7 days of Deluxe Dining...full reviews with lots of pics!!! UPDATED w/ link to TR!

Love your oldest daughter's b-day t-shirt! My big girl will be turning 7 during our trip that starts in mid-August. Can I ask where you found the shirt? I'd much rather do that than doll her up in hot, scratchy princess wear that day!
Thanks, P

I actually bought it at consignment, but it's Old Navy brand. I believe Gymboree carries (or did at one time) a very similar shirt. I bet if you looked on eBay you would find some for sale.

Phew! I just read all your reviews and now I'm starving. You've covered several of the places we are trying next month. I was espcecially glad to see the tips about Tusker House. We have an 8:00am ADR too.:goodvibes

I have been trying for months to get in there (during free dining no less) and after reading this review I called again and we are IN!!

great reviews... thank you again... i'm thinking we may add HBD due to your review... dh was asking to include it but i was "afraid" to possibly "waste" two credits on it... but after your review, i just might have to! :)

thanks again and i'm looking forward to your trip report :)

Thanks very much for sharing your excellent reviews. Your girls are just adorable :goodvibes

Great dining report!! Thanks for all the reviews, specifically Brown Derby. We have an ADR there in Jan per my DH's request and I was somewhat doubtful about it, especially for 2 credits. I'm actually looking forward to it now after reading your review though!!

Wow, I go out of town for 4 days and you finish your reviews :worship: so I just spent the morning getting caught up :) Excellent reviews! :thumbsup2

Brown Derby is our absolute favorite restaurant on property! When we were there in June they had just replaced the filet with a NY Strip. We've had fantastic meals and service there every single time and we go every trip now  DS11 swears by their hotdogs on the kids menu, he even had the Chef come out to our table so he could compliment it last time :rotfl: I'm not surprised at all that they tried so hard to please your daughter, they've always gone above and beyond when we've been there. One night DD 14 ordered their roasted chicken (we had one of the last seatings) well, our waitress came out apologizing that they had run out  She convinced DD to try to roasted pork rib chop and promised her the sides that went with the chicken and told her if she didn't like it, they'd find something else for her. Well, she took one bite of that pork and a foodie was born! I only got a tiny bite (she wasn't sharing) and it melted in my mouth. Incredible! :cloud9: On another trip, DD surprised her brother with a phone call. Ask when you make your adr or when you check in. Our server came up to DS at the table and told him there was an important phone call for him. If you're seated at a booth, they'll bring the phone to the table and plug it in there (just like in the old days at the original Brown Derby). His phone call was from Goofy. It was really cool :cool1:

I'm looking forward to trying CP dinner, we had breakfast there years ago but dinner is looking pretty good.

Tonga Toast is YUMMY! First had it on my honeymoon (many many years ago) DH makes it for me every year on my birthday

After reading all of this, I'm very hungry now. Thanks for the great reviews and the link to your trip report (I'll be stopping by soon) :goodvibes

Thanks for an excellent report. Your pictures had me drooling on my keyboard.

subscribing to this great thread - thanks for all of your hard work

Thanks for the great reviews. I just booked our April/May 2009 trip to the Poly with the deluxe dining plan.

Thursday, July 24th ~ Hollywood Brown Derby dinner

And I had the Hijiki Crusted Ahi Tuna seared "rare" with sesame long beans, pickled diakon, soy and wasabi sauces.

I had some delicious things throughout my stay, but when I bit into this, I truly felt I had died and gone to heaven! The tuna was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was UNBELIEVABLE!!!! It definitely contained soy and wasabi, 2 of my favorites (as sushi is my absolute favorite food, other than ice cream). I ate every last little morsel of this and sopped up the sauce as well. AMAZING!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the review of the tuna! I have been dreaming about this since before our LAST trip to WDW in 2005 when I just could not get a table at HBD. I have halfway convinced myself that it will never live up to the hype I've built for it in my brain but your review is making me feel better about that.

Also, thanks for sharing that they will make the Cobb for 1. DH wants it but I don't and I had resigned myself to being stuck with it. I plan to order the same app. you did. That crab cake looks amazing!

And finally, thanks for the DxDP review. DH and I are doing DxDP on our December trip and I have a few of the same places lined up. Your Tusker House review makes me think I should change to there.

Subbing in....great report. I've gotten through the first few pages. Can't wait to read the rest. Beautiful Girls!
