My friend has decided to plan a winter carnival for our 6th graders, kind of a little send off to middle school -- now instead of at the end of the school year. So we need to entertain them for at least 2 hours, food, games, decorations, etc.

If anyone has any bright ideas, please post them. We'll be brainstorming on Monday.

the PTA when my DS was in public schools did a family fun night. we had fake tattoos, sand art, a band, and some video games. the kind you stand on the big pad. we also had a raffle for door prizes. i know there was more but i was working the tattoo stand all night so i didnt get to check everything out. oh and a cotton candy stand.

the high school here does a winter carnival and they have the clubs do booths. there was a dunk tank, a bounce castle, throw a ball in dish for a goldfish, wheel of fortune for prizes, and a bunch of other stuff i dont remember.

what about a bucket toss. throw the balls at the milk bottles.
hope you can use these suggestions. just think about fairs and carnivals and the types of games they have. you should be able to come up with a few good ideas. good luck.

Another item the kids loved was having their picture taken. Like at MVMCP--you can either have yours alone or with a group. Back in the "old" days they used a polaroid so the kids could take the picture with them---now with the digitals---someone could set up a printer to print the pictures that are taken.....Gives the tykes a momento of the evening.

Worm761---has great ideas....Oh I remember all the fun daughter had at the school carnival.

PS---In the School carnival because it was a fun raiser the kids could purchase tickets which were redeemed at the various fun booths. Since this yours is a graduation fun night ---give the kids tickets that can be used for the various booths--I suppose if the wanted to do the cake walk the whole night they could----or you could give each child 2 tickets for each booth so they wouldn't just do one thing all night. Just an idea.
