6 Year Old Trapped in a Balloon. Boy Found Alive - Hiding at Home!

Well the money that Jon & Kate are making off of their children may have be what gave these wackos the idea to try for a reality show of their own..

Exactly! The money, the fame, their faces on every magazine, on every news show, those poor kids (jon and kate's ) are just the money making machines, and we love it, we watch, we blog, TLC makes tons of money, the magazines make money. Investigators are examining the possibility of other conspirators, including the possibility that even some of the media outlets may have had some knowledge about this. :sad2:

I'm not sure if I want the dad or mom to go to jail but they should have to pay for all the fuel and other supplies used for the "rescue"

Plus fines for all the laws they broke. Maybe along prbation period that they can not do any TV or other media.

I had said at the beginning if they go to all the talk shows its a hoax, I was right.

They must not be to smart. They said they (parents) in the house when the ballon went up than they release a tape showing thim out side with it. gezzz not smart.

whole thing is just crazy.

I don't want them to go to jail either, because of those kids, maybe some counseling, and have them pay the state for the 'show'.

They aren't very smart, but the dad is very cocky and going on tv was the attention he wanted. The whole thing was crazy indeed.

I've watched this thing unfold from the beginning. I might be different here, but I think they should get jail time. I really don't think they have the money to pay the bill for such a search and rescue mission (delays at the airport during this time), so they should have to pay with their time.
Any parent who puts their kids through all that should be charged with child abuse. It looks like they will file 4 charges against each of them. They are probably going for the most they can charge and will be reduced if they are found guilty.

Maybe some jail time will make them think a bit. Being separated from their kids might do them some good. These people are sick.

Well, it make senses also, because maybe those kids can get some therapy and a more healthy life style, however I think it would be hard for them to know that their parents are in jail or to be away from them.

I used to think where do they (Wife swap) get these people? Are they for real? They sure are, sick and nutty.

My partner insisted Wife Swap was staged and that these people were just actors. Ha! I guess she's gonna have to be wrong on this one! :rotfl: Actually, I kinda wish I had been wrong in this case. It really is sad how those kids have been raised. They are so horrible, cussing, insulting people and running around with no discipline. I wonder, if they are put in normal homes, if they could be molded into respectful young people and not demon spawn. I really hope so. The last thing this world needs is three more Richard Heene's running around! :headache:

I think it could be hard for the kids to be away from their parents, however, in a loving, therapeutic foster home, perhaps they would be taught discipline. I believe kids want boundaries...it's how they feel safe. These kids have had absolutely no boundaries whatsoever. Anything goes. It's just not good for them.

The whole situation is just so sad. :sad2:

I agree Orchid! It might be better to be away from those crazy parents, I feel so bad for them because they do all those bad things because they don't know any better.

I thought it was all staged too...

I don't think that the kids will be removed from the home unless they can prove that they have been abusive in more than just being off the wall.

We are all going by what happened on Wife Swap and this stunt so we don't know the complete family dynamics.

If that was the case than all the wacko parents all over the US not to mention all the ones on Wife swap....and man that show is just full of them.....same as with the show The Nanny and such...than there would be many kids in the care of the social workers witch in many ways can be worse than with the parents like these.

Many Foster Family's could care less about the kids and it is more about Money.

I think that this family needs more counseling and parenting skills. Hopefully this fiasco will help bring them back to Earth...if they were ever on Earth to begin with.

As far as Jail time. Well these are stupid people.....and I don't say that lightly. I think the parents need to pay off their debt by community service and fines. I think before Jail time Psych evaluations need to be a big must.

When all this started, Once I saw who the family that was involved were ,my brain switched right over to the thinking that it was a hoax/planned. It just fit with what the Dad talked about on Wife Swap doing in a round about way.

This is a very interesting story....and it is just as wacky as the family that tried to pull it off.

But to me this is a family in need of lots of mental health and parenting skills and maybe not so much jail time.

Funny.
Amelia Earhart Turns Up In Richard Heene's Attic

FT. COLLINS, Colo. (CAP) - Authorities conducting a follow-up search of "balloon boy" father Richard Heene's Colorado home have turned up missing aviatrix Amelia Earhart living in a box in his attic, where she'd apparently been since her legendary disappearance.

Earhart, well over 100 years old, was none the worse for wear, according to authorities.

"She said she'd been in tighter spots than that," said Sheriff Jim Alderden. "She's a tough old bird."

Alderden said his men hadn't thought to look in Heene's attic for Earhart, because they assumed she had crashed into the Pacific Ocean in 1937.
The discovery has led many to believe that Earhart's disappearance was an elaborate, attention-grabbing hoax planned by Heene, who caused an uproar last week when he erroneously reported that his son Falcon had been carried away by an experimental balloon he had tethered in his backyard.

"That stupid jerk - I was worried sick about that woman!" said Art Federburg, 81, of Hackensack, N.J., upon hearing about Earhart. "There's 72 years I'm never gonna get back."

Heene, however, denied faking Earhart's disappearance, arguing that it occurred decades before he was born, and claiming not to know how Earhart got in his attic or how she survived there all these years. "Although I probably should have been suspicious when all our GoGurts started disappearing," he said.

Heene then said all further questions should be written on Post-It Notes and affixed to a shoe tree he had placed on his front porch.

The latest controversy comes in the wake of the announcement Sunday that Richard Heene and his wife, Mayumi, would face criminal charges over the balloon incident.

According to Sheriff Alderden, investigators became suspicious when a review of 911 records showed that this was the fourth time the Heenes had reported an emergency situation involving one of their sons, who in the past had been reported trapped in a well, stuck in the bottom of a coal mine following a shaft collapse and locked inside an experimental submersible 16,000 feet beneath the ocean's surface. In each case, the boy in question was found in a box in their attic.

"But not the same box Ms. Earhart was in," clarified Alderden. "We probably would have found her sooner if that was the case."

Phone records show that in each of those cases, the Heenes called both CNN's Larry King and Survivor producer Mark Burnett prior to calling 911, said Alderden. None of those incidents achieved national notice, however, because, according to MIT media analyst Ellen Hulce, "they didn't have Twitter then."

This whole thing makes me sick to my stomach. What kind of a heartless idiot do you have to be to stage a hoax on THIS level?! Did they REALLY think that they could pull this off?! Idiots.

2 things about it bother me the most; 1) that they got their innocent children to participate in this, all because of some stupid reality show, and 2) that the lives of rescue workers could have been in jeopardy during the rescue operation. :headache:

And I agree 100% with other posters about the domestic abuse; in the video that was online recently (the video of the craft taking off), I can see the wife flinch when the husband gets angry. He must really be a nasty guy if he can make her flinch even when she knows he's going to get angry and when she knows "the plan". I tend to think that if there really is abuse, perhaps she went along with it so that he wouldn't harm her or the kids. I'm not trying to release her from being involved, but I think that's a possibility.

What just kills me now is what his lawyer is saying (I copied and pasted this from CNN.com):

Lane, asked Monday by CNN about his client's state of mind, said it was "what you would expect someone's state of mind to be after law enforcement searched your house, seized your property, held a press conference announcing you're about to be charged with felony criminal charges. Your state of mind would be rather upset and you would feel somewhat under siege, which is exactly how the family feels at this point."

Oh cry me a river. I'm sorry I don't feel bad for your client, Mr. Lane. What about the emotional hell he put all those rescue workers through? What about their state of mind?! What about the American people, who were watching and praying for that little boy, terrifed that he fell out of that balloon?!

Good grief. :headache:

The "other woman" in Wife Swap actually defended the family. While she says, Richard Heene is a jerk....she believes this wasn't a hoax.

She also says Dad is a diabetic and has emotional outbursts due to his meds. ???

I'm sorry, I have diabetes and that is just ********. Yes, going low can make you feel irritable and crappy. But guess what? Most of us learn to deal with it. There have been a couple of times that I have felt like I was going to pass out while I was in the middle of a lesson, but I just keep reminding myself that I am irritable because I am low and never take it out on my kids. Yes, sometimes people get to the point of being irrational and may "outburst", but from what I've seen, it's very obvious they are low as what they are saying is irrational. Many times people who are low are mistaken for being drunk and when they get to that point are likely to pass out without some kind of intervention. I have also never heard of a diabetes med with mood altering side effects.

As for the rest of it, I admit I did look up some videos of the guy on wife swap. I saw the one clip of him screaming at the woman "you suck." It was very obvious to me he was doing it for the camera. It reminds me of the extremely bad acting you expect from very little kids.

That being said, I have never seen a more disrespectful family. The entire family screams obscenities at people, hurls abuse, and is generally just ill behaved. I can't help but feel sorry for the teachers of these kids as they must have their hands full (if the kids go to school that is) and the parents are most likely no help. I would not be surprised at all to find out that there is domestic abuse in that home with the way the father treats women. And honestly, I would not be surprised to find out one day that these kids are in jail.

It has nothing to do with the family being "weird." Hey, if they want to do science experiments and hunt UFOs, more power to them. It is their utter lack of self control that makes me dislike them.

Ok, the day after the "balloon" incedent, I was shocked when the Sherrif made the statement that this was no hoax and there would be no charges. I could NOT believe a Class 3 misdmeanor was all he could be charges with.
Well, turns out they made this statement to the media so the Henne family would still cooperate. This weekend, they called him (remember, they think the Sherrifs dept was on their side) and told him to come pick up with balloon because they didn't need it for evidence. So this idiot shows up at the Sheriffs office to get his ballon. When he arrived, they questioned in again, and made him take a polygraph. Apparently, the police knew pretty quickly it was a hoax and Falcon saying "we did it for the show" there were convinced. I feel bad because I thought they were so stupid for not pressing higher charges, but they are smart. They completely fooled him and me. So WTG to the Larimore (sp?) Sheriffs dept.....that was brilliant.
Oh, and CPS IS investigating.
I have a feeling he will be service prison a long time...esp for involving the young boys in the hoax.

They were on Wife Swap twice, so I must have seen the "other woman" from the other show they did with a different family. She said as soon as she knew the Heenes were involved in a crisis situation that just so happened to get tthem publicity, she knew it was a hoax. Said she wasn't worried at all about Falcon, because she knew this was the kind of thing Richard would do to get some attention so they would be offered their own reality show.

Did anyone notice on the Today show when Falcon threw up, how irritated the dad looked? I felt like he was about to lose it, but was able to finish the interview without going nuclear. His face said it all!
And he kept looking down throughout the interview so he would not look Merideth in the eye. This is a key sign that someone is lying, lack of eye contact.

:lmao:
They better keep opening boxes! I bet they may find Hoffa in there also!!!

I doubt that they are going to get any jail time. Given the overcrowded nature of the jails they will most likely get probation and some HEFTY fines/restitution that they will most likely never be able to pay back.

And I am not sure that CPS can do much? The boy was never actually in any danger. Being a stupid, money grubbing jerk with terrible judgement isn't actually a reason to remove children from the home. If they are fed and clothed and well cared for and not physically abused in any way then there is no reason to take them from the parent. CPS has enough of a backlog of kids that are truly in danger they need to concentrate on. While I think these parent's have the parenting skills of a rock, there is no requirement to actually make your kids behave and turn into productive citizens.

OMG, I just read my post from yesterday and I am about to die. It is so full of errors:headache:
I have been sick for a few days, sorry.
Anyway, I heard on the radio, that the estimate for this stunt is around $2 million. I had a feeling it would be at least one mill.

Wow. TMZ has a story about his previous arrests and charges including assault with a deadly weapon (gun), spousal abuse, and vandalism (he hit someone's car three times when he was, apparently, trying to hit the person. This was after stiffing him for a job the poor guy did for him.)

That is his story now. There is a ton of local speculation that he is backtracking and trying to cover his butt for future re-election. It has been suggested that there will be a swell at the polls and not in his favor.

Remember, this is the same guy who admitted he had no clue there were helicopters following the balloon and was trying to rent a private one. All he had to do is turn on the TV.

At least Heene had the presence of mind to call the local news for their helicopter. :lmao:

The sheriff has also said that the sheriff's department has now spent more money dealing with the media than they did on the rescue.

Hey, have you guys heard the 'show song'? Richard is the singer, its kind of funny and cool. Anderson Copper and Erica hill were having a bast. Warning, it gets in your head and you'll be singing along ... 'Richard heene the science detective' :rotfl:
