I was at the library today and a lady was telling me her family vacation is going to Busch Gardens VA, Williamsburg and Water Country with 7 day pass all for $100 per person :woohoo: I couldn't believe all that for 7 days so I hope we can go sometime in the future, never been before.

Edited: Sorry I just reread your post and it was Williamsburg!

I don't know which Busch Gardens you are interested in but watch their site. We purchased 14 day tickets good at BG, Aquatica and SeaWorld for $109 a person last April. All three parks were so much fun and felt like a value compared to Disney but a completely different experience so you really can't compare!

BG-Tpa, actually all the parks for Busch in Fl, have the Fun card. Not sure if its only residents... but if you buy a 1 day ticket, you get unlimited to that park the rest of the year.

Our BG tickets cost $70+tax. One f ours we opted for the annual pass as it has parking included.

I purchased these tickets off their website. We just went in July. It was only $69.95 a person with no tax. It is a great deal. We went to Busch Gardens like 4 times and the water park twice and my DS did it 3 times with a friend. I thought it was way too much but for the price, it was good. After the 2nd day there, I was bored. A week in Williamsburg is too much, especially in the heat. My DH who is handicapped had a hard time walking as it is all hills, with some of them steep. We also went the hottest week on record, which didn't help. I really have no interest in going back any time soon. I have had my fill. Now I can't say that about Disney - that is a different story. I think maybe Disney has spoiled us big time.

Kellydizfan, I think we may have been in Williamsburg the same week - we were there July 3 to the 10th. That was some ferocious heat!

Our family normally vacations at Disney in August, but VA was beyond what we have experienced in FL as far as heat. We actually came home a day early and heat was a big time contributor to that decision.

The ticket deals for the area are really super compared to Disney prices. We purchased the colonial area, BG, waterpark tickets which were $98 for adult tickets and child tickets were $82.

Couple of points that made this a really good deal.
-tickets are for unlimited park use for one week (essentially park hoppers)
-ticktes include unlimited parking at parks that have a parking fee
-kid tickets are for ages 6-17 (vs disney's 10 and up adult fee)
-kids under 6 are free!

We did have an enjoyable time. No, this was not disney (and we compared many things to Disney, trust me!), but it was a nice family trip at a very reasonable rate.

Things I recommend include a meal at a tavern in the colonial area (we really liked the King's Arms), the BG firewords show (very nice...comparable to Disney with music and all), the Irish dance show at BG, and if you have small kids the Elmo meal - really, really well done when we attended (surpassed many of the Disney character meals and we have done them all numerous times).

Last thing I would recommend because it was something we really loved - rent a cabana at the water park. The cost was $170 and worth every penny! In comparison to other places that rent cabanas, this is really reasonable and it includes 8 towels (yours to keep), 16 drinks (kept cold on ice in your cabana all day..water, pepsi, diet pepsi, mountain dew), and sunscreen.

We enjoyed this so much that we actually splurged and did this two days. It was a great place to hang out, read, and play games in between water play. Our family spent two entire days at the water park from open to close...not something we would do without the cabana. They were very relaxing and fun days...in fact I am pretty sure those were the favorite days for all of us of the whole trip.

We were in Williamsburg the 25-31. VERY hot. We got the tickets for 69.95 too so great deal but OMG the food is SO expensive!!!!! There were 11 of us, 7 being children. I said I won't complain about Disney prices again for food! :)

I agree with Kellydizfan, you can do BG and WaterCounty in about 3 days. We do it in 1. I live about 30 mins from BG and we have season passes. We did BG about 3 times this year. But the price is AWESOME I would suggest that you try some of the other things in the area like: The Outlet Mall (10 min away), President's Park (15 min away), and The free parts of the Historic Buildings. Have fun. I love the area and I live here. :thumbsup2

We bought the same tickets for our June trip. Great value!!

We had lunch at Chownings Tavern. Huge disappointment. Nothing but sandwiches on the menu and very pricey. My kids wanted to eat in a tavern and this was what was available at the time. Never again.

We found Colonial W'bg interesting during the reinactment stuff. After that was over, we found it to be painfully boring.

We liked Busch Gardens...it was clean and a very pretty park. We found it small, though, and were done by 5pm. We arrived a half hour before opening. We bought the food vouchers (the gold ones) and we saved about $2 by buying them (but we probably would not have purchased dessert with our meal). We could have shared meals. The portion sizes (germany) were quite big.

The Irish dance show was fantastic. We were chosen to sit right up by the stage...what a neat experience!!

We LOVED Water Country. LOVED it. My kids could have floated along in that Hubba Hubba Highway all day long! The park is clean and very well laid out. Very attractive too...lots of vegetation. We would have liked to do this for two days, but we only had three days for touring.

If you buy meal vouchers, they can be used in either park. I had bought BG ones, and had a kids meal voucher left over. I asked at Water Country if I could use it, and was told no problem.

It was a very nice trip...I'd go down again, but probably skip CW....

LOL Oh we all really loved the Hubba Hubba Highway also! We joked that our local pool needed to add one of these. We spent lots of time floating around that highway!
