I wanted an ADR at Chef Mickeys at 5pm but the best the AAA agent could get us was 7:40 pm. Is that a good time ? Any advantage or disadvantage to being there that late ?

Thanks !

We had a 7:50 PM ADR on 8/24. I tried for weeks beforehand to change the time, and even tried while in Orlando, to no avail. We checked in at 7:45, we still had to wait until nearly 8:25 to be seated. Luckily there are several stores near by loaded with Disney merchandise to browse through. Once we got seated and went up to the buffet, I noticed that some serving dishes were either out of the food, had really been picked through or had seriously dwindled and not been refilled. Even when leaving, I noticed a couple were still not refilled. We had never been there before, and weren't really thrilled with the experience. It honestly was the worst service (SLOW) that we had at our 6 character meals on the trip. It was also the least interactive place of any of the characters. They seemed very rushed. I'd like to try it for breakfast one day to see if that's a better time to visit Chef Mickey's. They did have lots of ADR's available for different breakfast times.

I find the later we go to Chef Mickey's, the less I enjoy it (actually, that goes for any buffet). We always go before 5:30p to ensure the food is hot and the buffet is not in shambles. If you can't get any other time, I would still go. Chef Mickey's is lots of fun for everyone!

Last August, we decided in the morning to call and make reservations for Chef Mickey's for dinner - they gave us a 7:40 PS. We were seated in about 10 minutes (was still crowded at that point), but by the time we left, there were only a few families in there and we practically had the characters all to ourselves - each one came around 3 or 4 times and the interaction was one of our favorite memories from our trip. Chip took my very shy DD4's drink and was pretending to drink it. The look on her face was priceless (I got it on video). My DD7 got up to give Mickey a hug and he started ballroom dancing with her (Minnie got jealous). We were able to get lots of pictures - I don't know if we would have gotten that much attention if we were there earlier when it was more crowded. We had a fabulous time!

we had 7:30 Chef Mickey ADRs last saturday night and ds was not feeling up to snuff so we opted out of going to the park that day and just headed over to Chef Mickeys just before 5pm... we got on the (long!) line of people waiting to get in, and when we were asked if we had "reservations" (i was very tempted to correct the CM and tell her no one has "reservations" we have priority seating or advanced dining reservations LOL) and i said we did, but not 'til 7:30, was there any way they could squeak us in early and they were MORE THAN HAPPY to accommodate us... despite the long line, there were not a lot of filled tables and we had a ton of character interaction... at one point we had BOTH mickey and minnie at our table which is a tough picture to get! LOL!

even though we were there early, i have to say i saw a lot of the buffet dishes go down quickly and remain empty for a few minutes (or more)... i was quite surprised! so that's not just a "later" seating time issue...
