6 Year Old Trapped in a Balloon. Boy Found Alive - Hiding at Home!

The report on CNN makes it sound like they believe he is hiding somewhere.

They said the box compartment was to hold a battery.

they said that there was like a doggie door x2 in there. Maybe that is what they saw fall out.

they really need to show a pic of the whole balloon as it was constructed before this happened. Then we'll know what this box or compartment from the bottom looks like. This is insane. I hope it turns out well

My question is how did this kid untie this thing if he was in this box? I think big brother needs to start talking.

One issue that the box presents is that it represents even more weight... making it even less likely that the balloon had enough lift to pick up the box and the boy.

I live near Denver too. It seems like this story is getting weirder by the minute. Hopefully he turns up alive and well though.

I agree....he could have untied it when his brother crawled inside.....this whole thing is so off the wall.

Someone I know said they heard on tv that the parents called the news before they called the authorities?

I don't understand the theory of how the boy could have untied the balloon and then jumped out of it while it was moving. How fast would it have been moving and/or rising.

And yeah, for that matter, how could he have untied while he was inside?

I don't know what to think. Maybe it's a freak accident, or maybe it's a hoax by the family to get publicity. I hope it's a hoax for the boy's sake, but I would be very irritated if it turns out that the parents engineered this whole thing for publicity.

CNN is reporting the balloon landed south of Colorado Springs. It did not - it landed northeast of DIA according to the local media.

I stayed home sick form work today and this familys actual EPISODE of wife swap. was on repeat today in the boston area.

Then the child goes missing this afternoon. very weird.

If you search youtube the brothers make little videos/ perhaps thats what they were doing?

CNN is reporting that the Larimer County Sheriff's Office doesn't think that he was in the balloon and is somewhere safe on the ground. I hope so!

this whole thing is so bizarre and the dad's comment about how the balloon could be used for transportation (like for commuting to work....) talk about the worst statement at the worst time EVER!

That would make more sense. Maybe he climbed in, the brother saw him and ran inside, he climbed out, untethered it, realized what he'd done and took off, like another poster suggested. It's weird that he hasn't shown up, though.

I know a poster says they were undisciplined boys, but I'm sure he realizes how important this was to his dad and he probably got scared.

Let's hope that's what happened.

this was one crazy family and like I said I would not put it past the dad at least to see if it would fly and start this whole thing in motion. He was obsessed with the prototype of this balloon.

Did they say why they called the news first??? :confused3 Could you just imagine if you thought that your child was in that thing:eek::eek::eek: or fallen out. I was terrified that why they were showing it that if he was in it that he would fall out.

While strange, I can see that happening.

The dad is an ex weather reporter. News stations have helicopters. A panicked parent might just call their friends at the news station to get the helicopter to track, perhaps rescue the balloon before they called the police.

I would prefer if they'd refrain from second-guessing the parents until after the search is over.
