The wheelchair is a good idea, so that way she gets to and from the airplane OK. My 80+ yo mom flies once in a while to visit me and she's visually impaired, so I always worry about her getting to where she's supposed to be. A couple of other things to keep in mind ...... Once at the correct gate, she needs to keep listening for info about gate changes (happened to my mom once and she almost missed the plane) and obvious delays. Also, what would you want her to do if her flight was cancelled and she needed to be re-booked on another flight - would she know what to do?? You might talk these over with her in advance so there are no surprises. I've had zero luck getting to take mom to the gate or meet her - but that's at Dulles so it may just be security here. In the future I"m considering paying to have her treated as an "unaccompanied minor" - I've heard you can do that for elderly, altho I haven't tried to do that myself. That would essentially be insurance that if the trip didn't go as planned, she'd be taken care of. HTH and good luck!
