6am flight? Am I out of my mind?

We like to get the first flight out of Logan which is 6ish. Even when my daughters were young we did it.

In Nov we are flying out of Hartford, CT. We are staying at a hotel the night before and the flight is at 630am. I figure we will be in the parks no later than noon!

I love getting up and knowing you will soon be in Disney!

Then I would say go for it. Before I aquired four-legged family members I always got the first flight out to MCO that I could, start the vacation that much sooner. Now I can't since I have to take the animals to their respective kennels first.

Take the animals to their kennels the night before so you can enjoy WDW sooner:thumbsup2

Leaving at 6 in the morning is good, then you don't have to contend with long security lines at your departure airport. In addition, most likely the aircraft that you will be flying would be a RON (Remaining Over Night) aircraft. Most airlines generally clean that plane pretty nicely the night before your flight. In addition you don't waste the whole day traveling.

Leaving from EWR on 9/3 to MCO at 6:30am! They're the best flights to take. I usually don't sleep well before any flying trip so by the time I get on the plane, I'm so tired I usually fall right asleep (Ok ok sometimes I aid that sleep with a vodka but hey! whatever works!). I make sure I dont drink any coffee until I land in MCO so I don't have the caffeine in me for the plane ride.

My plan for when I arrive is to check in at AKL and then go sit by the pool and nap!

I have a macaw parrot and two dogs and still take the earliest flight out. I have a coworker who normally stays at my house and takes care of the parrot and shih tzu while we're gone. I simply feed and water the small dog and parrot and leave them in the house. My coworker shows up a few hours later and lets herself in, gets settled in, goes to sleep for a few hours, and then goes to work that night. My large akita would never allow her in the house though if I wasn't there, so I take him to his vet's the afternoon before we leave.

Thinking of booking a 6am flight, but I haven't talled myself into it yet. An experiences?
If I have to get up more than about an hour earlier than "normal", plus the added stress of travel generally, that first day is a pretty short one. I've found that leaving a little later actually makes for a better first day.

We have done the very early fight often to Disney. The airport isnt crowded, we have never been delayed and we are always too excited to sleep!!!!!!

Usually we drive to Detroit airport the night before, priceline a hotel, swim, go to bed, try to sleep, fail at sleeping, and snooze on the plane on the way down.

That sounds like a little slice of heaven!!!!

We almost always do the "earliest out and latest home" flight plan and it has worked great. (not gonna get away nearly as early this year though. :headache:...)

this would be the flight to MCO. I also usually take the first flight of the day, but it's never been before 7:30 before.

i love early flights, the rest of my family.....not so much ;)
i have trouble sleeping (yup, too excited:banana:) the night prior, and get up at least 4 hours before flight time. so maybe 2-3 hours sleep, but i do sleep on the plane assuming i don't get a seat-kicker (i take a cold medicine for my ears, which helps knock me out).
for all the grousing in the morning, my family does love getting to the resort by 10 or 11am, so we do the early flight every trip (and the last possible flight coming home - gotta get every drop we can of the magic:))
