Did anyone else see this???

I have just been browsing through a copy at the local take away and I was amazed by it :earseek: If anyone followed it I think they would need another holiday to recover.

I know it was only a 7 day holiday plan and they were trying to fit everything in but there were at least 2 occasions where they had you grabbing a fastpass for one ride before heading over to the other side of the park to do a ride while you waited for your return time. :faint: :faint:

I didn't actually see this article, but I've seen something similar before that was just as ridiculous. It was in an itinerary dreamt up in a travel agency Florida brochure I saw about two years ago - might have been JetSave or something like that.

Their bright ideas included a full day at Epcot on your first day including staying on for Illuminations - yeah, that's just what you need to get over your jet lag, a 12 hour day in a park! And as it's the one renowned for the amount of walking you have to do in it, I guess they want to give you a good start on your blisters too!

Admittedly, they decided to give you a rest on your second day - by sending you to Typhoon Lagoon. Great, so to add to those blisters from yesterday, they now want you to get all over sunburn as soon as possible - because as us experienced folk all know, you should NEVER go to a water park in your first few days, as unless you're used to the Florida sun, you'll burn to a crisp in minutes - leave it to your second week!

Then with these unlucky holidaymakers now red raw and in agony, they try to send them to Magic Kingdom on the third day - AT A WEEKEND! Are they mad?

The itinerary continued in much the same fashion for the next few days (I can't remember the rest unfortunately). Now if I was a novice to Florida and didn't know any better (and wasn't clued up enough to find these message boards), I'd probably be gulliable enough to believe my travel company knew what they were doing and follow their plan. I'd then come home having had a miserable holiday and wondering what all the fuss about Florida was!

Oh, I've just realised this might be a good thing... the more people they manage to burn out with this plan, the less likely they are to come back, the lower the crowds when I next go! Hey, good work people!!! :teeth:

I feel tired just thinking about this. I suppose it's aimed at people who think they won't go back and want to cram as much in as possible.Whereas we all know we will return :teeth:

The only thing I would say about waterparks is that these are one of our favourite things to do on Day 2. You've had your first tiring (but exciting) day in a park and are still possibly a little jetlagged so we like a nice day chilling at a WP. I definitely don't allow any sunburn though! Call me overcautious but in August I cover us in factor 35 to 40 and reapply frequently. None of my family ever get burnt :)

To be honest we always hit the theme parks as long and as much as possible on holiday. We are all fairly active people and can cope with these activities for a fortnight - no longer than that though. :) However, saying that we have always gone in February before when it has been cooler and less crowded. This year forced to go in July so more than likely we may struggle in the heat and humidity.

We have been in training for a year just to go back this year. :)

Same here and I also insist my two wear sun protection suits almost all the time we are swimming and (touch wood) they have not been burnt so far. The same can't be said for me

As for the Sun itinerary - are they mad :confused3

Yeah, but that's because you've been before and know these sorts of things! ;) First timers though typically don't think ahead like you or I.

From speaking to a number of Brits I've met while in Orlando and also hearing stories from some of my work colleagues on getting back from their first trips, I don't think people who say, go to the Med for a beach holiday most years, know just how INTENSE the Florida sun can be.

You can get away with a little bit of SPF 15 and lie on a sunbed for hours after hours over there very early in your holiday without problems - but try that in Florida and you'll not only look like a beetroot (and I've seen some pretty shocking photos of this :earseek: ) but probably not get a good night's sleep either, because every time you roll over in bed you'll be in absolute agony, no matter how much after-sun lotion you use.

Most of the first-timers I spoke to who went to a water park or went sunbathing in their first few days regretted it and wished they'd waited till later on (either their skin would have had time to adjust to the sun better, or maybe they'd have just realised to use better protection). Meanwhile, all those who by sheer luck happened to wait until their second week had no complaints!

Maybe it's because I burn easily that it's a subject close to my heart...

Totally agree Steve Rob, you can't be too careful can you?

How true Frances :teeth:
