Traveling with hubby and kids ages 15 and 12 on the Dec 4 Western Caribbean cruise. Any tips for things to do, request, avoid?

Since you don't say where Yu are going or if you have been on other Disney ships, .it's a little hard to make recommendation. But magic is my fav ship, so...

If you like speciality coffee go to the cove cafe every morning...adults only ...order a latte or whatever. Ask for their drink card. Yu get a free coffee after five paid drinks. They also have good pastries..which is usually my breakfast. These are free. And there is a bookshelf in there with books you can borrow or put one in you have read and take out another. The cove cafe is a great place to sit if it's chilly and Yu want some tea. Or in the evening of you wild like a quiet place for a glass of wine.

Use the fitness center. It's very nice and has good equipment.

The sports deck is in the top deck and there is basketball court, ping pong, Etc. fun place to hang up with kids for an hour or so.

Check out the kids clubs. I don't think they can be in the same club by there are lots of fun thngs to do and kids to meet.

Ride the aqua dunk early and often.

Get a reservation for palo and let the kids have dinner with the servers in the main dining room. They will be treated very well. And the bar at palo is small...but the bartender is great and makes excellent martinis! Yu can go there without dinner reservations just to have a drink.

Try out the various family friendly venues before dinner...or maybe after depending on your dinner time. We always do late dinner, so we see the early show and then go for music or a game show before dinner. Then after dinner we head to an adult section and let the kids go to the clubs and hang out with friends.

Don't go to Cabanas for dinner and avoid the main dining rooms. Lots of people will tell you different. But we love the MDRs and getting to know the servers.

If the kids are having fun on their own, hang out in the cove area. There is music often, good bar, it's close to the cove cafe for coffee.

We rarely get lunch from cabanas and usually just get something from the grill or the healthier sandwich salad place on other side of kid pool. The pizza is also good.

We generally like the piano bar at night or dancing at the club. Adults only.

Thanks...I had wondered if they can go to dinner alone. Any suggestions for which night would be "worth" missing the MDR meal to do Palo?

Some people may discourage this but, I will mention it anyway. We also travel with two teenagers, and when there are four of you getting ready in the stateroom for dinner/shows, it can become cramped....even when you have a split bath....only one shower at a time. So, here is an alternative....you or hubby can go to the Spa Locker Rooms and take your showers there...they are even bigger than your stateroom shower.

If he's still serving in Palo, request Sylvester from India. If he's not and Kat from England is, request her.

Definitely go to Keys for cocktails at least once and try one of their signature concoctions.

Get the Shawarma - there's a station at the pool deck and it's only on the Magic. YUM!! I'm going on the Fantasy in February, and that is one thing I will miss from the Magic!

I second using the spa locker rooms to shower! You can use the sauna's and relax in the comfy lounge chairs for a while too. You can also use the robes and they allow you to take it back to your room to use.

Another Palo server recommendation is Victor from (I believe) Dominican Republic....he was fantastic! Make sure kids go to their respective clubs the first night of the cruise to make friends and help plan activities...they will have much more fun! Have shawarma at least once! Make an effort to dress up on either formal or semi formal night and get nice family pictures taken. Do not miss the Tangled show...it is really good. Super comfy lounge chairs right outside Cove Cafe are a great place to sit with coffee in the morning and watch the ship dock. The Magic I'd my favorite ship...have a great time!

We had a ball with Ritesh from India at Palo. Make sure you see Tangled! We saw it twice and loved it both times (2pm and 830).
We also loved Keys, beautiful Piano music.

If Clara Oman is performing on board in the lounges (specifically Keys), stop by and give a listen. She is a fantastic singer / piano player. I have been on board many times and never stopped in to listen. Finally earlier this year I did, and wow!! (I became a stalker), she is very sweet and entertaining with a wide range of musical tastes (Disney, Broadway, John Denver, Neil Diamond, etc, and her own music). Here's a link some youtube videos ... and if you want Disney Songs here are 12 songs in 25 minutes
