This past April I took my wife and 2 young girls on our 1st Disney Cruise, a 7 day Eastern. Shortly after that they started with the 7 day Western. I'm planning to do this again next spring. I'd really appreciate any comments about how the 7 Day Eastern compares to th 7 day Western. I'm really interested in what the main differences are and who liked what about which cruise. Thank you.

Eastern in May
We were not impressed with St. Marteen last year but loved St. Thomas. Bad choice of excursion I think caused this. 3 days at sea were almost too much sitting around for us. We like to go and do.

Western in Sept.
Can you say hot. You did not dare to walk barefoot on deck. We loved Key West. It is post season for them right now and without the two ships in port it would have been a ghost town.
Grand Cayman is my new choice for favorite place on earth. I would like to stay there two days. We just shopped in Cozumel and really did not care for that experience. It is pretty much like any other sea port shopping area.

All of that rambling and I would say we will do the Western again in a cooler season probably May or Oct.

If you like a more laid back attmosphere with more sea days go for the Eastern again. On the Western you have departure day, Key West, Sea, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Sea, Castaway and then home. It goes fast.

Of course this is just the opion of two old people from SC. Take it for what it's worth.

Just to show how different people are, eastern 2001 - western 2002. Booked eastern 2003 because we liked that better. Key West was ok but nothing special - you can go there by car. A lot of weirdos at night, won't go into detail but I could of lend by formal attire (dress) to a lot of the opposite sex. Did not like Grand Caymen, not tropical like St. Thomas. Coszumel was great for beach and snorkling. We liked the bargains we got last year at St, Martin, GC was expensive. Also enjoyed the extra day at sea, especially since it was on Sunday, it was good to relax after rushing around getting on board Saturday.

In my opinion, watersports are better on the western, and shopping deals are better on the eastern...
