6 Nights of Chicken Wings, Car Accidents, and Calorie Laden Meals! 1/26 COMPLETE

For Monday lunch we toured the world showcase booths. That was a must do for me so I was excited to try all of the booths!

My first stop was the South African booth Seared Filet of Beef with Smashed Sweet Potatoes and Braai Sauce.

IMG_2630.jpg

This was so good. The Braai sauce was a spicy curry sauce almost and it actually tasted good with the sweet potatoes! I really liked the sweet potatoes too! The filet was a little overcooked and I am not sure about it being a filet but it was still good!

....

Photobucket crapped out on me! I think their server is down so I will finish this when it goes back up!

Its back up!

Then from Hawaii I had the Kahlua Pork slider with Pineapples on top.

IMG_2623.jpg

I didn't like this. the bread was too hard and too thick for the pork. The pork was too dry. I did like the spicy may on top though!

Then I had the pumpkin mousse with orange sauce from the Hops and Barley booth.

IMG_2633.jpg

The pumpkin mousse was very good but I didn't like the orange sauce. I don't think orange and pumpkin goes well together. If I could just have a bowl of the pumpkin mousse with the craisins on top I would be good to go!

I also got the lobster claw cuddler.

IMG_2634.jpg

This wasn't great. Thank god I used a snack credit for it because it was like $5.50. There wasn't that much meat in the lobster claw and it was very watery from cooking it which made the dipping sauce runny.

Emily got the grilled lamb chop with mint pesto and potato chips from Australia.

IMG_2624.jpg

This was actually pretty good with the exception of the fat. The meat was really good but the mint pesto was a little weird.

Next up was the crispy shrimp taco from Mexico. This was not good! The shrimp were so crispy that they were hard and chewy. There was also way too much radish on the taco.

IMG_2626.jpg

I got the caramel flan from Mexico.

IMG_2627.jpg

This was good but very very sweet and very thick. It was a little too rich but had good caramel flavor!

Next up I had the spicy hand roll from Japan. This was really good and I was surprised at how big it was! This was definitely filling. I wish the rice layer was a little thinner though because I like to taste the spicy tuna more, not the rice.

IMG_2641.jpg

We stopped for a drink in France and Emily got the chocolate crepe. She was kind of disappointed because she has been to the real France and loved the crepes there. She said they normally use nutella but there they just put chocolate syrup on it.

IMG_2642.jpg

Corey also bought us ladies grey goose slushies! He bought himself one too. This may sound weird to you guys but it is the first alcoholic drink he has ever bought for himself! He doesn't drink and the only couple of times he drank was at our parties in college where it was free. He loves the grey goose slushie so if you are afraid to drink, try these, they are yummy!

IMG_2644.jpg

We also got the chocolate creme brulee from France. This is probably my favorite dessert in the Food and Wine Festival. It is so light and has a light chocolatey flavor and it is delicious!

IMG_2648.jpg

We went to the desserts booth and Corey got the frozen nesquick drink. He loved this! It was definitely light and airy.

IMG_2678.jpg

I got the dessert trio. First up is the chocolate mousse with a hint of spicy.

IMG_2680.jpg

Absolutely delicious! the spice was so mild; you only felt it in the back of your throat every so light! The mousse was light and cold! The spicy was actually on the bottom; it was soaked up in that cake stuff on the bottom.

The others were the lemon with the berries and the panna cotta with fruit.

IMG_2681.jpg

I loved both of these as well. The lemon was a very tart lemon that paired nicely with the sweet blueberries! Yum I want one of those right now!

IMG_2682.jpg

That is it for my food and wine! There wasn't as much wine as I wanted to try but that is okay! It was too hot and I didn't feel like drinking. I wanted to try the grapefruit beer but they were all it. It sucked because at the end of the festival they were out of a lot of drinks, maybe they just didn't want to re order them when it was the end but that isn't right.

Hi Rachel. You have some great updates from F&W! I'm a fan of Via Napoli so - especially the pizza. Next time we go I want to try one of the pasta dishes. Maybe it's me but I don't prefer potatoes with chicken parm. I would rather have a side of steamed veggies or some pasta. Emily's chicken parm did look pretty awesome!

Yeah it is kind of weird that they serve potatoes with the chicken. They were good though if you like potatoes! My boyfriend is now a huge fan of Via Napoli! He wants to eat there every time we go.

So our original plans were to go to Yachtsman Steakhouse for Dinner. The night before Corey really didn't want to go Yachtsman. He was sick of steak and didn't want to eat any more steak. So he had me cancel my reservation:sad1:

I was so sad because I really wanted to try a signature dinner! I didn't really want steak either but I wanted to try Yachtsman.

So I was checking out the reservations and I wanted to eat at Coral Reef or Captains Grill but Corey was having none of that so we had to Cape May.

I didn't really want to eat there at all! But I was willing to do it because I love him!

After Emily left, off we went to Cape May.

I started off with the butternut squash soup which was pretty good. Not awesome, but good.

IMG_2794.jpg

Next plate:

IMG_2795.jpg

The shrimp and cocktail sauce was my favorite!!! The cocktail sauce was spicy and the shrimp was cold! I also loved the tomato and mozzarella salad. It had yellow and red tomatoes. I also had tabbouleh and the cape may salad. both were okay. The last thing was potato salad and I don't think I liked it at all!

Next plate:

IMG_2798.jpg

I think I remember the mac and cheese being pretty bland but I loved the red skinned potatoes! They were so good, cooked perfectly, enough sea salt and warm! I loved them for being so simple. The salmon wasn't great.

I went back for two of my favorites: shrimp and cocktail sauce and mozz salad. there wasn't enough mozzarella balls left in the bowl so I mostly had tomatoes. That was a negative.

IMG_2800.jpg

I can't believe I didn't have any crab legs here. Corey was eating them though and they weren't the best. The meat was coming out in pieces and it just wasn't easy to peel so I decided to pass. Corey had many many legs though!

IMG_2801.jpg

Next up was time for desserts. One of the reasons I didn't want to eat here was because they got rid of the oreo bon bons. That was one of my favorite desserts ever in WDW so I was pretty upset when they got rid of them here even though you can still get them at the Beach Club.

IMG_2802.jpg

This has a boston creme cake, a cheesecake with blueberry whipped topping, and a little flourless chocolate cake. All three of this were good with the cheesecake not having much flavor. That blueberry topping really didn't taste like much at all.

Next up was the flan and the strawberry shortcake.

IMG_2804.jpg

The flan wasn't good at all. I really wish it was creme brulee, that would be amazing. The strawberry shortcake was amazing! It was fresh, delicious, and the perfect size. I really liked it!

IMG_2805.jpg

Overall I wasn't impressed with Cape May. Everytime I eat there it gets worse. The only saving grace is the cold stuff. The best thing on the hot side was red skinned potatoes; that is sad! The desserts are good but I am still mad they got rid of the oreo bon bons! Plus it is very expensive. It is almost $40 per person! I would never eat her without the dining plan.

After Corey made me cancel Crystal Palace we decided we were just going to eat at Main Street Bakery.

We got a cinnamon roll which looked delicious but it wasn't.

IMG_2853.jpg

IMG_2854.jpg

It was very dry and hard. It looks so soft and fluffy but it was the opposite of that! These are such a hit or miss item!

We had leftover snacks to use so I decided to use them on a citrus swirl from Sunshine Tree Terrace.

IMG_2880.jpg

IMG_2881.jpg

OMG this is amazing!!!!! My new favorite snack in all of disney World!!! The orange slush tastes sooo good with the vanilla ice cream. It is basically like orange juice frozen with vanilla ice cream. It is sooo good!!!!!!!!

Corey got a dole whip mixed with orange soft serve.

IMG_2929.jpg

He loves this even though I tried to get him to switch to a citrus swirl.

Right when we were about to leave I decided I needed another citrus swirl.

IMG_2931.jpg

Once again good! I could have had another one of them. They are so good!

We needed to use our last counter service credits before we had to fly back to Minnesota:sad1: After trying AGAIN to get into the new fantasyland for lunch and denied once again I gave up!

I decided to go to columbia harbour house.

IMG_3117.jpg

I literally inhaled this!! I think I ate this in like 8 minutes. The salmon wasn't as juicy as it was the first time but it is still an excellent counter service choice. The cous cous isn't authentic but it is still a nice option.

For dessert I had the apple crisp.

IMG_3118.jpg

It is a nice dessert. The middle has big apple slices and it actually tastes fresh and good.

Corey went to Cosmic Rays and had a chicken sandwich with french fries. He says this sandwich is alright.

IMG_3127.jpg

He likes this chocolate gelato!
IMG_3128.jpg

For the road I got a red velvet cake pop. They don't have non sugar coated ones which is disappointing because the sugar is too much but this is still good. I love red velvet cake pops!!!!

IMG_3167.jpg

IMG_3174.jpg

I also had day old caramel corn from karamelle kuche. I love this caramel corn. It is really soft and chewy but I like that. It isn't crispy so if you are looking for crispy caramel corn this isn't it.

IMG_3175.jpg

And that is it for my dining review from November 2012! I hope you enjoyed it!

I like reading your dining reviews. They are very entertaining and informative. :)

Yum! Such great food! I think I'd be all over that shrimp cocktail with cocktail sauce too. I love that kinda stuff!

Great updates and pics.

I have to laugh at how people have different experiences. Cape May for us was our best meal and the Wave was one of the worst mainly because of that butternut squash risotto. :lmao: That is why they have so many places to try for all the different people.

Great report.

Rachel - oops! Not sure why I didn't comment on your final meals. Anyhoo.... My DH really wanted Cape May last August but since I'm not a crab fan I just couldn't see paying the price to eat some sides. However, I could probably eat my weight in shrimp if there is a good spicy cocktail sauce with it! At least your photos of the food and desserts looked great even if they didn't taste wonderful!

Sounds like Corey owes you a Yachtsman Dinner next time! :p

Great job with your review and I especially loved your awesome photography!

Great report I really enjoyed reading it!

I loved your food and restaurant choices and of course your photos!

Will you be doing a dining report for your solo trip or have I missed it?

Andrea :o)
