77 degrees...too cold for blizzard beach?

We are a water skiing family. Our cutpoint to ride around the lake in our suits is 74 degrees. 77 should be nice enough to enjoy the park.

I would say it depends where you are from. I'm from the frozen tundra of Cleveland.... for us that is PERFECT, even without sun. For someone that is used to a warmer climate, it may be a bit chilly.

We keep the water in all the slides and pools around 80F (27C) except for Shark Reef which does not have filters, pumps or heaters. What you want is a day that will be bright and sunny and preferably not windy.

If you go on a day that is heavily overcast you will not be able to take advantage of any radiant heating (from the sun) or on a windy day (especially with a dry wind from the North) you will get hit by wind chill.

But a day with the highs in the mid-50s or above which is sunny and calm most people (at least from Northern climates) should be comfortable.

From my experience the past few months of living here and the weather...the key is the wind. It can be in the 70's but if the wind is blowing it makes it feel much much cooler than 70. So I'd check out the wind conditions a few days in advance and plan it that way. That's also why a lot of people FREEEZE at the parks because during the day if it's a little breezy it's not SOOO bad, but at night when the sun goes down and the breeze lingers...it's a nightmare if you're ill-prepared.

It is 30* here today with a winter storm comming our way that is suppose to dump about 4-6 inches of snow on us!:scared1:  With that said...77* is a freekin heat wave and PLENTY warm for the water parks imho of course!;)

If it's sunny, I say no problem. We did Blizzard Beach on a 75 degree day but the wind made it a MISERABLE trip. The water was freezing eventhough they SAY it's 80 degrees. If the wind is really blowing, I say that would be a "no go".

I'm from Scotland and 77 degrees would be a heatwave for us. :D

Just a thought, being avid divers and Jetskiers we can extend the season by wearing sorty wetsuits, If you are inclined and determined to go to a water park. We wore shorty wetsuits many years ago and did draw some attention from some cast members regarding the zippers, however they cleared us after seeing that the zippers get covered by a velcro closure. that same trip we saw hundreds of womens and mens suits that has zippers and buttons, apparently WDW is concerned about scratching the slides, so certainly check the rules again

What some folks don't realize is that despite water temp being 80 degrees our bodies are still 98 or so dgress so there is still a considerable heat loss, I second everyones opinion, it's up to the individual but i certainly wouldn't want to blow a day on my hopper to find out it was too cold to have fun...My $.02
