7 month booking question

Hi -

I plan on booking VWL for March 2013, in August. We plan on staying 9 nights. To get the 2 bedroom we want, I need to combine all of my points from my three home resorts (VWL, BWV and SSR). Now, I know since I'm a VWL owner, if I had all of the points available with VWL, I could book today. My plan is on the first day of the 7 month window book all 9 nights, the last two using my home resort priority. Can I do this as one reservation online, or do I need to call? I'm just trying to figure this out.

Thanks!

I would have booked at 11 months using my VWL points as many days as I could, I would also borrow VWL points. At 7 months I would book the remaining days and link the reservations.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I had a follow-up on this question.

Do you get the same 7 month + 7 days booking opportunity that you do at 11 months? I though you did, but then I was reading my booking window and it says (using today as example):
Home Resort: You can book your arrival as far out as August 2, 2013 for a stay up to August 9, 2013.

Non-Home Resort: You can book your arrival as far out as April 2, 2013.

So, specifically points out the +7 on 11 months but not for 7 months. Just assuming that's just short-hand writing and the +7 also exists at 7 months.

Also, related to this thread, "linking" a reservation - what does that really do? I've tried to to that several times and every cast member has said you can't. We've had multiple stays where we were at the same resort in the same booking category with different reservations (either due to wait lists coming through, adding days on one side or the other, etc.) and were told this wasn't possible. Obviously, we want to do it for the ease of assuring we don't have to check out and check back in.

Thanks all!

Yes, you get the same +7 with non home resorts at 7 months.

Regarding linking - it used to make your reservation seemless, just like you had booked everything at once.

With the new system it doesn't seem to work as well but reservations can still be linked if the room booked is the same resort and exact same size and view. But from reports the resorts can't seem to get the system to not require you to get new keys. Hopefully they'll get back the functionality that they used to have. :(

If you've booked under the same membership then MS seems to be able to combine it into one reservation so linking may only be necessary across multiple memberships now. We have a reservation like that in Dec and I'm guessing we'll have to get new keys but at least it should allow us to stay in the same room.

We have two different membership numbers. We booked seven nights with one, two nights with the other. I sent an e-mail to Member Services with both reservation numbers and asked that they be linked. I received a message back that the two stays would be linked and seamless.

When you link the reservations will you typically get to stay in the same room for the entire stay?

That is at we were told by Member Services in our e-mail message back.

I would call back and ask them if there is a way to combine under one reservation number to ensure that its recognized as one continuous stay. They did this for my upcoming trip when it was booked piecemeal.

Good luck!
