Now Leaving for WDW in 7 Days...All Aboard!!
For all of you who have the gift of being organized, doing spreadsheets, getting up super early on certain mornings to make special ADR's...I am bowing to you. I have a sister and sister-in-law who have this gift. Unfortunately I did not inherit this gene from my Mom's family. I take after my Dad's side alittle too laid back sometimes.
Since DH will already be in Orlando when I arrive, he will pick me up from at the airport and retrieve our rental car. This is an example of how our conversations go when trying to make a decision as a couple who have been together for almost 30 yrs.
DH: (Fran).. "when I pick you up at the airport should I wait for you to call me on your cell phone after you land and then I will just pick up the rental car and drive around the airport 72 times so I can pick you up at the curb, throw your bags in and have you jump in the car and speed away like Jeff Gordan on Pit Road? Or.....just get a taxi from the condo I'm leaving from that morning, have the cab driver drop me off where the luggage carousel (sp) is for SW? Then we can cross the street together were the parking ramp is and pick up the rental car together?"
Me: (Sue) " I don't care honey what ever is convenient for you. It really doesn't matter to me either way."
Now first of all my husband is 6'2" and a former athlete who is still in semi good condition. He will be carrying on his own person, 1 large rolling duffle bag, his carry on, his labtop (for work during the week) and his lovely set of golf clubs. When we finally connect with one another he will drop all of his things and I will run into his arms and get a great big hug and kiss. NOT!!!!
My husband is a gentlemen and a gentleman, but he is not huge into showing displays of effection in public. No problem...his eyes tell me all. Plus I'M IN FLORIDA GOING TO WDW. Sorry I digress, I will have one piece of semi small piece of luggage and small carry on and purse. So we then start discussing his golf clubs.
DH: (Fran) "Or...should I leave the golf clubs at the condo (with his friends) and then go back and pick them up on the way to the Cont. Resort or should I bring them with me when I come to pick you up?"
Me: " I don't care honey whatever is easier for you" (although I'm really thinking why don't you skip the golf trip all together and we would'nt be having this discussion, especially since our trip was planned last fall.) "I can walk across the street, I've done it before." (do you think I'm alittle passive aggressive?)
DH: (Fran) who is now looking down at his labtop. "Hey Sue, I just got a cheaper rate on the rental care. We'll decide later what we'll do when its time for me to pick you up at the airport."
Me: "O.k. honey, like I said whatever is easier for you,"(BECAUSE I'M GOING TO BE IN FLORIDA GOING TO WDW).
Exit me from the room. We will have this conversation at least ten more times before he leaves on tuesday morning and even the night before I arrive in Florida. I'm not kidding this is exactly how we are with one another. Because usually he is the one who is ultimately responsible for the most important parts of the trip, booking the flights, booking our rooms, getting our ADR's etc. This is what he enjoys doing to plan our trip to Disney. I'm not being a smarty, this is what he looks forward to after a hard day at work, or after shoveling 2 feet of snow in January. You get my point. I used to be an outside travel agent. This is what I used to do and got paid for it. But he loves it. He is a very good provider and he knows my likes and dislikes and it really doesn't take alot to please me. Please be assured that I do let him know if he is way off the mark on something. My Sicilian blood does rise from time to time and he definately knows when its happening. It just takes a look and a few slamming of the kitchen cupboards. Then we talk about it, maybe a little raising of MY VOICE, and then 5 minutes later its over. He has finally learned that I do move on and do not hold a grudge. Life is way to short for that!!!
Next is what we will do for Sunday morning, for church and for breakfast.
