Have any of you AP experts heard that 60 days must elapse after the expiration of an AP before a new one will be activated with date of first use as opposed to the old APs anniversary date?

Someone posted about that on the DVC miscellaneous board and I haven't been able to learn any more about it.

Nope.

The only time you must use the "old" anniversary date is if you take the DISCOUNT RENEWAL offer from Disney (within 30 days of your expiration).

If you pay full-price for a new AP, you can certainly activate it on the day of its first use.

Thanks, Robo. That had been my understanding and experience too although I don't know that we have ever redeemed a voucher or purchased a new AP within 60 days. But that is what was posted and I thought perhaps there was some arcane rule of which I have never heard.

Of course, some years ago, you could purchase at the renewal price and then activate it at first use. Now that was sweet.

The only other thing I can think of is that we were discussing APs with the DVC discount. Do you think that could make a difference?

Paging Golden Oldie..... :teeth:

I don't see why.

You can buy any "NEW" AP with your discount, right?

Don't see this as meaning anything to an expired-for-more-than-a-month anniversary date.

Robo is correct. As long as the voucher is for a new AP (not a renewal price), then you can activate it the next day after your old one expires although I don't know why you would want to. Would be cheaper to renew if you did it then. ;) There is no period of waiting required. Doesn't matter whether it's a regular AP, FL resident, DVC, etc.

Thanks, Golden Oldie. That is what I had thought but...

With DVC discounts the difference between renewal and new APs is much less than regular APs... only a $15 difference last year. So although it certainly doesn't make sense to buy a new AP a day after expiration, it does after less than a month.

Thanks again to both of you. :wave2:
