Will we still be there at 9:00 for some prime illuminations viewing, or is that too early?

My experience of reservations made for dining at the R & C are that we have waited on average about 15 minutes for our table. Whatever restaurant we eat at in the evening we usually have 3 courses and coffee after and we have a slow relaxed meal which usually means we are in the restaurant for about between 1 1/2 to 2 hours. There is no guarantee of course that you will be given the perfect table for viewing the fireworks.

Personally I think it is way too long. We are always out by 1 hour. And it has been our experience to be seated on time, we are always early though.
It you are seated on time are you prepared to sit for a good hour doing nothing??? HOlding a table when there are those waiting?

I would shoot for 8pm.

Um....no, have no interest in holding up someone else's table, was just thinking that with FD, we might have to wait a bit, and then 3 courses of food, coffee, 2 hours might not be an unreasonable expectation. If the meal is over earlier, then it's over earlier, and we will take our chances finding good viewing.

And, an 8 oclck reservation would have been perfect, but with FD 7:05 was all we could get. We will stick with it, as DH is dying for the Sheppards pie.

In my opinion, 7:05 is too early to expect to see Illuminations. We always schedule around 7:45. I understand that there was nothing later available, because those are the prime tables.
R & C is NOT a 2 hour meal, in our experience.
Have a Great Trip

You can really only see the fireworks if you sit outside. We were seated 45 minutes late for our reservation. At the end of our meal, Mo our waiter (awesome server BTW) asked us if we'd like to see the illuminations. We said sure, he lead us to a special roped in private viewing area . It was pretty cool. And the shepherds pie was yummy!!

I had heard that there were special viewing areas for diners, even if you didnt get lucky enough to get a table on the terrace. Speaking of, are there those tall, outside heaters on the terrace? It will be Jan, so I know weather is hit or miss.

Thanks for the responses, this way i know if I should stalk the dining site for a later Res or not.
