What are you buying them for Christmas?

My granddaughter just turned 7 in September.. She loves to draw and is really into fashion designing (she has the two Barbie computerized fashion programs)..

Suggestions?

My DD is 9 and really wants Dream Life.

Okay - what's "Dream Life"?

Can you tell I don't pay attention to the toy commercials? :teeth:

My 6 year old is getting a portable DVD player, some puzzles, some games, a gym membership to a kiddie gym, Radio City Christmas show tickets, lanyard kit, Cinderella DVD, Earings, Harry Potter books on CD, and I am sure I will buy her a few more things....

My daughters would have LOVED to receive ANY kind of art supplies (still would, actually...): You could put together an art kit of drawing paper, lightweight watercolor paper, colored pencils, watercolor set, pastels, markers, maybe even a "how to draw"-type book. I saw a "how to draw Mickey Mouse" book a couple of weeks ago at Michaels.

My younger DD also liked getting her own scrapbooking stuff, like fancy scissors, punches, stickers, an album, etc.

And both my girls LOVE getting books. I could recommend quite a few, if you're interested in going that route.

Girls are so much fun to buy for. Myself, I prefer to buy things for them to do with their hands, rather than anything computer-driven. They love getting those things from their uncles though!

DD 7 is crazy about American Girl. She already has one doll and my mother is getting her another one for Christmas. I'm sure I'll be getting her stuff from there.

Another vote for American Girl stuff. Art supplies, junie b jones books, board games like Guess Who/Guess Where or Uno Attack.

dover publications- www.doverpublications.com
has lots of books on fashion -paper dolls, sticker paper dolls -how to draw books on many different subjects
Most things are less than 5 dollars
type how to draw in the search

My daughter is 6 and loves art supplies. She also loves craft kits from Michaels. Most of the ones she likes are ones where mom gets to help but they are fun. The only ones we don't get are these little beads that you put in this grid then iron to melt them together. That is just not a fun project.

DD7 has mentioned several times she wants the Polly Pocket bead/jewelry maker (put it on layaway today). She's also getting a ticket to see the Rockettes, walkie talkies to share with her brother, Leap Frog Twist and Shout math and multiplaction (she loves math), and I think that's about it for now.

Another vote for American Girl and any art stuff but especially the kits that they have at Michaels. Also if she really likes art maybe you could look into art lessons. My dd who is almost 7 just started and loves them. Also she wants the Star Station and Doodle bear.

trying to post link, but not getting it right, try google while I try to link the crazy thing!!

Thanks for the ideas! I'm definitely going to check out the craft kits at Michaels and ACMoore.. I know she would love some of those fancy scrapbook scissors - she got pretty excited when she saw mine.. :)

Where would I find out about art lessons? My DD and I have discussed that in the past because she's really quite talented for her age..

Anyone know of any other Barbie fashion design things?

The link went through fine.. :) That looks like something that might interest her.. Those aren't Bratzs on there though, are they? If so, my DD would prefer she not have it..

My 7 year old niece loves any kind or arts or crafts thing too. I bought her a bunch of different kits and what not from Michaels for her birthday and she loved them. For Christmas I bought her an Easy Bake oven and some refill kits.

I do not let my daughter have any of the bratz dolls either....one of the other kids mom asked her if she wanted a bratz doll for her birthday and she said "I am not allowed to have them, they look like little streetwalkers"....she has NO clue what a streetwalker is but she has heard me say that that is the reason that I don't like them LOL! Some of those skirts are so short its obscene..I do NOT want my daughter thinking that that is the way that girls should be dressing.

Are you my DD? LOL I think you just pretty much summed up the way she feels about them.. :teeth:

I keep my nose out of any decisions they make in regards to her.. I have to live with them part-time - or stay up here in the mountains and FREEZE... :rotfl:

Many of the items on DD7's list has been already said, but I'll add

DVD: Herbie Fully Loaded. camera.
