Yes, but I was hoping to be able to buy it today at the discount and then gift it for next year when my membership comes up for renewal.

I would just buy it for them now and send them an email and then a friendly "reminder" under the Christmas tree that I hope they are enjoying their Prime membership! NBD! ....................P
