I know there were more people, but my DS8, Buckifan's DH and Christopher (KSDisneydad) come to mind.

Debi, With respect to bacon, I'm not a huge fan. I was involved in the discussions earlier this year about the bacon scrum only because of the gout comments. Although the allipurinol lets me eat more types of foods, I still stay away from the really bad foods for gout. For the TOAL, I'm just bringing more anti-inflammatories as I intend to eat quite a bit of foods I shouldn't!!

I couldn't find the bacon scrum discussions using search, but did find these two quotes from Threads 6 and 7 with it mentioned:

I'm going to "stumble" upon DIS next week at work and then come home and show him. ;) Hopefully he believes me!

And how will you explain your prior posts? You may want to think this one through.

One suggestion is to wait till the next thread starts (my guess - tomorrow or tuesday) then "find us" and introduce yourself "Hi, my wonderful fiance just told me... we are .... blah blah blah"

I was going to say the same thing as Tom about waiting for the next thread. I assume you're going to change your username as well to avoid someone searching all of your previous posts.

My family will be heading down to South Carolina later this week.

Last month my cousin lost her husband. Last night she lost her dad. He had a heart attack while at a BBQ in SC. His wife (my mom’s sister) keeps saying she just buried her son-in-law, now she has to bury her husband.

Once again our whole family is in shock. No one expected this.

My aunt and uncle were married for 38 years. I can’t imagine her without him.

How tragic. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for thinking of me last week everyone....

I am surviving so far... (yeah no tall buildings to jump off of in Fredneck)

I am having lunch tomorrow with some peeps from my old office...

We'll see if going back there is a possibility...

I know i need to find something though... It makes it hard to even look being this close to the trip...

I feel doomed.... :sad2: (and not being able to cancel stinks too... since trip insurance won't cover a job loss that is under 3 years)

I might have to stay away from here for awhile.... I'm just not feeling the excitement...

Hang in there! I am sorry to hear about the job..something wonderful will turn up!

I'm curious what the "really bad foods for gout" are. My mom has had a few episodes of gout over the last year or so. I'll share any foods or treatment ideas with her.

I hope things get better for you very soon and a new door opens up something wonderful!! I hope you stay close to the boards and we can help boost you up a bit during these tough times!

DH has had gout for years and has had no episodes since he started on the allupurinol. He's been taking it for over 7 years. He has never had any side effects - AND IT IS CHEAP!! His doctor told him to stay away from tomato sauce, beer and shellfish. But, thanks to the RX even with paying no attention to his diet, he had been symptom free.

Basically, anything "rich" or high in purines. That's why it was called the disease of kings for centuries. The worst foods are organ meats (liver, gizzards, etc.) and things like sardines or anchovies. Next on the list is alcohol, especially beer. Items high in fat such as bacon, red meats, etc. are also bad. I've also heard that aged cheeses are not good.

Other than medicine that reduces your uric acid level in your blood, the best prevention is to cut back on proteins and other foods high in purines. I've also heard that black cherry concentrate works well for some, but I still episodes while drinking it everyday. I was getting to a point where I was having an episode about every 4 to 6 weeks, so the doctor finally gave me allipurinol to help out. I had one episode right after starting on it, but it was a lower dose and I still had a slight flareup when I started taking it. Since then, I've been flare-up free (about 3 months)!!!

That's good to hear! It is cheap and although I'm usually horrible about remembering to take medicine, this is one I absolutely never forget to take!!

He already knows that I have "found" this board, but I didn't tell him what the site is, so....I was planning on creating a new account once the newest thread is started and then I'll tell him what the site is! ;)

On your 25th Anniversary! (that's what we did anyway).
Great idea! Maybe I'll never take the veil off. :)

Then you'll have to wear it into the Main Dining Room on the 2nd night too!
Of course and maybe the third and fourth and fifth....nights as well!

Hang in there. God will bring the right job your way. :grouphug: for you!

I had just about every man in our neighborhood yelling at me to get down off our roof when I was hanging Christmas lights while pregnant with DS8. DH just shrugged.

Our husbands must be brothers under the skin or something. He had the same reaction to my being on a horse. :confused3 They probably knew better than to try and stop us. :rotfl:

Good idea.

I thought so. We'll have it posted on the back of the door or something.

Well, I've had enough to be "interesting" since I was about 23. I've been coloring my hair its 'natual' color since I was 19. DH tried to talk me into going grey. It's not good. I lasted about 4 months and colored my hair this afternoon!

I think its a thing of having your age catch up with the amount of gray you think you should have. If you got that much - I expect you'll be coloring your hair for some time. ;)

We've been struggling to get DD14mo to eat, too. She just won't have anything to do with most finger/table foods.

When I was about that age I refused to take a spoon, and didn't want to use the fingers either. I was going to manage that spoon or not eat. DM, in a panic asked the pediatrician about it. He shrugged and told her to give me the spoon, "she's not going to starve herself". ;)

The banner is 5ft x 3ft. Esteri sent me a link to the PhotoShop image file (75MB+) so it prints nice :-)

I think she posted where to get it a few weeks ago.

Actually, it's on an FTP site. If anyone wants the logon and password, send me a PM.

WA Mini-Meet? July 18-20

Yeah, I know the WA folks just had one a few weeks ago, but is anyone up for another??

I'm suggesting the Pacific Science Center on Sunday July 20. AND...

Anyone who would like to visit us up at The Woods for an outdoors adventure is welcome for Friday and/or Saturday night. Mom and Dad have penciled it in... they LIVE to entertain up there. Trust me, it's NO trouble to host a crowd. :rotfl2: There's additional bed space for about 6. Beyond that, we're looking at the floor of the Bunkhouse or Barn, tents, or bring your own camper.

The Woods is on South Cle Elum ridge just outside the town of Cle Elum. (First town east of Snoqualimie Pass on I-90.)

In any case, we'll be in both places The Woods and PSC, so come to one, both, or neither - depending on what you can manage.

Here's the view from the hot tub at The Woods - just to tempt you up there. :thumbsup2

Yes, Tom - I know the thread is on the Pirate Zone board! I was just hoping someone would volunteer to compile a list so M & I don't have to :) It's not a huge project (just the couple pages on the VVVVV thread and looking through today's posts in case someone posted here that isn't over there) and I was hoping someone would have a little time to take it on.

Pamela

Can't go through the thread, but I've already updated the first post of the PZ thread with those that volunteered.

K I feel for you. What should be the one of the happiest times in your life and you can't enjoy it  You are a strong person and you will make it through this, it is only going to take time. We will be here for you if you need us.

Our crack crew of wenches and swabbies have been working hard to come up with a challenge worthy of this group of pirates. We have accumulated an extensive list of buried treasures and have changed the game a bit. We have gone to a point system where you will be given a fairly large list of items that could be photographed with your team, each with a point value depending on how difficult they are. This will let everyone have fun in either finding a bunch of easy treasures (for lower points) or going after those really difficult ones for the big points. We are still planning on having it on the day after Aruba around 10:30am. We are still going to limit the hunt to about an hour so we call all enjoy lunch. The list is too long in my opinion for anyone to try to get all of the treasures so there will be some tactical thinking about what treasures you can accomplish. This should be alot of fun for everyone.

Do you want one?
Here is what you need to do!
Thanks. Sent my PM. But will have to update once we get a cabin assignment.
We should all have buttons/stickers saying I know the bride. :) Last cruise a bride to be posted with the somewhat large group...not quite this big but 250+ people total. Her fiance wasn't quite sure what to think at the terminal. She had arranged for us to be on decks 8 and 9 overlooking secret deck7 for the ceremony to take pictures and blow bubbles afterwards.
Oh how fun. And what a wonderful memory, for everyone.

I'm sure you'll pick us out of the crowd though - my bridesmaids got me a white wide-brimmed hat and attached a veil to it. I'm not taking the veil off until we get on board. When else can you walk around with a veil attached to your hat!?! :)
I think you should wear the veil the whole cruise! Isn't that what newlyweds do with the bride/groom ears at WDW, wear them the whole trip?

I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has been working so hard on planning the extra things for this cruise. You have all put in a lot of time and effort and my family truly appreciates it. All of the extras just help to make the trip that much more special. Please accept a big thank you on behalf of all of my family.
DITTO!

I haven't been on much until now. But I (we) truly appreciate all the planning everyone has taken on to make this cruise so special.

DD does like to "use" a spoon. But she doesn't really get much into her mouth yet. And she gets tired/bored after about 5 attempts. So for now she's gotta be mommy/daddy fed. But we'll keep trying...

:welcome: aboard to all the newbies..

Happy Birthday and Anniversary to all we have missed

G'mornin' pirate:s

SIX grumbly Mondays until TOAL.

I'm joining you, M!

Dh just took ds and dd to grandma's house (mil). Dd will be back on Tuesday eve and ds will be back on Friday. Dd can't make it away from home very long, and she starts to miss me too much. At least that's what she says. I think the truth is she misses playing with her friends. ;)

My mil just lives across town, and finally retired last week. This will be the first "extended" sleepover the kids have had. She is a fantastic grandma, and this was one of the things she was most looking forward to about retirement.

I recommend a glass of wine and a chick flick.

OMG!!!! I remember the camera had to be braced on a shoulder!!! :sad2: We got a smaller too but it took cassettes which had to be put into a VHS adapter. Now we got mini DVD without the hard drive so we don't have to carry a computer too!!:headache:

On my family's first trip to WDW, 1984, my dad lugged around a huge shoulder-braced camera attached to a VCR is a shoulder case. The batteries alone had to weigh 15 lbs.

HEY M!?

Did you get my email and pm?

Chrissie

Yup, I just haven't had a chance to wade through everything and respond.
Well, I've had the chance, just not the motivation.

They were circling by our house last year too & we ran inside & watched them fly over the esplanade. Last year there were about 5, but this year there was only 2. It was really loud when they buzzed the crowd. Taylor got a great video of them on her phone.

Fuel prices.
Seriously.

I have to say, that will probably be the one & only time we head in to town for the fireworks. I told the kids I thought it would be a nice treat to see such a great fireworks show & Cade said, "Next time you want to treat us, bring us for an icecream!" I said, "But weren't those fireworks great?" And you will all appreciate this response...."Disney's are better!" Spoken like a true Disney Fan!!! :goodvibes

That's really why we don't kill ourselves to make it to 4th fireworks. We see Wishes at least once a year.

I bought a skull & bones flag on the side of the road a few months ago & I'm going to attempt to add Elvis Stitch to it.

OH that willl be cool!

I don't remember how much the tolls are on the Beachline (528) but, if you choose to use the 417 you will get on from the Beachline (Beeline) around the airport. I just checked my sun pass account and the last time we used the 417 from Disney to the airport there were two $1 tolls and one 75 cent toll. I'm not sure if entering from the Beachline if there is one additional toll. The road has a lot of tolls but it is so much less stressful. The last cruise we left the port and used the Beachline then the 417 and it took us less than an hour to get to WDW. The only problem on the 417 is that at the exits the toll booths are unmanned -- so it is either pass or exact change. Make sure you have quarters. I think the last toll exiting at Disney is either 50 or 75 cents.

This may sound confusing if you have any other questions you can PM me. Right now I'm not at home but after 7/26 I will be and can ask DH since he is usually the one driving.

Barbara

We got caught at an unmanned toll booth once. Not good.

Oh, and watch out for highway patrol between PC and WDW. :rolleyes1

Thanks Chrissie! this cruise is going to be so special!

I am taking a new approach these last 38 days at work. I had a very relaxing week off and read a "great" article in the Continental Magazine about being over worked and how Supervisors/Managers become uneffective and performance is ranked poor by employees. This really hit home and I can put myself right in that article for the last 2 years. I do now have a team lead to assist me on a daily basis - but her 1st job is to train 2 new employees. I have to hire 2 more positions as well. Starting tomorrow morning at 8 am I will be taking my "breaks" and my lunch away from my desk. more than likely I will be taking my laptop to work to organize us for the cruise. Create more magnets and once my FE gifts come in - assemble.

Have a great week everyone!

WAIT A MINUTE!! Where can people eat lunch besides their desk??? I'm so confused.

And how will you explain your prior posts? You may want to think this one through.

I would be happy to take on making a list...is this something I still have time to do before the deadline for the printer (I forgot the date!) ..let me know and I will be happy to put it together.

If you are interested in donating your verandah:

I will keep an eye on the list on the PZ ...you can also send me a PM...please also let me know how you will let others know if your are open for visitors...do you have a set time or if you will just have the door open.

Thanks!

Thanks!

If anyone is interested in a patch...they will be generic..it is a treasure map. It can be used for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts or just someone who likes patches.

I am talking with the company to see if my wording fits (I am over a few letters)

I am trying for the phrase "Magical Cruise 2008"

The patches are $2 each and you can pay me at the ship when you get your patch...I need to have an order of a min of 30 to order them and right now..we are only at 10///I want to order them this week. Please PM if you are interested.

Note to self.

Ditto - you guys are an awesome bunch! THANKS for all you do!!!

We just got back from Ohio yesterday and there is no way I can go back 50+ pages! SO...........I took my chances and just went back 10 pages :)

We had a good trip to Ohio..............my mom lives in West Salem Ohio, very small town. There is a fireworks store about 2 houses down from where my moms lives. DH had to go check it out and spent WAY TOO MUCH $$ on fireworks. BUT, we did have a nice display in the back yard on July 4th. On Saturday night around 9pm, the same fireworks place went up in flames and we got the fireworks display of our lives...........it was spectacular. This same store burnt down just 2 years ago........not sure if they will rebuild again.

Special hugs to all who need them......

Everyone have a great week!
