Cast of Characters
Me- 39yr old (Shh-It's a secret) Trip planner
DH-45 yr old -Along for the ride
DS-15yr old -Typical teenager (You people who have one know what I mean)
DS- 8 yr old- My favorite travel companion (meaning he wanted to do everything I wanted to do without complaining)

After breakfast we headed out to IOA. I decided I would be brave and ride Dueling Dragons with my 15yr old DS. I don't know what I was thinking. The closer we got to the front of the line the more nervous I got. It was about a 15 min. wait with FOTL and I was wishing it was longer. All too soon we were ready to climb aboard "Fire". As we were fastening our seatbelts and lowering the restraint, I realized it was much too late to change my mind. I decided on a strategy to get me through this terrible lapse in judgement. As soon as the restraint was lowered, I closed my eyes and didn't open them again until the ride was over and we were pulling into the unloading area. It worked. I actually survived. In fact, it wasn't even that bad! I was so proud of my newfound bravery that I decided to take on the Hulk! This time I kept my eyes open the entire time. It was a blast! I'm not usually a roller coaster fan, but these ones really weren't too bad. I guess I was expecting the intense coasters like they have at Cedar Point. I hate those! Hulk and DD were pretty tame in comparison. Next we headed to the Eight Voyage of Sinbad. We enjoyed it. Then we headed to City Walk. We were planning on having lunch at Latin Quarter. I had a GC from clear channel to use up. When we got there we found the place was closed. It was 11:30 and I knew they were supposed to be open for lunch so I went over to the information booth to find out what the deal was. I was told that LQ had been bought out for the day by some big corporation and was closed to the public. I was told they would be open tomorrow and I could come back then. We decided we would plan on coming back tomorrow and headed on to HRC instead. We all enjoyed our meals. I had the Pig Sandwich, DH had some kind of chicken salad, and both DS's had cheeseburgers. After lunch DH and 15 yr old DS were pooped out and decided to head back to the hotel. My 8yr old DS and I, being the party animals that we are, headed over to USO. We took on the Mummy first, then did Jimmy Neutron, Shrek, Jaws, MIB and BTTF and ET. We decided to have a bite to eat before heading back so we stopped in to Schwab's Pharmacy for a sandwich. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and DS ordered the turkey. We sat at the counter to eat. As we were enjoying our sandwiches, I thought I saw something out of the corner of my eye. I looked over at the wall next to us and saw a cockroach climbing up the wall. Yuck! My DS noticed it at the same time. I called the girl over who was working behind the counter and said " It looks like you have a critter in here". She didn't seem the least bit surprised. She said "Yeah we get those. Really, that isn't the worst of it. A couple weeks ago we were infested with red ants." Well, somehow that didn't make me feel any better. I looked around and noticed that the bins holding the meat and sandwich fixings were left uncovered and who knows how many little legs marched through all of it! Maybe I'm a bit naive but, being from Michigan, we don't see these kind of things! Needless to say, we didn't finish our sandwiches. On the way out, I stopped at Guest Services to let them know about what I had seen. The two guys working in there just looked at me like I was from Mars. I was told that this was swamp country and that there were lots of these little fellows everywhere. I was told they were even in the hotel I was staying at even though I couldn't see them. Not my beloved HRH! Well, being the Yankee that I am, this really grossed me out! We took the water taxi back to the hotel. When we got back to our room I did a thorough critter search but, happily, found nothing. Satisfied, I climbed into my comfy bed and went to sleep. Tomorrow would be our last day and I was already getting sad. Stay tuned for Day 6.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
that was my laugh for the day!!

cockroaches are common in FL - just as ants are common to us N. easterners!!

i stayed with family one time in FL & low and behold saw a flying cockroach- believe me i almost passed out:faint:

nobody else seemed the least bit botherd by this flying roach- then and there i vowed that even though i had fantasies of retiring to FL one day ...this just wasn't gonna happen (lol)

really enjoyed your report:wave2:

Our Yukon got infested with little ants (around here we call them piss ants) in the RPR parking lot. They went up the hitch and into the tailgate. We did not have any food in the vehicle or anything. No luggage - nothing!!! On the way home we had to stop and vacuum out HUNDREDS of ants and even spray our running baords and tailgate area with RAID ant killer!! Seems like we parked near a bed of ants and they like GMC's. We had never seen anything like it!

Great report and I don't think I would finish my sandwich either
