6/6-6/10 TR: The Holy Grail of Vero Beach OVIRs

.... I kept telling DH that I did not think very much knowledge of the holy grail was out there because I would have heard about it! :rotfl:

There have been rare reports of the VB holy grail but no one have ever been so brazen as to captured an image of it! Well done Starbox. Well done. But we, the knowledge holders of the holy grail, must be ever vigilant protecting it from rampant exploitation. :yoda:

So, miss lisa... master of maps and floor layouts.... do you think there is another one at the other end of the building?

Just call me Indy.

:rotfl: :lmao:

I purposefully did not post the evidence of the holy grail on the adoration thread to protect it's secret. :worship: I figure a handful of people will read this report and then it will get buried in the graveyard of trip reports past.

Thanks for a great trip report and sorry to about your son's jellyfish sting. Did you see what it looked like? Glad they had something to treat him with. Stepped on a Portuguese Man-o-war by the Inlet many years ago. You probably don't want to know what we used back then for on the spot pain killer/antiseptic;)

There are a few really great OVIRs. We got a corner room that was FANTASTIC....it's actually an adjoining room, in the shape of a huge L.

In one part of the L shape was a sofa and the kitchen, and around the corner was the bedroom. It had windows with a side view of the ocean, and a balcony with an ocean view.

Thanks It's nice when the weather cooperates.

I LOVED hearing about how great VB is! We are spending 2 nights there on our trip in March, 09!
Only one problem - I can't see the pictures. There is no link or anything showing on my computer screen. Is there a trick to getting to them:badpc: or am I just outa luck?
Thanks, and I'm looking even more forward to this part of our trip next spring!

Madcoco has a link in his (or her) signature to a couple VB albums on a photo site. Take a look they are great!!

Great TR!
I just did something I didn't think I would be brave enough to do for a few more years. I booked an OVIR for just dh and I in Sept for an adults only trip. I'm so excited now to try out VB, but nervous about leaving the kids. We have a LO on the way in Dec, so this will be a last hurrah for dh and I.

Thanks again for the TR. Now I'm off to check out any info I can find about VB. Any recommendations on places to eat? Maybe a good romantic place for dinner that isn't seafood only since I don't eat fish.
Wish us luck and pray for no hurricanes!

Hi Amy! It was nice to meet you and I want to thank you again for organizing the swap. The chairs were great!

In my little report I had going, I wrote that my parents were in a huge GVIR. It looks just like the one in your report, only their balcony looked out over trees and villas. Their big huge windows looked out over the parking lot and A1A. And their little window in the sitting area looked out to the guard shack.
They loved the room for the space and my mom said they would take that room over an OVIR any time. She thought it was better than ours. Of course I said nope, OV trumps bigger space!
Nice to hear they have that same set up in an OVIR.

I think next time we go, we will have to try Squid Lips. We ate at Capt. Hirams but really were not too impressed.

And I had no idea we could use our DDE card at Vero! Guess I should have read my paper better that came with the card. Would have come in handy. We ate at Shutters once and Sonya's once. We thought the food at each was good. DH had a great burger from Shutters.

It was fun seeing your husbands sand castles, he is quite good at building them.

I agree about Captain Hiram's, too touristy, food mediocore, at best.

Although, we did love Squid Lips! We also enjoyed Ocean Grille, and Orchid Island Pizza.

Hey Starbox,

Can you tell me where you got your sandcastle building kit? Thanks.

Will be in VB by this time next week...can't wait!!!:goodvibes
Hoping the weather cooperates. Glad you had a good time.

Hey Starbox,

Can you tell me where you got your sandcastle building kit? Thanks.

Here's the link - IMHO, it was well worth the $$. I had it shipped to the resort so I did not have to pack it. The DVD is really helpful to teach how to use the tools and etc.

I tried to talk DH into leaving it at Vero (donating it to Eb & Flos) but he was really attached to it. :rotfl:
