I like your plan for the TIW and APs. In October, would you be doing Food and Wine? I bet those smaller portions would be good if it was the right protein etc.

Preferred view is a view of the pool, I think.

My friend who is going with me in ohhh only 10 days has had the lap band done (maybe 1 and a half years ago or so) and while overall what she can eat now has changed there are still some things that bother her I will just have to finish all of her food so that none goes to waste
F&W will be perfect because I remember a lot of protein offerings so there will be some good choices for you

It sounds like a preferred view is of the pool or the boardwalk (but most likely the pool). I'm considering changing to boardwalk view, but I'm not sure.

We're definitely doing F&W for one meal, and maybe others.

It was great to call member services and make a reservation without my credit card. I can't wait to get my membership packet in the mail. I want my car sticker!!

I don't know about the origin of it, although I do know that a doctor in Ohio was the first to perform it in the states. It's more common in Europe, but it's gaining popularity here.

Trip 1, Day 1
13 October 2010
MY 40TH BIRTHDAY!!

So, we'll drive after school on Tuesday the 12th part of the way. I anticipate arriving at the Boardwalk on the morning of the 13th. Not early enough for rope drop, but in time to check in and then hit the parks. We have a studio that we got with rented points (since we weren't members yet).

I'm hoping to use the back entrance to the World Showcase and eat our lunch that day at Food & Wine. Some of you mentioned that the portion sizes would be perfect for me post-surgery, and I agree. I'm excited to sample, since last year we had the kids with us and we didn't bother to get into the lines. I think we'll wonder the WS, take in the sights, maybe do some shopping. If the crowds aren't bad we may hop over to Soarin' and grab a fast pass, we'll see. This will be a leisurely introduction to our trip.

Sometime in the late afternoon, we'll head back to the BW and (maybe after a nap?) get ready for dinner. I think we'll probably drive over to the Contemporary, because I'm having my birthday dinner at my favorite place~ California Grill!! I know I won't be able to eat a full 3 course meal, but I must have at least a taste of my favorites! We have a reservation at 5:40 and the BEST part is that it's for 6 people!! Yep, for my birthday dinner I'll be eating with my friend Courtney (Courtney881 on the boards) and her mom, and my dear friend Dawn (dizneydawn on the boards) and her fiance Dan (grumpyyoungguy on the boards).

I'm so excited to have my birthday dinner here and I'm hoping we can linger until sunset!

After dinner, I think we'll walk to the Magic Kingdom to be there in time for Wishes at 9:00. I love the MK at night and I can't think of anywhere I'd rather be on my 40th birthday than watching the castle change colors!! *sigh* It's a perfect day, right?

That does sound like a perfect first day! I'm so jealous that you're going during Food & Wine. I think it'll be a few years before we can manage that, since we almost never get any time off from school while F&W is going on.... and we teach in the same school, so it's hard to get personal days for both of us approved. I'd also love to spend my birthday at WDW, but it's too close to Thanksgiving to pull off... maybe in 2011 we'll go Thanksgiving week and call it my birthday trip!

So I was reading Dawn's TR then read her old ones and remembered your name so then read your last TR and now I'm at your PTR. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss and man do wrecks suck... when in college I totaled my mom's car into the back of my dad's truck on the way to vacation.... needless to say it wasn't a very pleasant vacation. I'm ready to hear about your plans for this trip and congratulations on DVC, I absolutely love ours and we leave in a little over a month for our next trip.

Thanks for the congratulations! We are Very excited about being new DVC members! We're still waiting on our welcome packet. I want my sticker for my car! (I bet that was an awkward vacation. I can't imagine! I've had 3 bad wrecks in my life, and they've all included turning left. I've decided-- No left turns for me!)

We get the Thursday and Friday of that week off from school so I'm only taking 1 day off. October is my VERY favorite time to go. The weather is perfect and the decorations are amazing.

I really do love going during F&W! October is such a great time to go to Florida. I think a Thanksgiving week trip is a great idea. Unfortunately, it's my MIL's favorite holiday and I think she would freak if we missed it!
