7/25/2013 Med. Mickey's 12 Night Italian Job - with Nice, Valletta and Dubrov !

Hi folks
We've been looking at various options for tours in the Italian ports. One website which we used last time was www.tickitaly.com who are considerably cheaper than Viator and Disney. They accept payment by card on their website. I think it's the Italian museums website.
Last time we booked tickets in advance for the Coliseum in Rome. When we arrived there we skipped a very long line which stretched for miles as we had timed tickets. Definitely worth a look.
Regards

Hi. I found this on trip advisor. We're not doing it, but I thought I'd pass it along.

With Row Venice you have the opportunity to learn how to row like a Venetian! This is the Venetian style of rowing - standing up, facing forwards—just like that made famous by the gondolier.

During your 1.5-hour lessson, you'll be instructed in the particulars of the Venetian rowing style, then row with your instructor first through the canals of Venice and then out into the lagoon, where you'll even have the opportunity to steer this beautiful, all-wooden craft.

Row Venice offers lessons to individuals, small groups (2-6 people), and larger groups with multiple boats. Lessons are offered in English and Italian, with the possibility of French, German, and Japanese. See the website for complete information: rowvenice.org

Okay, excitement just increased exponentially! I just recieved our flight times and seating assignments. Yeah!

We're going from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Atlanta then on to Barcelona. We will be arriving in Barcelona at 8:30 in the morning on the 24th. So, a full day in that wonderful city. Alright, we will be jet lagged. Adreniline should kick in a little. Run us all ragged for the day, then everybody in bed early until we get up in time to get to the ship.

Starting to spend time on research on the cities. It is starting to get to the point of spending most of my day thinking about the cruise.

I finished tiling our front entryway last week and started on the kitchen a couple of days ago. I really need to concentrate on that. I'm having to remove the half inch thick layer of pressed board that was there under the linoleum so I can put in the correct underlayment for the ceramic tile. My shoulder, arms, and back are killing me. Now my mind is back to reality. 67 days until we begin this trip. More to do, more to study, more to learn.

Take Care Everybody

I'm right there with you Figment, spent the last 2 days cleaning debris and repairing the house after a visit by a tornado Thursday AM, thankfully the damage to our place was quite minor compared to others in the state. So I'll be sore and tired for a while.
On to the cruise, would anyone like to share about formal night? Someone at work said we can rent formal wear on the Magic. We are on the fence about this and would love to hear your thoughts etc.
Thanks, Mike

We always rent tuxes for DH and DS21. You get tux, two shirts and shoes. They wear the shoes as dress shoes all week, saves us from bringing size 12 and size 14 shoes in our luggage! Their is a link on DCL in the "gifts" section, I believe. It is cruiselineformal.com. Don't wait too long, because they do run out of sizes. Last year on Alaska DH had to wear a size larger shoe because they ran out of his size.

They wear the tuxes for formal night, semi formal night and for Palo.

Well this is going to seem like an odd request for a cruise leaving out of Bacelona, but...DH, DS (23) & I will be spending three days in London before the cruise. DH & I have been to London for a few days before Northern European Capitals cruise, but DS has never been.

Question: if you had friends coming to London and wanted to show them something unique, fun, or totally cool, where would you take them?

We have two things planned. Westminster Abby as DS will find this neat and a restaurant we found called 'Roc 'N Soul'. Best fish and chips these Yankees have ever had. (Admittedly, this is not a difficult feat to accomplish, but I still have the picture of the plate of food we ate that day)

Too many cool things! As A Londoner there is still so much I have not done. Remaining things on list are the new cable car by the O2 arena, plus a climb up the dome of the arena - you could do this having caught a boat down the Thames. Also the new viewing platform at the Shard is now open - pricey but amazing views. To ease the pain on the wallet the Museum of London has many neat things & is free and allows a walk through the City of London. I love walking London as there is so much you miss otherwise. Check out the "nose"in Admiralty Arch - you need to approach from Trafalgar Square and pick the left hand arch - then check out the lamp posts on the Mall - they all have ships on the top so that Nelson can keep watch on his fleet. I could go on, but I'm being reminded that I am supposed to be making bacon butties! If you think of anything else, let me know!

We will also be in London before the cruise. Have a two day hop-on-hop-off bus ticket which includes admission to the Eye and Tower of London.

Make sure you check out the 4D experience that is part of the Eye attraction. If you are not prebooked at the Eye, go early (when it opens), late in the day or be prepared to wait. Same also applies for the Tower - if you have chance to listen to a Beefeater giving the talk it is worth while. Starbucks within spitting distance if you need a caffeine hit too!

Hi there<

We're from the North-East of England but we have a daughter who is heavily into drama and music so we are frequent visitors to London as a result. Try a Duck Tour - we all enjoyed this and it's a good way to see some sights from the river! http://www.londonducktours.co.uk/ We also like the Imperial War Museum and The London Dungeons. There may be some Londoners who can recommend some more "hidden" places of interest too! Unfortunately you just miss out on a visit to Buckingham Palace, the Queen doesn't open her home to the public until July 27th, which is a shame as that's a fab thing to do!

Celestine and Starmaker, Thank you for all the great ideas about London. I can't wait to talk these over with my guys. :cool1:

I just finished Stateroom Ears door magnet of gondolier Mickey for our cruise.

Here is what it looks like on the stateroom door

Here is the Printable form. This works like the other Stateroom ears door magnets in Disboards. To use it, click on the thumbnail below. When the image shows up in Photobucket, clock on the little magnifying glass in the lower right corner of the image, then right-click on the image and select "Save Image as..". Then print the saved file full size.

I found this site today and am getting more excited with each post! There is a large group (appr. 50) of us coming from the US. My family is Myself, DH, DS (11).

I haven't seen anyone mention Fish Extenders. Should I be looking at a different thread?

Cheers!

FE UPDATE:

The cut-off deadline for FE will be JUNE 8, 2013! This gives people time to either order their FE or start making their FE. This means that JUNE 8, 2013 will be the last day that you can sign up to be a part of FE. Inevitably, someone will ask to join after that date. My usual response is: "You could join, but understand that you may not receive much in return (if anything). A lot of times people DO have extras, but NOTHING can be promised for you." Anyway.....we will cross that bridge when we come to it. :)

Cabin Numbers:
You may not have a cabin number as of yet. I have a handful that do not have them. You may receive your cabin number before our cruise (if so, get it to me asap), or you may not receive your cabin number before our cruise. You may have a cabin number today, but it may be changed. I will do my best to update before the cruise. I am not sure what kind of wi-fi I will get once I am in route. The wi-fi on the cruise is sometimes not the best. The best way for me to announce cabin changes on the cruise is on my cabin door. I will have a dry erase board with all cabin changes, etc. Please swing by my room and feel free to write your information on my board. There will also be pen and paper to leave me a note.

This new information will also be placed on the FE information POST: Post 363 on page 25.
As always: the link to the FE list is in my signature. Please make sure your information is correct. Thanks.

We just got an email for a Special Upgrade offer. Anyone else got that?

Yes we have an offer to upgrade to an ocean view room for $579. At Disneyworld we would get offers while we were there to upgrade our room to a more desirable location, or a more upscale resort etc.
