popular and there aren't so many that there would be enough ressies for everyone in the park on any given day. A lot of people plan ahead and people staying in the resort hotels get priority ressies. Good luck!

From thread #9:
To dahuffy – I'm checking on military discounts on DL tickets. I'll let you know.

I don't remember who it was that knew someone on America's Got Talent - but if it's the baton twirller Jonathan in Chicago that you know, I happened to catch the segment of the show that he was in last night. I TIVOd it if you want a copy of it. :) Is his mom a DIS'er? She was wearing a bright DIS green sweater! :yay: BTW....he made it to Vegas!
