Hi, my name is Alicia and I was in orlando last week for a conference( june20-24th) with my mom and 4 other people and we went to universal on Saturday, June 23rd. I was really excited about this trip and going to universal. We had 2 park/1 day tickets. This being my first trip to universal, Florida for that matter, I found this website that helped me out a lot and got my even more excited from reading other peoples' good times. I figured it was going to be very busy that day so I picked out the rides I wanted to go on the most (pretty much all at islands of adventure). I knew we wouldn't be getting express passes and would be limited on time so I wanted to get there as soon as we could. Being 17, I didnt have much say about it.
So, we all split up in groups of two, so we could do the things we wanted. It was almost 10am when we walked through the IOA gates and headed off and to meet back at 4pm. So, my mom and I went right to the Hulk. After we put our stuff in the lockers, we had a 40 minute wait. When we got up to the split of the line for the front row, it said 30 minute wait from this point but I couldn't see anyone in the line! I pondered for a minute and then decided we would go for it. The line was very short and we actually ended up being in the same cart with the people that were in front of us in the all other rows line. So, we got the front row with no extra wait! i was totally happy and it was a great start to a day i was being negative about because i thought we wouldnt have time to do many rides.
I was thinking spiderman next, but for some reason it wasnt on my top priority list. So next we walked (well more like speedwalked) through suess landing and the lost continent onto the dueling dragons. the sign said 10 minute wait, awesome! scariest queuing area! i couldnt see where i was going and there was no one else around, i thought i was leading my mom and i to nowhere. finally, we made it to "choose thy fate" ICE was first and within 5 minutes we were sitting in the front row! it was awesome immediately we ventured through the long longggg queue and in 10-15 minutes(they were adding a new track) we were in the front row of FIRE!! it was definitely a wilder ride than ice but i loved them both and my mom liked ice better.
So, i was stoked that we had gotten the front row of all the rollercoasters! this is a must-do!! next, my mom wanted to do the jurassic park river adventure and within 35 minutes we were on it. we got just wet enough to cool us off and it was an alright ride, not my favorite though.
After a drink and bathroom break we headed to toon lagoon where we went on ripsaw falls. now, the wait for this was 65 minutes BUT there was a single rider line. i wanted to get as many rides as we could in and my mom was cool with it so we went in the single rider line and within 10-15 minutes we were in the SAME raft or whatever it is. i was in the front and my mom was right behind me! i felt like we were cheating!! lol. i mean the guy looked at us and said next 2 people and pointed to the same row. it was great. we got totally soaked though!!! really really soaked!! i was a little scared on the ride though, being in the front and not knowing what to expect but i survived and had a great time.
Next, we had lunch at the comic strip cafe. the dragon combo was surprisingly very good btw. After inhaling lunch, i saw the line for popeye was 65 minutes, no single rider line, so i wanted to go see how long spiderman was and on the way we heard someone say 85 minute wait, we walked down there and saw there was a single rider line. once again, within 10 minutes we were sitting together. talk about saving time! i am really glad we went on this ride because it was totally awesome! PRERIDING my thoughts: reading what people say about spiderman on here, i didnt understand why everyone loves it so much, it says it is just a simulation ride. AFTER RIDING: WOW this is definitely not JUST a simulation ride. i dont know how they did it, but wow!
So, we headed back to toon lagoon to see what the popeye wait is and it is 75 minutes. well, this is the last ride at IOA we wanted to ride and it is 2:30 so we won't have time to go to universal and then come back to IOA to meet for 4:00 anyway. so we just get in line and after 96 minutes we are on the ride and late because it is about 4:20 after the ride was done. i liked this ride, im not sure if it was worth 96 minutes, but after the good time we made on the other rides it was cool. i think we actually got wetter on ripsaw falls than we did on popeye!
Even though we didnt get to go to universal, see any characters(i guess we just missed them all), have any park junkfood, or souvenir shop, we had the full Islands of Adventure Ride experience and some quality mother/daughter time!! You will definately see me there again especially when the wizarding world of harry potter opens! Thanks to everyone on here for good information and for reading about my day, though there are probably a bunch of mistakes lol. I took some random pictures that i will try to put on here later
